You could argue that the [[Series/CthulhuMythos original]] actually inspired The Doctor and happened "first'; but if asked he'll comment on how Cause and Effect aren't always chronological. If he wasn't "before", he is "now." Their TARDIS is their Silver Key meaning they are their own TARDIS.
