* ''Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse'':
** The villain Enchantress was the weakest part of the ''Film/SuicideSquad2016'' (and given how people felt about the Creator/JaredLeto Joker, that is ''really'' saying something). This was thanks to a combination of [[FlatCharacter poor characterization]], [[GenericDoomsdayVillain generic and vague motivations]], and her {{Story Breaker Power}}s that leaves little room for an interesting conflict. Not to mention that she's horribly out of sync with the rest of the movie; watching her battle the Suicide Squad is a little bit like watching Film/{{the Dirty Dozen}} fight [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Rita Repulsa]]. The odd decision to have the character flop about like a [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Wacky Waving Inflatable Flailing Arm Tube Man]] for most of the movie and Cara Delevingne's poor performance certainly didn't help matters either.

* ''Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse'':
The ''Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse'' has a serious issue with its villains falling into this trope. Examples include Jared Leto's Joker (who was disliked for his "edgy" design and not bearing much resemblance to the comic book character,) and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor (disliked for his eccentric, manic performance and not bearing much resemblance to the comic book character...noticing a pattern here?) Two villains stand out as particularly hated:

** Between the villains, Barbossa and Davy Jones are some of the most popular characters of the franchise, Beckett and Mercer had some fans too and Salazar and Angelica are base-breakers, but hardly anyone is a fan of Blackbeard. He's seen as uninteresting in comparison to the rest of the villains gallery and suffers severe BadassDecay after his introduction (being introduced as ''the pirate all pirates fear'', having a powerful ship and sword, but then not doing nothing anything really cool the rest of the movie). The fact that he changes from a Loving Dad to a ManipulativeBastard to Angelica depending the scene doesn't help.

** The Spinosaurus in [[Film/JurassicParkIII the third film]] is this because of its status as overpowered. About unintentional hated. Probably intentional = not this.

** The villain Enchantress was the weakest part of the ''Film/SuicideSquad''. The odd decision to have the character flop about like a [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Wacky Waving Inflatable Flailing Arm Tube Man]] for most of the movie and Cara Delevigne's poor performance certainly didn't help matters either.

* ''TheScrappy/StarWars''
* ''TheScrappy/{{Transformers|FilmSeries}}''
----

* Christopher Oram from ''Film/AlienCovenant'', for a few reasons but [[TooDumbToLive mostly for his multiple]] WhatAnIdiot moments (one of which [[spoiler:ends up getting him killed]]), [[{{Jerkass}} refusing to allow Daniels and the crew to properly honour her husband]] and ''his best friend'' and when they do calling it "a breach in protocol", [[ItsAllAboutMe thinking that the crew are somehow distrustful of him despite showing no signs of it]] claiming them and the company don't like religious people and just the fact that everyone who dies (including his own wife!) and every bad thing that happens can be traced back to his decision to up and change course to their Engineer homeworld without putting it to a crew vote.
* ''Film/AnotherCinderellaStory'' gives us Dominique. She's an AbusiveParent toward [[TheWoobie poor Mary]] and is a complete {{Jerkass}}. Believe it or not, no one actually [[KarmaHoudini calls her out for her terrible treatment]], and she never gets any redeeming qualities at all. Sure, she breaks her legs at the end of the movie and Mary gets to escape her horrible treatment, but she still leaves quite a terrible impression.
* ''Film/AttackOfTheTheEyeCreatures''. Culver, the the CovertPervert, was labeled by [[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 Tom Servo]] as one of the the most instantly unlikeable characters in film history.
* The O'Doyle family from ''Film/BillyMadison'' because they are a family of red headed bullies that mostly say "O'Doyle rules!"
* Malak from ''Film/ConanTheDestroyer'', whiny, cowardly and, except for one scene, TheLoad.
* ''Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse'':
** The villain Enchantress was the weakest part of the ''Film/SuicideSquad''. Cara Delevigne's poor performance didn't help matters.
** Steppenwolf from ''Film/JusticeLeague2017'' is considered to be the most forgettable and least-liked villain of the franchise due to having a bare-bones personality and an uninteresting CGI design. It didn't help matters that he was the main villain of the film instead of the more popular Comicbook/{{Darkseid}} (or, really, any New God; Steppenwolf is [[UnexpectedCharacter pretty much the definition of C-list]] among the group) or actual Leaguer villains like Starro, Amazo, or the Crime Syndicate.
* Snails, the thief from the first ''Film/DungeonsAndDragons'' movie, was hated for being an incredibly aggravating EthnicScrappy, so much so that Ridley's BigNo following his death at the hands of evil head minion Damodar was considered the height of {{Narm}}.
* An adaptation of ''Literature/TheDunwichHorror'' from TheSeventies gives Wilbur Whateley a love interest. Most Lovecraft fans consider her everything wrong with Hollywood.
* Ruby Rhod from ''Film/TheFifthElement''. He's supposed to be the comic relief, but the only thing he does is scream like a little girl and complain about everything in a grating, high-pitched voice, and while no one would call the rest of the movie a masterpiece of characterization, Ruby Rhod has ''zero'' depth to his character beyond being "[[EthnicScrappy humorously effeminate]] [[UncleTomfoolery black guy]]." Not only that, he is ''completely useless'' and does nothing to help the plot or the other characters. This seems to be the point of the character, as protagonist Korben Dallas is frequently grimacing around Ruby and clearly dislikes him.
* ''Franchise/{{Godzilla}}''
** Minya, a.k.a. the Film/SonOfGodzilla is often panned by ''Godzilla'' fans of all ages due to his goofy nature, odd resemblance to a [[Series/DiffrentStrokes young Gary Coleman]], and the fact that he starred in ''Film/AllMonstersAttack'' which is considered the worst of the Japanese ''Franchise/{{Godzilla}}'' films.
** There is [[Film/{{Godzilla 1998}} the first American Godzilla]], nowadays officially called Zilla due to this trope. He is hated for being [[AdaptationalWimp weak]] compared to the original, lacking the powerful breath vision and durability, as well as having a totally different backstory (he's a mutated marine iguana, not a dinosaur). He also runs away from the military, and looks very different from the original. Ironically, in some international markets, he's actually ''by far'' the most well known and popular monster of the franchise, and it's the Japanese one and the [[Film/{{Godzilla2014}} newer American one]] that's hated.
** Likewise, there's [[Film/GodzillaVsMegalon Jet Jaguar]] ("[[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 His crimefighting covers up a basic insecurity]]"). Think Ultraman + Jack Nicholson - the entertainment value of both. He has picked up something of an ironic fandom, though, as between his weird design, surprising incompetence, silly theme song, and craptastic first outing, he's a rich well of SoBadItsGood - to the point that his appearance in the comics, punctuated by "NEXT ISSUE: PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH", made people very happy.
** King Caesar qualifies for certain fans, in both of his appearances. In ''Film/GodzillaVsMechagodzilla'', he can only be awakened by [[{{Padding}} an extraordinarily long song]], and when he finally does get up, he gets his ass kicked by Mechagodzilla until Godzilla intervenes, [[AntiClimax despite being hyped for the entire film as a world-saving guardian which the characters had been working to reawaken]]. And in ''Film/GodzillaFinalWars'', he is mostly bashed for having an even more laughable design, besides doing nothing again, other than getting beaten (in a {{kaiju}} ''football match'' no less).
** Similarly, MOGUERA from ''Film/GodzillaVsSpacegodzilla'' is often seen as a poor man's Mechagodzilla.
* ''Franchise/IndianaJones'':
** From ''[[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom The Temple of Doom]]'' there is the [[TheLoad largely useless]] DamselScrappy Willie Scott, who is despised [[CreatorBacklash even by the actress who played her,]] who admitted she's "not much more than a dumb, screaming blonde." While Short Round is useful to a degree, he can get on a lot of peoples' nerves for being annoying.
** Mutt from ''[[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheKingdomOfTheCrystalSkull The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull]]'' achieves this status for being Indy's son and at least partly for being played by Creator/ShiaLaBeouf. The [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment scene where he swung from tree vines with a bunch of monkeys]] didn't help any.
* ''Film/JamesBond'':
** Sheriff J.W. Pepper, the obnoxious redneck sheriff comic relief from ''Film/LiveAndLetDie''. They also managed to shoehorn him in to ''Film/TheManWithTheGoldenGun'' by having him [[ContrivedCoincidence touring Bangkok]] AND he's around for the infamous scene where the awesome car jump is ruined by a slide-whistle sound effect and him rolling around in the back of the car yelling. How irritating is Sheriff Pepper? On Blog/ToplessRobot's countdown of obnoxious comedic sidekicks he ''beat out Jar-Jar''.
** Dr. Christmas Jones from ''Film/TheWorldIsNotEnough'', is hated for generally existing only so that Bond has a backup girl when the infinitely-more-interesting primary love interest, Elektra King, [[spoiler: turns out to be evil]]. Not to mention the [[WTHCastingAgency casting of Denise Richards as a brilliant nuclear physicist]].
** Mr. Bullion from the same film is for henchmen. He is hated for being an obnoxious "gangsta" stereotype and a DirtyCoward; [[spoiler:thankfully, he gets gunned down by [[EnsembleDarkhorse Valentin Zukovsky]]]].
** As bad as Christmas Jones is, she at least manages to do ''something'' useful. Stacey Sutton from ''Film/AViewToAKill'', on the other hand, screams at the slightest provocation, gets captured at the most inconvenient times and forces Bond to rescue her, fails to notice Zorin sneaking up on her in a ''zeppelin'', and [[spoiler:survives over the much cooler [[EvilIsSexy (and hotter)]] May Day]].
* ''Franchise/JurassicPark'':
** Lex and Tim from [[Film/JurassicPark the first film]] and Kelly Curtis from [[Film/TheLostWorldJurassicPark the second film]] are this because of their shared status as [[TheLoad completely useless]] {{Tagalong Kid}}s.
** Sarah Harding from [[Film/TheLostWorldJurassicPark the second film]]. Despite apparently [[InformedAbility having years of experience with dangerous predators]], she does extremely stupid things such as approaching a baby Stegosaurus standing right next to its family, taking a baby Tyrannosaurus back to their base camp (despite her predicting that T. rex likely cared for its young), and walking through the jungle covered in T. rex blood despite knowing that Tyrannosaurus has a very good sense of smell. She's basically a [[TheLoad complete load]], and her completely idiotic actions end up costing people lives.
** The Spinosaurus in [[Film/JurassicParkIII the third film]] is this because of its status as overpowered.
** Then there's Amanda Kirby from [[Film/JurassicParkIII the third film]], who easily earns the title of the most hated character in the series. Starting when they land on the island, she spends ''way'' too much of her screen time either [[ScreamingWoman screaming hysterically]] whenever she has even the slightest reason to, or simply being TooDumbToLive. Because of her boneheaded nature, she continuously makes Dr. Grant's attempts to keep everyone safe harder than ever, and it really doesn't help that on top of all that, she has other less-than-admirable traits such as occasional moments of stubborness and selfishness. To be fair though, she ''does'' get a little better and smarter by the end, but at that point, it really isn't enough to make much difference or make up for all of her incredible moments of stupidity that nearly got herself and the others killed.
* ''Film/TheLegendOfZorro'' dumped the young Joaquin into the mix, adding a needless (and quite annoying) child element when all people were wanting was to see Creator/AntonioBanderas and Creator/CatherineZetaJones kick any asses they might have missed from the first movie.
* ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings''
** Denethor, the {{Jerkass}} Steward of Gondor, from ''The Return of the King'', gets a lot of hate, and to top that, thanks to {{Flanderization}}, he's viewed only in the film as a unlikable crazy jerk, instead of a sympathetic, complex, Shakespearean AntiVillain.
** Alfrid in ''Film/TheHobbit'' prequel trilogy. While he was tolerable in the [[Film/TheHobbitTheDesolationOfSmaug second film]], he's almost unbearable in the [[Film/TheHobbitTheBattleOfTheFiveArmies third]] due to a combination of being incredibly unlikeable, a CanonForeigner in a script already stuffed with them and a comic relief character whose gag of AesopAmnesia wears thin very quickly, lacking any plot-relevance to an already badly padded story, and [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse his storyline not actually concluding in the theatrical film]] (leaving him a KarmaHoudini). On top of that, he's a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute to his boss in the prior film, who was at least played by Creator/StephenFry. Even fans of the film despise him, as his role of comic relief was filled better by the dwarves in prior films, who are largely DemotedToExtra in ''Five Armies'' in favor of him (a decision believed to be the result of ExecutiveMeddling and near-universally seen as a poor one). It's rumored that audiences ''applauded'' during a screening of the Extended Edition, which added a scene where Alfrid [[KarmaHoudiniWarranty dies horribly.]]
* Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse:
** The earth supporting cast from ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld'', namely Darcy and her intern boyfriend, Eric Selvic and Jane Foster for stealing screen time away from the much more entertaining and compelling Asgardian characters. The girls are especially disliked: Jane for her [[StrangledByTheRedString underdeveloped]] relationship with the titular character that ultimately [[RomanticPlotTumor brought down the plot]], and Darcy because many people find her just annoying rather than funny. The fact that a lot of much more interesting characters and plot point from the [[ComicBook/TheMightyThor source material]] were [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter short]] [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot changed]] in exchange for her did ''not'' help. It's a shame since they were liked or tolerated well enough in the first movie, but this one just has no idea what it's doing with them.
** Of all the MCU villains, Malekith the Accursed, also from ''The Dark World'' probably has the least fans. He doesn't have any real motivation for trying to destroy the world, and is just a GenericDoomsdayVillain, especially when compared to the villain of the first ''Film/{{Thor}}''.
* Zeppo Marx quickly became audiences' least favorite member of Creator/TheMarxBrothers, due to his failure to adopt a strongly identifiable screen personality like Groucho, Harpo, and Chico. This eventually caused him to go behind the scenes and manage the other three, though they continued having straight romantic hero parts in their films that Zeppo clearly would have played if they'd still been together. Ironically, several of their contemporaries stated that in real life Zeppo was the funniest of the brothers. This includes the Marx Brothers themselves, as not only was he a capable straight man, he could subtly suggest further improvisations without breaking character or drawing undue attention. In contrast, most of the non-sibling cast had difficulty dealing with the brothers without laughing or storming off angrily. Played with by ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'', when they named Xander "[[{{Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS3E13TheZeppo}} The Zeppo]]".
* From ''Film/TheNightOfTheHunter'', we have Icey Spoon, an old woman who is, without a doubt, the personification of '''The Nag'''. She's constantly belittling her husband to the point that he's completely ineffectual in helping anyone (she even admits to a crowd that she thinks about canning when she's having sex), she pushes Willa Harper into getting remarried to Harry Powell, and is utterly won over by his charms. Half the problems in the movie John and Pearl have to deal with are because of Icey's "helping hand". [[spoiler: When Powell is finally arrested, Icey appears at his trial, drunk out of her mind and leading a lynch mob to hang Powell.]]
* Philip the clergyman from ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanOnStrangerTides''. Many people thought he was an out-of-place character (missionary on a pirate ship) and that his subplot was pointless; that whole interspecies romance thing doesn't fit at all with [[ImmortalitySeeker the main plot]] except for the three seconds or so that Blackbeard exploits it.
* Ludlow from ''Film/{{Pixels}}''. He has NoIndoorVoice, screams constantly and acts like a complete LoonyFan towards Lady Lisa, complete with StalkerShrine and everything.
* Costa from ''Film/ProjectX''. He's an arrogant, promiscuous, sociopathic bastard who bullies his friends, is casually misogynistic, racist, and homophobic, and is responsible for most of the problems that occur in the film, including stealing from a drug dealer he knows. He also brings a pair of psychopathic kids as "security" who assault a man whose only crime is being upset about the titular party.
** It ''certainly'' doesn't help that while many of the other characters, such as the slightly sympathetic Thomas, [[spoiler: receive prison time]] for the reckless party that Costa started, Not only does [[spoiler: ''[[KarmaHoudini Costa get off]] scott free'']], but he's treated like a saint! The writers ''really'' tried to make him like [[WesternAnimation/SouthPark Cartman]], but forgot that even ''he'' had some sympathy.
* Many fans of Creator/GingerRogers and Creator/FredAstaire strongly dislike Harriet Hoctor in ''Film/ShallWeDance''.
* Lola Bunny from ''Film/SpaceJam'' is this for a certain number Looney Tunes fans. PositiveDiscrimination is a big factor. Since she was female, she could never participate in slapstick or display any flaws, making her seem like unfunny. The whole "furry" thing certainly doesn't help, either. There's also the fact that [[CreatorsPet they then shoehorned her into every series since.]] The only possible love she gets is from the UsefulNotes/FurryFandom, and even they aren't too thrilled. ''WesternAnimation/TheLooneyTunesShow'' lampshades this fact by making her immensely hated by the main cast, and in a hilarious bit of irony, Bugs seems to be the most annoyed by her. Although, oddly enough, [[CloudCuckoolander her new]] [[TalkativeLoon characterization]] in said show [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap has actually made her far more liked amongst quite a few fans.]]
** Ironically, her new version from ''The Looney Tunes Show'' is seen as a scrappy by many fans of the original Space Jam incarnation, which are quite likely to be tween girls who initially idolized the original incarnation that have now grown up to around college age. The most common criticism said fans use is accusing Creator/WarnerBros of turning a [[RealWomenDontWearDresses "strong female character"]] into TheDitz. Seems poor Lola just can't catch a break from being called a scrappy.
* Eric Sacks from ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2014''. When it comes down to it, he's just an unneeded new character who steals the spotlight not only from Shredder, but from Karai and Baxter Stockman as well.
%%* Anna Valerious of ''Film/VanHelsing''. She even has a fanlisting for people that hate her character.
* ''Film/WarOfTheWorlds'' (2005):
** Rachel is hated for being TheLoad who does absolutely nothing but scream and, even though she's 10, get carried around for the entire movie.
** Her brother Robbie gets a bit of it too for his HairTriggerTemper and his surviving a gigantic explosion with no explanation.
* Heathcliff, the dismally unfunny comic relief in ''Film/TheWildWorldOfBatwoman''. He's a major reason why the movie is painful to watch, even with [[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 Mike, Tom and Crow]].
* Viper from ''Film/TheWolverine'', with any semblance of being a MagnificentBitch taken by [[spoiler:Yashida himself]], leaving her an enormously bitchy SmugSnake with FetishRetardant. Didn't help her case when Viper's characterization here gives her snake powers [[note]](she didn't have any in the comics, as she was originally "Evil Black Widow")[[/note]] and her actress was terrible in the part. As a final punch to the gut, she has absolutely ''nothing'' to do with her comic book counterpart.
