As evil and sociopathic as Ellen truly is, it's [[CryForTheDevil hard not to pity her]] and [[FromNobodyToNightmare how she went from a girl abandoned by her parents to a mass murdering witch]] driven by her [[DesperatelyCravesAffection desire to be loved]].

* In the Extra Mode of the MV remake, if you head back to the house after escaping, the previous witch appears as an AstralProection and waves goodbye to Ellen before disappearing. Keeping in mind that she's basically Ellen's foster mother and this is likely the last time they will ever see each other, you almost feel sorry for the two. At least until you remember that they are both sadistic mass murdering psychopaths.
