* In this continuity, Orko became known to the royal family after rescuing Adam as a child. Shortly before he's returned, there's a short scene of the king and queen looking tearful and worried about their son. Given this series' more serious tone, it stands to reason a lot more heart-wrenching moments do occur.
* The Sorceress' entire character is rather sad; she's a mother to [[spoiler: Teela]], but can never tell [[spoiler: her.]] And to top that off, she can't be with the father of said child since she's trapped protecting Grayskull (and it's not like she can just leave, her powers get weaker when she's away from it) and she has to stay there until a successor is found...and she seems rather reluctant to let her [[spoiler: daughter]] take the burden.
* In "Roboto's Gambit", Teela is rather harsh to a chess player robot who wished to help fight the current threat. However, after he gave a HeroicSacrifice, Teela realized she was too harsh on him and never let him have the chance to prove himself. It was lucky that [[DisneyDeath he was a machine and thus could be rebuilt.]]
* King Grayskull's story is rather heart wrenching, especially given his battle ended with a victory...at a cost [[spoiler: of his own life.]]
