A long time ago, in the age of the dinosaurs, the earth was under attack by alien forces. The only people capable of the stopping them was a team known as the Kyōki Ryū no Sha, the People of the Strong Dragons, better known as Kyoryuger.

...Of course, in this case the term "people" may be a bit misleading, considering they were actually dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles, granted supernatural powers by the bird god Torin (yes, they had a bird god before birds ought to have existed. [[AWizardDidIt He's a god, it doesn't have to make sense]]).

When the age of the dinosaurs came to an end, Torin sealed his champions' souls inside special capsules so that they would still be there to help the next generation of heroes if the aliens ever returned. Now, in the modern world, they have and five young people have been chosen to use the powers of these "Beast Batteries" to fight off this revived threat.

* PunnyName: The Dricera, being a combination of Triceratops and dry cell, a type of battery.
* ShoutOut: [=KyoryuBlack=] is named ''Ian'' Yorkland. Gee, a dinosaur-based story with a character named Ian who wears black. [[JurassicPark Sound familiar to anyone?]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Not counting the various ways Dinoranger has been romanized using long vowels, (Kyoryuger and Kyouryuuger) electrobeast has been romanized as Jyuden and also Zyuden by some.
** It's Zyuden on the merchandise.
* SmurfettePrinciple: Pink is the only girl of the season (that we know of so far).
* TransformationTrinket: The team's sidearm, the Gaburevolver, pulls double duty as this.
* WeaponOfChoice:
** SwordAndGun: Gaburicalibur and Gaburevolver
*** BifurcatedWeapon: Combining the two makes the Gaburicannon.
** Daigo: [[PowerFist Gabutyra Fang]]
** Ian: Para Shot
** Nobuharu: [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe Stego Shield]]
** Sōji: Zactor Slasher
** Amy: [[ThisIsADrill Dricera Lance]]
%%** [[spoiler:Kyoryu Gold: [[CoolSword Zander Thunder]]]]
* WidgetSeries: While we're not sure yet, a few aspects of the show are odd for ''Super Sentai''. And that's not counting the Mythology Gags to [[BattleFeverJ the king of Super Sentai widget seasons.]]
* XMeetsY: ''BattleFeverJ'' meets ''KyoryuSentaiZyuranger'' and/or ''BakuryuuSentaiAbaranger''.
