Added example(s) come on if you watched the show as an adult...you can tell that Kate (and DJ) was being unfair to Truman...even though he too was in the wrong...Kate (and DJ) were the ones who caused it.

Added DiffLines:

* JerkassBall: Although Kate is usually responsible and is just a kid, half of the time she and DJ can be mean to Truman, which causes problems, ranging from shooing him away which resulted in him acting out by spraying her and DJ with a hose and verbally bullying him for being too young to do anything (ie. Playing Catch, using bubble liquid and looking after a Rabbit).

* SpiritualSuccessor: The show is one to Rick Sigglekow's earlier TV series ''Series/ShiningTimeStation''. The show focuses on an older adult who runs a business related to the British animated show it frames, a crazy person who runs a business near the shop, something inanimate coming to life during one point in the episode, a group of kids who visit the place, small, human-like creatures who interact with the humans and people telling stories leading into the British animation.

* TyopOnTheCover: The episode "The Sandman Cometh" has the episode's title displayed as "THE SANDMAN" COMETH". It's unknown if this was fixed for future airings of the episode.

* WidgetSeries: Being that this series was produced in Canada despite being made for the United States market, there are some parts of the show itself that are either bizzare or confusing:
** The character of Aunt Agatha has a high-pitched voice and acts childish at times, obsessing over things like the ocean and rats. She also thinks she's a mermaid and can produce the sounds of a big ocean liner.
** The goblins that lurk the shop seem to be a reverse family, with Boobull being the parent figure and his mom and dad acting like children who speak in unintelligible language.
** The whole concept of Johnny Crawfish. He's a lobster who is said to be a celebrity despite being a TalkingAnimal, and has the ability to play the piano. He also has claimed at least once to have an actual family.
** The Crybabies are smarter than they appear to be. For instance, in one episode, they revealed that they have an understanding of PottyFailure, when most people their age are not toilet-trained.
** The Ruby Reds are singing lips without faces that live in a box.
** Two of the characters would seem out of place on any other show for preschoolers, with Gertie Gator having [[BigBreastPride big breasts]] and one of the characters, Stein, being a beer tankard.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* EekAMouse: In this show, this is used as a running gag for Aunt Agatha. The episode "The Fish Story" took this UpToEleven by having her dress as a cat to find some mice who she thought took a ring belonging to Kate's mom.

* DemographicallyInappropriateHumor: This show had many things that probably wouldn't fly on any other Creator/PBSKids show aimed at preschoolers:
** One of the characters, Stein, is a beer mug.
** The song "The Day The Goblins Got Away" contains this verse:
--> [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything Goblins are like an itch you can't get near]]
--> Don't give them any ideas!
** The show has plenty of scenes in which the puppet characters (and on occasion the humans) quote or referencing things adults would only get, like ''Film/SuddenImpact'' or ''Series/SaturdayNightLive''.
** The episode "Skunked" has Whiny and Whimper mistaking the skunk smell for [[PottyFailure one of them soiling their diaper]], which could be considered this because PBS Kids shows, especially those for preschoolers, never tend to use PottyHumor for the purpose of a joke. [[note]] The only other PBS Kids shows that had toilet humor jokes were ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}} Arthur's Perfect Christmas]]'' and ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales''. Any other instance of mentioning the bathroom on PBS Kids, save for ''Arthur'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Caillou}}'', which show characters having [[PottyEmergency potty emergencies]], mainly happens a ToiletTrainingPlot.[[/note]]
** One character, Gertie Gator, has large breasts.

The show centered on three kids, Kate; her brother, Truman; and their friend, DJ, who visit a toy shop (the titular Noddy Shop) every day after school while their parents were at work, where they would visit with Noah, the shop's owner and Kate and Truman's grandfather. But the shop isn't any ordinary toy store-the residents of the toy store, as well as Noah's pet lobster Johnny Crawfish, can come to life and talk to them. One day, the kids discover a mysterious box and a key, which holds mischievous goblins that play tricks on people, as well as a map of an imaginary land and two dolls that turn out to be Noddy and Big Ears, which the kids decide to tell stories with that relate to real-life situations the kids face (which are represented by episodes of ''WesternAnimation/NoddysToylandAdventures''). After the story had been told, the toys and Johnny would sing a song about the moral of the story to the kids. In some episodes, they would sing two songs, with the second one usually being a retelling of a popular story set to music.
