''Alpha Team RPG'' was created by Website/{{BZPower}} member Victor Draven (then known as Barda the Builder of Brickbar) on December 21, 2004, and was largely inspired by ''Roleplay/{{BZPRPG}}'' and Manifest Destiny's ''Toys/KnightsKingdom2 RPG''. ''Alpha Team RPG'' quickly became the most successful and popular Franchise/{{LEGO}}-based RPG on the forum and was directly responsible for [[FollowTheLeader a ton of new LEGO RPGs created in its wake]], including ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.

To mark the RPG's 18th anniversary, I've made a new downloadable archive. Since I was here, I added a bunch of tropes that I remembered while compiling that archive.

Along with the rest of the pre-2011 [=BZPower=] Archive, ''Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze'' was ravaged by a hacking incident. Even a nearly-complete archive on the Wayback Machine mysteriously vanished from its servers. Fortunately, an incomplete but decently-sized archive was compiled by [=PeabodySam=] as a 361-page Word document, which you can download [[https://www.mediafire.com/file/xbiql2474qmei96/Alpha_Team_Mission_Deep_Freeze_RPG.docx/file here]].

To mark the RPG's 18th anniversary on December 21, 2022, [=PeabodySam=] released a more organized downloadable archive that also includes its ExpandedUniverse and ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', which you can download [[https://dinoattackrpg02.fandom.com/wiki/Alpha_Team_RPG_Downloadable_Archive here]].

* AbortedArc: ''The Flight of the Rahkshi'' was never published beyond its first chapter.

* ActuallyADoombot: General Evil was killed by Frozeen at one point, but it was later revealed that it was only a robot decoy.

to:

* ActuallyADoombot: General Evil was killed by Frozeen at one point, but it was later revealed that it was only a robot decoy.decoy.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Little Bot did not originally appear in the RPG until after General Evil faked his death, but he appears in ''Family Feud'' during Frozeen's first battle against General Evil.
* AdaptationalSympathy: General Evil is still a villain in ''Family Feud'', but he's at least presented in a more sympathetic light with a tragic backstory and FreudianExcuse, compared to how he was merely a one-dimensional pure evil villain in the original RPG.

* AdaptationNameChange:
** The [[Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam toyline's]] Super Ice Drone is instead called a Black Drone in the RPG.
** Frozeen's real name is Samuel Yoir in the RPG, but ''Family Feud'' follows ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' canon and therefore names him Peter Abody instead.
* AdaptiveAbility: If a Spiderobot is destroyed by an attack, the other surviving Spiderobots will adapt and learn to avoid, block, or even NoSell that attack. This forces PBB, Databoard, and others to constantly improvise new ways of fighting them since the same trick never works twice.
* AdoptiveNameChange: In the original RPG, it's stated that Frozeen was originally named Brickstealer, but his adoptive parents named him Sam Yoir. In ''Dino Attack RPG'' canon and ''Family Feud'', his birthname is Brickthief and his adoptive name is Peter Abody instead.

* AllAnimalsAreDogs: Chompy, who is a T-Rex, shows his affection towards Frozeen by licking his face and wagging his tail. Frozeen decided to raise Chompy because he had experience with a pet dog.

* AloneAmongTheCouples: The early RPG days notably featured love interests for major characters, such as Iris for Subzero and Rebecca for Valcone. Although Frozeen was around in those early days, he never had a love interest in the RPG. This would later motivate [=PeabodySam=] to give him a love interest in ''[[Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG Dino Attack: At War's End]]''.

** General Evil cared very little for Slayer and only exploited him for his wish to seek revenge against Frozeen. He (or, at least, [[ActuallyADoombot his decoy]]) made the mistake of [[KickTheDog insulting Slayer and breaking his promise]], which ultimately led to [[TheDogBitesBack Slayer turning against him]].

to:

** General Evil cared very little for Slayer and only exploited him for his wish to seek revenge against Frozeen. He (or, at least, [[ActuallyADoombot his decoy]]) made the mistake of [[KickTheDog insulting Slayer and breaking his promise]], which ultimately led to [[TheDogBitesBack Slayer turning against him]]. Furthermore, after killing Slayer, General Evil remarks that "There goes another servant", implying that this is not the first minion that he's killed.

* BatOutOfHell: PBB fights one Shifting Shadow that takes on the form of a Kreelix, which is described as an enormous bat-like monster.

* BigfootSasquatchAndYeti: Frozeen, PBB, and Chompy encounter a Yeti in Antarctica, [[MisplacedWildlife of all places]]. Chompy scares it off by growling at it.
* BigStupidDoodooHead:
** Chompy insults a drone in the saurian language, which is translated as calling the drone a "big, dumb... dummy head".
** Both Frozeen and General Evil tend to use "dumb" as though it is the harshest insult they can think of, which ends up making them seem like they have the vocabulary of an elementary school bully. General Evil's menace is somewhat deflated when he boasts "Your dumb team is doomed!", for example.

* CoolAirship: The ''Voltage'', Dr. Voltage's personal airship that would later be taken by Kotua. Ogel also had airships at his disposal, including one that was captured by PBB and would eventually become his personal airship in ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.

to:

* CoolAirship: The ''Voltage'', Dr. Voltage's personal airship that would later be taken by Kotua. Ogel also had impressive airships at his disposal, including one that was captured by PBB and would eventually become his personal airship in ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.airship.

* CraniumChase: PBB [[LosingYourHead had his head knocked off]] during one fight against General Evil, and the villain was able to escape while the bot's body was trying to find his head and pick it back up.
* CrisisCrossover: While primarily based upon ''Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam'', the RPG has multiple crossovers with other LEGO themes, notably including ''Toys/LEGOAdventurers'', ''VideoGame/LEGOIsland'', ''Toys/KnightsKingdom2'', and especially ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}}''. Licensed LEGO themes are also featured, such as ''Franchise/HarryPotter'', ''Film/SpiderMan2'', ''Franchise/StarWars'', and ''Franchise/{{Batman}}''.

* CurbStompBattle: Slayer's one and only fight against Frozeen is incredibly short. Frozeen just kicks him and ties him up.

* DecompositeCharacter: In ''The Banned'', Website/BZPower members and their respective RPG characters are treated as the same individual, with one exception. When Subzero meets [=FOX234=], he does not recognize the [=BZPower=] member as agent Slick, suggesting that they are separate characters in this story.

* DetachmentCombat: PBB once took his head off and threw it as a projectile, knocking out Kotua and disabling a Robo-Kotua. He needed Frozeen's help to re-attach the head, though.

* DidYouDie: In ''Family Feud'', Frozeen asks if General Evil killed him. Since he's heavily drugged up with morphine at the time, the prose notes that he is still not thinking clearly enough to realize the obvious answer to that question.

* EliteMook: The most common Elite Mooks are Meda-Drones, which are MechaMooks that are stronger, tougher, and smarter than the average drone. There are also other one-off elite versions of drones, including Elite Drones commanded by Tyrus, the Black Drone with [[AnIcePerson freezing powers]], and the Drone Chief that successfully captures Frozeen.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: When General Evil faked his death, his brother Evil Ogel showed a rare moment of humanity by expressing grief. He mourned his brother enough to have his Ice Drones and prisoners [[ShrineToTheFallen build a shrine in his memory]].

* ExpandedUniverse: During the RPG's run, its host Victor Draven wrote three side-stories set within the RPG's universe: ''Rahkshi VS Vahki'', ''The Banned'', and ''The Flight of the Rahkshi''. Almost two decades later, [=PeabodySam=] would offer his own contribution with a short story, ''Family Feud''.

* FallenHero: Subzero, after his FaceHeelTurn, goes from being one of Alpha Team's greatest heroes to Alpha Team's number two enemy.

to:

* FallenHero: FakeDefector: Valcone pretends to betray Alpha Team and return to Ogel's service, but his true loyalties still remain with Alpha Team.
* FallenHero:
**
Subzero, after his FaceHeelTurn, goes from being one of Alpha Team's greatest heroes to Alpha Team's number two enemy.enemy.
** General Evil forces Frozeen to fight a giant spiny lizard-like creature, which is heavily implied to be a former heroic member of Libo's Army.

* GenderNeutralWriting: In ''Family Feud'', none of the scientist agents under Frozeen and Dr. Rex's command are referred to with gendered terms, leaving it up to the reader's imagination whether they are male or female.

* GrammarCorrectionGag: In the middle of a battle, Slayer felt the need to correct General Evil's grammar after the latter used a double negative. According to Frozeen, Slayer always was a GrammarNazi.

* AnIcePerson: Subzero, who was first mutated by ice spider venom and was later transformed into a Toa of Ice.

to:

* AnIcePerson: AnIcePerson:
**
Subzero, who was first mutated by ice spider venom and was later transformed into a Toa of Ice.Ice, possessed ice and freezing powers.
** The Black Drone can shoot ice blasts from its hands, and freezes the floor beneath its feet.

* ItCanThink: General Evil forces Frozeen to fight a giant lizard-like monster that appears to be just a feral beast. However, Rebel Drone reveals afterward that the lizard used to be friends with Little Bot, and it is heavily implied that the lizard was a former member of Libo's Army, both of which would suggest that the lizard was actually sapient.

* LosingYourHead: Since PBB is a robot, decapitation is non-fatal. In the original RPG, he even weaponizes it at one point, taking off his head and throwing it as a projectile. In ''Family Feud'', he gets beheaded by General Evil and shows up just fine later on after PullingThemselvesTogether off-screen.

* MisplacedWildlife:
** A misplaced cryptid, in this instance. For some reason, a [[BigfootSasquatchAndYeti Yeti]] randomly appears in Antarctica instead of the Himalayas. PBB is perplexed by its presence.
** Dragonflies and mosquitoes are found in Antarctica. However, it is implied that neither of these species are "ordinary" insects (the dragonflies appear to actually be smaller [[OurDragonsAreDifferent DRAGONflies]], and ''Family Feud'' mentions Ogel experimenting with genetically-modified mosquitoes) in order to justify their presence. The same can't be said for ordinary ants that were getting inside the base after Frozeen spilled his cocoa.

* MurderousMalfunctioningMachine: Guardian was supposed to be a military robot that would help Alpha Team and LEGOLAND battle Ogel. Since AIIsACrapshoot, it instead went rogue and started attacking everyone, becoming a villain in its own right.
* MythologyGag:
** At one point in the RPG, a drone infiltrates Alpha Team HQ by disguising itself as Charge, referencing one of the Red Lens minigames on the ''Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam'' website. This minigame is also referenced by ''Family Feud'', which mentions that multiple drones have disguised themselves as Charge.
** In ''Family Feud'', General Evil describes himself as a ghost haunting a machine body. It's just a metaphor in ''Family Feud'', but in the original RPG canon, that's literally what he was. Similarly, Frozeen begins to hear the "It is time..." voice and [[DidYouDie asks if General Evil killed him]], referencing the fact that Frozeen did die in the original RPG during this fight.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Villains do not go for subtle names, with some notable examples including XTREMEPOWERMOD/Turaga Doom, General Evil, and Slayer.

* NotMeThisTime: While Frozeen goes insane, Kotua grows sick of Frozeen acting like Gollum. When he hears an EvilLaugh, he assumes it's just Frozeen and tells him to knock it off, but Frozeen reacts with confusion. Turns out it was actually Dr. Voltage who was laughing.

* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Two very different kinds of dragons appear in Antarctica:
** The [=DRAGONfly=] appears to be an enormous dragonfly with draconic features. Fortunately, it is benevolent and gladly assists Alpha Team after Frozeen ([[AchievementsInIgnorance accidentally]]) [[AndroclesLion saves its life]]. It is accompanied by swarms of smaller dragonflies, which are implied to be its kin rather than ordinary dragonflies.
** PBB encounters an ancient mutant dragon guarding the antidote for Ogel's poison. It is said that whoever kills the mutant dragon must also die. It is capable of speech, and although it initially poses a threat to PBB, it [[EnemyMine teams up with him]] against a greater threat, the Shifting Shadows.
* OurTimeMachineIsDifferent: Future Frozeen's time machine is a flying boat, apparently based upon the Flying Time Vessel from ''Toys/LEGOTimeCruisers''.

* ProductionForeshadowing: An early incarnation of the Shifting Shadows, which would later make their formal debut in [=PeabodySam's=] 2009 ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}}'' fanfic ''Vakama's Secret'', make an appearance as minor enemies in this RPG in 2005. Similarly, the giant lizard monster that fights Frozeen in General Evil's pit appears to be based on the same ''BIONICLE'' [=MOC=] as Karak from ''The Story of Frosam'', which was written later that year in 2006.
* PullingThemselvesTogether: As long as PBB does not take critical damage, he can put himself back together if he is dismembered.

* ReformedCriminal: Valcone used to be a warrior working for Evil Ogel, but he abandoned Ogel's cause and joined Alpha Team to become a hero.
* [[invoked]]RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: In-universe example. When PBB was first created, he was seen as incredibly annoying by Alpha Team agents (including his own creator Frozeen) since he would never shut up and would either drone on in excruciating boring detail or make unfunny attempts at humor. As PBB [[CharacterDevelopment eventually dropped these annoying traits and became more serious and helpful]], the Alpha Team agents came around and began appreciating him as a valuable ally.
* RevengeByProxy: In ''Family Feud'', General Evil tries to kill Frozeen as punishment for being left for dead by Frozeen's father.
* {{Rewrite}}: About half of ''Family Feud'' is a rewrite of Frozeen's first encounter with General Evil, now updated to match the modern canon of ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.

** [=PeabodySam=] made a number of comments noting that ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' definitely influenced his writing, especially in big battle scenes. The Vinscale Octomus is based upon the Watcher in the Water from ''Film/TheLordOfTheRingsTheFellowshipOfTheRing''. Frozeen also ends up in two separate reenactments of the scene from ''The Fellowship of the Ring'' where a character hastily puts out a campfire that has already been noticed by their enemies. Frozeen and PBB find a lock that says "Say code to enter", and Frozeen realizes the code is the word "code".
** [=PeabodySam's=] writings contain multiple references to ''Literature/TheLostYearsOfMerlin'', including a creature called a Kreelix and a sword-handed villain known as Slayer.
** In the volcano base, Frozeen overhears a couple drones apparently watching ''WesternAnimation/FindingNemo''.
** Frozeen and PBB uncover a plot by Ogel to launch a rocket that would drop a ball-like robot to attack a city, followed by a countdown and a triggered alarm system. The whole scene is very clearly based upon ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles''. Later, General Evil uses ElectricTorture on Frozeen in a manner reminiscent of Syndrome's interrogation of Mr. Incredible.
** In ''Family Feud'', after Frozeen declares that Dr. Rex killed General Evil, Dr. Rex's response is [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaCDiGames "Good!"]]
* ShrineToTheFallen: After General Evil fakes his death, several of Ogel's prisoners (including Kotua) are forced to work on a shrine dedicated to General Evil's memory.

* SparedByTheAdaptation: Both General Evil and Frozeen died in the original RPG, with their spirits possessing G.E. Bodies. Due to ReimaginingTheArtifact in later ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' canon, the G.E. Bodies are changed to PoweredArmor instead of HauntedTechnology, and therefore the rewrite ''Family Feud'' changes it so that General Evil and Frozeen were explicitly OnlyMostlyDead instead of actually dead.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS:
** In his first appearance, the French newbie's name is Bounjoir. But in his second appearance, it's Bonjoir instead.
** The Vinscale Octomus is originally spelled "Vinscale Octumus" when Frozeen first names it.

* TakeOverTheWorld: Ogel's plan, of course!

to:

* TakeOverTheWorld: Ogel's plan, of course!course! His goal is to freeze time to overthrow the world's governments and take over the world, and he even succeeds in an AlternateTimeline where he becomes Supreme Overlord.
* TakeThat: One drone sarcastically comments on the Big Dig supposedly being meant to help Boston.
* TalkLikeAPirate: When PBB was first created, he would randomly switch languages and accents on a whim, including speaking with a stereotypical "pirate accent" where he would call people "mateys" and tell them to walk the plank.

Added DiffLines:

* ThemeNaming:
** In ''Family Feud'', Atom's bombs are called Panrahk 98 and Panrahk 2000. When combined with Panrahk XP from the original RPG, it clearly forms a pattern of naming the bombs after Microsoft Windows computers.
** In ''Family Feud'', since Frozeen and Dr. Rex's squad consist of scientists, many of their codenames refer to scientific terms, such as Atom, Dalton, Infrared, Ultraviolet, Thermo, Sigma, and Cell; the last three are also intended as references to Thermo Fisher Scientific, Sigma-Aldrich, and Cell Signaling Technologies, which are companies in the life sciences field.

Added DiffLines:

* ThisWasHisTrueForm: After PBB kills a Shifting Shadow in the form of a Kreelix, it shapeshifts back to its original form.
* ThroughTheEyesOfMadness: While Kotua was brainwashed by the drones' machine, his posts are told from his unreliable perspective, including Databoard being perceived as an evil drone taunting him while he's in an oven.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Chompy UsedToBeASweetKid, but he became a lot grouchier and more sarcastic after having to endure a brief period of blindness.

Added DiffLines:

* VengeanceDenied: Slayer seeks revenge against Frozeen, but keeps having it denied. First, he believed that General Evil killed Frozeen, leaving him unable to do the deed himself. Later, when he finally gets to face Frozeen in a fight, it's a CurbStompBattle and Slayer is almost instantly defeated.

Added DiffLines:

* VoluntaryShapeshifter: Ogel allies with a race of monsters known as Shifting Shadows, which are capable of shapeshifting into other forms at will.
* WholePlotReference:
** The ExpandedUniverse story ''Rahkshi VS Vahki'' is one big ShoutOut to ''Franchise/AlienVsPredator''.
** The Future Frozeen StoryArc seems to be inspired by ''Franchise/{{Terminator}}'', since it concerns a time traveler from a BadFuture going back in time to stop a robot assassin.

Added DiffLines:

* XenomorphXerox: The Kraata are portrayed as a combination of facehuggers and chestbursters in ''The Banned'': they latch onto their victim's face, enter their body, and burst out their chest. Then, just as a chestburster grows into a more powerful drone, the Kraata enter their Rahkshi exoskeleton and become Kurahk. Furthermore, in the title of ''Rahkshi VS Vahki'', Rahkshi take the place of "Franchise/{{Alien}}" in ''Franchise/AlienVsPredator''.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: When PBB was first created, he would randomly switch languages and accents on a whim, including speaking with a "Toys/KnightsKingdom2 accent" where he would speak with an exaggerated and incredibly inaccurate representation of Old English.
* YouDoNotWantToKnow: When PBB is asked how he got to Antarctica from Boston, he refuses to answer and simply says that you do not want to know.
* YouJustHadToSayIt: During the Adventurers' Island mission, Frozeen notes that they haven't encountered any Scorpion Orb Launchers yet, only for a bunch of them to suddenly appear. Shadow scolds Frozeen, telling him not to say that next time.

Unfortunately, as Victor Draven drifted away from [=BZPower=], the RPG was left to flounder about without a guiding force. The fight against Ogel could never progress or reach a resolution, so players came up with new subplots and villains that eventually made it so complex that [[PutneySwopePanic it became difficult to follow everything going on]]. Eventually, most of its players dropped out. Less than two years after it started, the RPG was considered dead due to inactivity.

* CoolAirship: The ''Voltage'', Dr. Voltage's personal airship that would later be taken by Kotua. Ogel also had airships at his disposal, including one that was captured by PBB and would eventually become his personal airship in ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.

* CunningLinguist: Polar and PBB.
* DeathIsCheap: Frozeen, Kotua, and Databoard all died at least once, but that did not stop them from [[BackFromTheDead coming back]] in various forms. As Kotua and Databoard discovered after dying multiple times, the only thing you need to do when you see a bright light and hear a voice tell you that your time has come is to say "But my friends need me!", and then that voice will let you off the hook.

* DestinationDefenestration: Ogel has a [[RunningGag bad habit]] of doing this to his drones.
* DeusExMachina: The "It is time" voice, created by Kotua in Space in order to restore Kotua's Minifig body through death and revival, and it became easily abused by Kotua and Databoard to repeatedly prove that DeathIsCheap. Given the context, the mysterious voice might very well be a literal case of Deus ex Machina.
* TheDogBitesBack: General Evil promised Slayer that he would replace his missing hands. When Slayer was [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness no longer useful to him]], General Evil (or rather, [[ActuallyADoombot his decoy]]) called him a "freak" and said that Slayer would never receive his promised prosthetic hands. In turn, Slayer turned against him and tore apart the decoy's G.E. Body's wings, which proved instrumental in its defeat.
* TheDragon: General Evil to Evil Ogel. While they are both very intelligent, Ogel was the mastermind while General Evil was the muscle.
* DressingAsTheEnemy: Frozeen occasionally donned an Ice Drone uniform to infiltrate Ogel's Mountain Fortress.

* EarthIsABattlefield: As Ogel has spread his Ice Orbs all over the planet, Alpha Team takes the fight to him at various locations across the globe, including Antarctica, Adventurers' Island, World City, Boston, and Mexico.
* EnemyMine: The Ice Snake King forged a brief alliance with Alpha Team in order to take down Lord Salvatore Lazardas, who had taken over his clan of ice snakes.

* EnsembleCast: The ''Alpha Team RPG'' has no single main protagonist.
** RotatingProtagonist: Every post in ''Alpha Team RPG'' shifts the perspective to another character, especially since players are not allowed to post twice in a row due to Website/{{BZPower}} forum rules. It can even happen in just one post; many players in the RPG have a number of [=NPCs=] besides their main character, and a single post will often shift between the perspectives of different characters.
* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: Why else was Chompy introduced?

* EverythingsSquishierWithCephalopods: The Vinscale Octomus, a species of giant tentacled monstrosities.
* EvilCounterpart: General Evil to Frozeen, made especially clear since they both used G.E. Bodies.

* EvilKnockoff: At one point, Ogel reverse-engineered Alpha Team's vehicles and created his own [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red and black]] versions to attack Alpha Team agents.
* EvilOldFolks: General Evil and, presumably, Evil Ogel.

* EvilSoundsDeep: A trait carried by both Ogel and General Evil.
* ExploringTheEvilLair: Alpha Team agents often have to do this in Ogel's various compounds.
* {{Expy}}:
** General Evil combines elements of [[Franchise/StarWars General Grievous]] and [[WesternAnimation/ABugsLife Hopper]].
** Slayer is a very blatant expy of [[Literature/TheLostYearsOfMerlin Dinatius]].

* FallenHero: Subzero, after his FaceHeelTurn.
* ForegoneConclusion: Thanks to ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'', which is set six years later but ran concurrent to this RPG, it's hard to feel any real dramatic tension for characters like Frozeen, Databoard, or Kotua when you know they'll be just fine.
* FriendlessBackground: Frozeen and Patrick (aka Slayer) had very few friends in their youth.

[[folder:G-L]]

* AnIcePerson: Subzero, who was first mutated by ice spider venom and was later transformed into a Toa of Ice.

* KilledOffForReal:
** Despite [[DeathIsCheap Death Being Cheap]] for other characters, Kalius and Slayer remained dead after they were killed.
** DoubleSubversion by Valcone. He was originally Killed Off For Real, but then his player had second thoughts and so Valcone entered a tournament to come back to life and won... but nothing ever came out of that, so as far as the rest of the RPG is concerned, he's still dead.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:M-R]]
* MagmaMan: Valcone had the ability to create controlled bursts of magma.

* RobotBuddy: Kotua used to have one until it was abducted by Dr. Voltage and fused with his Ice Blade, thus creating the first Robo-Blade.

** Frozeen custom-built PBB as his own personal robot buddy.
** Rebel Drone was accompanied by a little robot named Little Bot... although, as would be revealed in ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'', [[AmbiguousRobots Little Bot's true nature may not be so robotic]].

Added DiffLines:

''Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG'', or simply ''Alpha Team RPG'', is a [[PlayByPostGames text-based]] RolePlayingGame based upon the third and final mission of ''Franchise/LEGOAlphaTeam''.

The premise is simple: [[BigBad Evil Ogel]] has returned and is plotting to freeze Earth with his new Ice Orbs, and it is up to Alpha Team to defend the world against this new threat.

Despite this, ''Alpha Team RPG'' is largely considered by the [=BZPower=] LEGO TBRPG community to be a prime example of how to make a successful RPG. Its legacy lived on through the many [=RPGs=] it inspired, and it even received a SpiritualSuccessor in 2010 in the form of ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', created by former players Tropers/{{PeabodySam}} and [=TakunuvaC01=] as a tribute to the classic RPG.

Along with the rest of the pre-2011 [=BZPower=] Archive, ''Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze'' was ravaged by a hacking incident. Fortunately, much of it remains safely archived through the Wayback Machine, although there are quite a few [[MissingEpisode missing pages]] that are LostForever. You can read it [[http://web.archive.org/web/20070815121854/http://www.bzpower.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php?t159750.html here]].

!!''Alpha Team RPG'' contains examples of:

* AcePilot: Capt. Falcon and Cash.
* AnIcePerson: Subzero, who was first mutated by ice spider venom and was later transformed into a Toa of Ice.
* BaseOnWheels: The Mobile Command Center.
* BigBad: Evil Ogel.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Happens on occasion, especially to Kotua or Databoard.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Happens to characters when their players drop out due to inactivity.
* CoolCar: The Tundra Tracker.
* CoolPlane: The Blue Eagle.
* DemBones: Ice Drones, possibly. We don't know for sure whether or not they have flesh beneath those uniforms.
* DemolitionsExpert: Henry.
* DrillTank: The Tundra Tracker's Alpha Mode: the Magma Drill.
* TheEngineer: Subzero, Databoard, and Kotua.
* EverythingsDeaderWithZombies: Ice Drones.
* EvilGloating: Most villains, including Ogel, General Evil, and Dr. Voltage, are fond of this.
* EvilIsHammy: Again, this applies to most villains.
* EvilPlan: Ogel's plan is to cover the world with snow and ice. Although this is never revealed in the RPG itself, his ultimate goal is to freeze time itself.
* EyepatchAfterTimeSkip: While not stated in the RPG itself, Future Frozeen has an eyepatch over his left eye, as depicted on the ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' [[TheWikiRule Wiki]].
* HarmlessFreezing: Whenever Alpha Team agents are frozen in a block of ice by an Ice Orb, they are always just fine once thawed or broken free.
* HeelFaceTurn: In his final appearance in the RPG, Subzero had become a villain who was being hunted down by Victor Draven's new player character, Cryogen.
* HookHand: In place of Ogel's left hand.
* HumongousMecha: The Blizzard Blaster.
* IcePalace: The den of the Ice Snakes.
* InstantIceJustAddCold: Or rather, just add an Ice Orb.
* TheLeader: Although Dash Justice is the leader of Alpha Team, elite commando agent Subzero often filled this role for his fellow RPG characters.
* MiniMecha: The X-1 Snowbot Defender (which rarely saw use in the RPG) and the Robo-Blade.
* {{Mooks}}: Ice Drones.
* NoEnding: When the RPG died from inactivity in 2006, the fight against Ogel was still far from finished. Granted, [[Franchise/LEGOAlphaTeam the original toyline]] never actually had an ending either, but it ended with the final showdown beginning between Zed's Blizzard Blaster and Ogel' Scorpion Orb Launcher, which is assumed to take place quite some time after the RPG ended. The RPG's {{Spiritual Successor}}s ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' and ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'' do fill in some of the gap but intentionally leave the details very vague.
* ObviouslyEvil: Everything that has to do with Evil Ogel.
* PlayerHeadquarters: The Alpha Team Antarctic Base.
* PoweredArmor:
** The G.E. Bodies used by Frozeen and General Evil.
** In ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'', the transformation of Subzero and several other characters into Toa has been reinterpreted as them using Powered Armor.
* RaceLift: Believe it or not, Frozeen was originally envisioned by [=PeabodySam=] as rather downplayed example of a ScaryBlackMan. However, this was never made clear in his writing, so Victor Draven instead imagined Frozeen as a RedHeadedHero (who is, naturally, white... or, in the case of LEGO characters, yellow), and that is the image that ultimately stuck.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: The color scheme of Ogel's bases, vehicles, and Ice Drone uniforms.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: One of Evil Ogel's eyes is red.
* RobotBuddy: Kotua used to have one until it was abducted by Dr. Voltage and fused with his Ice Blade, thus creating the first Robo-Blade.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Evil Ogel.
* SlippySlideyIceWorld: Pretty much the entire planet, thanks to Ogel's Ice Orbs.
* SpiderTank: The Scorpion Orb Launcher, as well as General Evil's personal variant, the ''Silver Scorpion''.
* SpiritualSuccessor:
** ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' was essentially ''Alpha Team RPG'' [[RecycledInSpace Recycled In]] ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack'' when it first started in 2005. Because of the significant overlap between players at the time, ''Dino Attack RPG'' also features a number of player characters from ''Alpha Team RPG''.
** ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'' was created in 2010 as both a tribute to ''Franchise/LEGOAlphaTeam'' and this RPG. It even offered an OldSaveBonus: veteran players of ''Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG'' could begin at Standard Agent rank rather than Rookie Agent.
* TheSquad: Alpha Team.
* SupervillainLair: Ogel's Mountain Fortress, along with his various outposts throughout Antarctica.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Ogel's plan, of course.
* ThisIsADrill: Alpha Team agents such as Frozeen often employed the Magma Drill in their fight against Ogel, whether it was drilling through ice or through Snow Crawlers.
* TunnelKing: Frozeen, who was a {{Franchise/RockRaider|s}} before joining Alpha Team.
* VolcanoLair: Frozeen once had to infiltrate an Ogel base that was located inside an antarctic volcano, where the Ice Drones planned on redirecting the lava flow to Alpha Team's base.
