The premise is simple: [[BigBad Evil Ogel]] has returned and is plotting to freeze Earth with his new Ice Orbs, and it is up to Alpha Team to defend the world against this new threat.
''Alpha Team RPG'' was created by Website/{{BZPower}} member Victor Draven (then known as Barda the Builder of Brickbar) on December 21, 2004, and was largely inspired by ''Roleplay/{{BZPRPG}}'' and Manifest Destiny's ''Toys/KnightsKingdom2 RPG''. ''Alpha Team RPG'' quickly became the most successful and popular Franchise/{{LEGO}}-based RPG on the forum and was directly responsible for [[FollowTheLeader a ton of new LEGO RPGs created in its wake]], including ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.
Unfortunately, as Victor Draven drifted away from [=BZPower=], the RPG was left to flounder about without a guiding force. The fight against Ogel could never progress or reach a resolution, so players came up with new subplots and villains that eventually made it so complex that [[PutneySwopePanic it became difficult to follow everything going on]]. Eventually, most of its players dropped out. Less than two years after it started, the RPG was considered dead due to inactivity.
Despite this, ''Alpha Team RPG'' is largely considered by the [=BZPower=] LEGO TBRPG community to be a prime example of how to make a successful RPG. Its legacy lived on through the many [=RPGs=] it inspired, and it even received a SpiritualSuccessor in 2010 in the form of ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', created by former players Tropers/{{PeabodySam}} and [=TakunuvaC01=] as a tribute to the classic RPG.

''Alpha Team RPG'' was created by Website/{{BZPower}} member Victor Draven (then known as Barda the Builder of Brickbar) on December 21, 2004, and was largely inspired by ''Roleplay/{{BZPRPG}}'' and Manifest Destiny's ''Toys/KnightsKingdom2 RPG''. ''Alpha Team RPG'' quickly became the most successful and popular Franchise/{{LEGO}}-based RPG on the forum and was directly responsible for [[FollowTheLeader a ton of new LEGO RPGs created in its wake]], including ''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG''.
Unfortunately, as Victor Draven drifted away from [=BZPower=], the RPG was left to flounder about without a guiding force. The fight against Ogel could never progress or reach a resolution, so players came up with new subplots and villains that eventually made it so complex that [[PutneySwopePanic it became difficult to follow everything going on]]. Eventually, most of its players dropped out. Less than two years after it started, the RPG was considered dead due to inactivity.
Despite this, ''Alpha Team RPG'' is largely considered by the [=BZPower=] LEGO TBRPG community to be a prime example of how to make a successful RPG. Its legacy lived on through the many [=RPGs=] it inspired, and it even received a SpiritualSuccessor in 2010 in the form of ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', created by former players Tropers/{{PeabodySam}} and [=TakunuvaC01=] as a tribute to the classic RPG.
