I\'m going to go out and say that Rooster Teeth probably didn\'t think of this, because they don\'t seem to like Ironwood much, but: Qrow does NOT have a point when he criticized Ironwood staying in touch. When a field agent goes MIA, the military can\'t send messages or calls to them because of the possibility of them being intercepted, if the agent\'s been captured. So that\'s a point against Qrow.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Qrow is pretty hostile to both Winter and Ironwood but he does make good points about them. His accusations about the Atlesian military seeing themselves as better than everyone else aren't exactly debunked by Winter losing her temper over his comments. He also points out that Ironwood did go behind Ozpin's back, albeit out of perceived necessity rather than power hunger as Qrow believes. Qrow is also absolutely correct that for all of Ironwood's talk of trust and communication he isn't exactly practicing what he preaches.

%% * SugarAndIcePersonality: Winter, much like her younger sister, is often haughty and cold towards those around her, but she also shows that she cares more for her sister as a person than as a Schnee.

Those were called test shots. Notice that Winter hadn\'t assumed her stance yet.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Winter criticizes Weiss' combat performance in the Vytal Festival tournament, mentioning how many strikes she missed. Then as she fights with Qrow, she misses more than twice as many strikes of her own in the first few seconds, which is implied to be the result of her being angered.

* CrypticConversation: The entire conversation between Qrow, Ironwood, Ozpin, and Glinda is full of references to context the audience doesn't yet know about. Qrow says that the infiltrator (Cinder) is the one responsible for "Autumn's condition." Who or what Autumn is and what said condition is are left unsaid. Ozpin emphasizes the importance of finding a "Guardian" and that a Guardian is a "symbol of comfort." But again, there is no elaboration on what that means. Then, of course, their's Qrow's wonderfully ominous line...

** This also applies to to Qrow and Ironwood's argument. Ironwood's efforts were in response to Ozpin's less forceful approach backfiring while Qrow is correct that his more direct efforts have done nothing to dissuade Cinder's group form their course of action.

* BladeBrake: Used by both Winter and Qrow.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Winter's interaction with Weiss and Ruby establishes several things about her character: she is cold, but cares about her sister, she is extremely formal, has a no-nonsense attitude, and she's a proper LadyOfWar.

* TheGlomp: Ruby reunites with Uncle Qrow this way. It's very cute.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Winter criticizes Weiss' combat performance in the Vytal Festival tournament, mentioning how many strikes she missed. Then as she fights with Qrow, she misses several strikes of her own, which is implied to be the result of her being angered.
* FreezeFrameBonus:
** When Winter makes her last strike, if you pause at the ''very'' end of the ArrowCam shot, you can see a devilish expression on Qrow's face. It's more noticeable in the episode preview.
** Looking closely at the doubles brackets reveals a few things: Sun and Neptune are representing Team SSSN, Team CRDL made it past the first round, and the face of Penny's teammate.

* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Ozpin's open-mouthed shock that Qrow's still drinking, even as he's being called out as a drunk.

to:

* UnwittingPawn: It looks like Ironwood is one to Cinder, as connecting his Scroll to Beacon's compromised network has now given her access to manipulating things of hers.

* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Ozpin and Ironwood present equally viable motivations in regards to how they have been handling security. Ironwood feels that an open display of military might will give people a feeling of safety (which, besides the usual benefits of high morale, [[ClapYourHandssIfYouBelieve also makes Grimm less dangerous]]), while Ozpin's more subtle approach would have avoided people questioning why such a military force has been assembled in the first place.

** It's finally revealed why Cinder hacked into the communications network in Dance Dance Infiltration. [[spoiler: She now has control of all the tournament match-up selections, and she's also gained access to General Ironwood's Scroll.]] The extent of this plan has yet to be seen, but the implications are huge.

When meeting in private with Ozpin and the rest of the BenevolentConspiracy, he drops the act - though he still drinks - revealing that he's been away on a lengthy reconnaissance mission, and calls Ironwood out on his methods.

* FridgeLogic: Ozpin's entire point when criticizing Ironwood's overt uses of force is that it makes people fear a hypothetical threat that requires an army to defend against. But considering the city suffered a massive Grimm invasion fairly recently, the populace's fear of another attack ought to exist anyway, army or no army.
