* SneezeOfDoom: Right after Russell manages to light his one match and prepares to light the fire that will allow them to escape from the whale he and Lumpy are trapped in, Lumpy sneezes, putting out the match.

After some difficulty, he manages to light it... only for Lumpy to sneeze and put it out.

Russell is traveling on his boat until he gets swallowed by a whale. Upon lighting his match, he sees that the inside is full of random junk as well as Lumpy in his car. They are at first discouraged that they are both stuck, but Russell then gets an idea. They first try to light a bundle of sticks to create smoke, but Russell only has one match left. When he manages to get the match lit, Lumpy ends up sneezing, wasting it. The next plan involves Lumpy lifting Russell up so that the latter can pull the uvula, but this results in the whale vomiting all over the duo. They are now disheartened and think they are out of ideas, until they notice light shining from the above -- the whale's blowhole. Russell grabs his harpoon and throws it upwards, but it ends up falling onto Lumpy, killing him. With that failure, Russell finally snaps and begins slashing the whale's insides with his hook. Feeling bothered, the whale blows Russell out from the blowhole. The sea otter, upon noticing the outside, cheers gleefully. However, he ends up falling straight on a ship's mast, impaling his head. The ship is then eaten by the whale.

* BaitAndSwitch: Russell seems to be free upon being blown out from the whale's blowhole. He then suddenly gets impaled on a ship's mast. Said ship gets eaten by the same whale.

* ContinuityNod: Lumpy wears the same getup as in "Treasure Those Idol Moments", though the car he is driving has a different design (though the color scheme is mostly similar).

* DownerEnding: Lumpy gets accidentally killed and, while Russell managed to get blown outside, he gets impaled on a ship mast before getting eaten by the whale again.
* EyeScream: The ship mast impales through Russell's eye.
* FreakOut: Russell after failing his attempt to escape for the third time, especially after accidentally killing Lumpy.

* RunningGag: Even amidst the darkness, Russell manages to pull Handy's signature scowl.

** This episode contains a few ''Literature/{{Pinocchio}}'' references. Aside from the obvious SwallowedWhole by a whale, there is the lookalike puppet itself inside, as well as the duo's first attempt of escaping involving lighting a bundle of sticks, presumably to generate smoke so the whale will end up sneezing.
