* This troper found fate at the end of the game, to be very unsettling. Worse, he seems to show genuine remorse for he's put the player through. Since he can't die, he has nothing to think about but his transgressions until the end of time.
* One of the songs on the new Portal 2 soundtrack, Ghost of Rattmann, is very scary. If the music itself doesn't make you shit your pants, the indiscernible gibberish (which gets louder as the song progresses) will. It sounds like a combination of a turret and a mentally retarded Donald Duck. Or maybe just the latter.
** You can just barely make out a little bit of what he says - for example, at around 2:19-2:21 here, it sounds like he's saying "everybody is dead, it's the end"... no matter if he's saying that or something else, though, it definitely sounds like he's sobbing uncontrollably - imagine what must it have been like for him to realize that everybody else in the facility has been killed at once, and that he's the only one left, alive and trapped in there...

I took a good deal of non-spoiler material out of spoiler tags to reduce the amount of blank white space on the page, and tagged some unmarked spoilers, mostly relating to Wheatley\'s betrayal. I also tried to find the original example that one example which seemed to originally have been a clarification point was attached to, failed, and made it an example of its own.

** I SO second this! Can you imagine? You've met someone, a helper, a friend, in this gosh-forsaken place. You get to know each other and help each other out. Even though your friend is kind of a moron, he's still lovable and makes you laugh. Even when it appears he's died, he manages to survive that thanks to a bird and you disable the turrets and neurotoxin that could very well kill you! You got to confront GLaDOS and it ends up with your friend and her "switching" bodies in a sense. But then, just as your friend calls the esacpe lift so the two of you can get out of here, [[spoiler: he suddenly goes mad with power, turns GLaDOS into a potato, and, when she enrages him, pounds both you and PotatOS into the deep, dark, abandoned depths of Aperture. When you finally get out, you find out that the entire place has gone to heck! Your friend has renamed the facility after himself and has combined turrets and cubes together into this... monstrosity that is just begging for death... When you finally confront him after several of his failed attempts to kill you, he practially snarls at you to hold still so he can kill you! And if you wait long enough he begins ranting, hysterically claiming that you've been selfish, doing nothing but using him, not catching him when he disconnected from his management rail and claims that you and GLaDOS are best friends and that you two plan on running off together.]] What makes it even worse, though? This also doubles as a TearJerker since you've lost your only friend in that entire facility to power... If there's a lesson to be learned from this entire situation, it's to be very careful with power!

** I SO second this! Can you imagine? You've met someone, a helper, a friend, in this gosh-forsaken place. You get to know each other and help each other out. Even though your friend is kind of a moron, he's still lovable and makes you laugh. * Almost all of Chapter 6, but especially the first part (before you make your way into the sealed chambers, and thus have Cave Johnson's deranged ramblings to keep you company). You're miles below the surface, absolutely no idea where to go, and most of all: [=GLaDOS=] gets carried off, and for once you go without her constant attempts to "assist" and "encourage" you. You. Are. ALONE. in the crazy place, more so than you ever have been.
