* Mikoto is a nigh-unstoppable killing machine when she faces anything she thinks is an enemy. In episode 2, she tackles Mai with a form that suggests heavily that she was preparing to gouge Mai's eyes out.
* Kagutzuchi's raw power. When he first charges up his primary attack, Mai seems to sense how much damage it can do and can only yell for Mikoto and Natsuki to run for their lives. He leaves a long swath of Scorched Earth.
* A CHILD is bound to a Hime based on similar personalities. Hot-blooded Mai got a Phoenix like creature. Ice Princess Natsuki got a combat wolf. What did Shizuru get? A mishmesh with Squidlike body and serpents for tentacles.
* One all too harsh, for all that it requires no part of fantastical or supernatural elements. Natsuki wakes from a CatapultNightmare of her closest and most trusted friend kissing her while she's powerless, only to learn it [[DudeShesLikeInAComa actually happened]], and overhears that it went further than that, with her friend not denying the accusations being thrown at her, and instead merely deflecting by saying her accuser is voyeuristic. Natsuki later collapses in the street from overwhelming grief, and wakes in a hospital from the same catapult nightmare.
