Hello! Project is an umbrella term to refer to the [[AlwaysFemale female idols]] managed by Up-Front Agency and Tsunku. Major groups in the Project are Morning Musume (the flagship and longest running group), C-ute, ANGERME (formerly S/mileage), Juice=Juice, Country Girls, and Kobushi Factory, with former Morning Musume member Aika Mitsui as its sole current soloist. There are also numerous sub-units and Hello! Pro Kenshuusei (formerly Hello! Pro Egg), a training program for young girls looking to become full-fledged idols under the Project. Each group has their own unique sound and members, with no two songs sounding the same.

* CoolOldLady: Yuko Nakazawa. Okay, so she's not that old but there is a significant age difference compared to some other former members: for instance, she is about 13 years older than Ai Kago.

Even more so 2014-onwards, now that some members of the current lineup were born after Yuko had already graduated. To reiterate, most of the girls in the current lineup are young enough to be Yuko's daughters!

Added DiffLines:

** S/mileage/ANGERME's songs have evolved over the years from being cutesy and childlike, to genki and upbeat, to more mature and cooler.
*** For their newest single in November 2015, two of the A-sides have a hardcore rock style.

Added DiffLines:

* PintSizedPowerhouse: Although she's short, Takahashi Ai has shown in several ways that she can be an awesome girl.
** Tamura Meimi can also count as this. While she normally acts cute, whenever she's performing/singing/acting, her voice will noticeably change and she can belt out really strong notes, and often (depending on her role/the feel of the song) gains a badass attitude.

* TheCastShowoff: Ayaka Kimura and Mika Todd; due to the fact Ayaka spent a large part of her childhood in Hawaii and Mika is an American, both of them are fluent in English as well as Japanese, and both were given many opportunities to speak English in songs and on TV shows (Ayaka even hosted a "corner" on Hello Morning specifically due to this). Whenever Mini Moni were on Utaban, Mika would usually tell them whatever news she had by impersonating a news report in English before translating it into Japanese.
** Ai Takahashi and Kaori Iida are both excellent dancers and were afforded many opportunities to do so outside of the usual [=PVs=], concerts and TV performances.

* TheOjou: Mizuki Fukumura came from a ''very'' well-to-do family, though her general attitude leans more towards the SpoiledSweet spectrum.
