DarkerAndEdgier: "I Am (All Of Me)", which is the only time they went straight up metal instead of their usual style of Hard Rock.

Their style has generally fallen under the MelodicRock umbrella, combining uplifting, self-empowering vocals with soaring rock riffs and intense solos. They often use elements of HardRock and AlternativeMetal with a bit of a HairMetal sheen, and guitarist/songwriter Jun Senoue cites many famous rock bands of the 80's as big influences for the group's sound.

* SpeedMetal: "Open Your Heart" had elements of this, but they dropped that for all the rest of their releases.
* SurprisinglyGentleSong: "Live Life", the ending credits song to ''Sonic & the Black Knight'', is probably the softest this band can get.

Plenty of Crush40's old material appeared as unlock-able music tracks in ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations''. However, while Jun Senoue returned to create a large portion of the game's modern styled remixes, Crush40 didn't make any new songs for the game nor remix any of their old songs themselves. In 2012 they released a 4-track EP titled ''Risin' Up'', comprised of 3 new original tracks as well as the aforementioned ''Song of Hope''.

They next appeared on the soundtrack of ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'', providing their SignatureSong "Live and Learn". They provided two original songs for the next two games in the Sonic series, ''VideoGame/SonicHeroes''[[note]]The self titled "Sonic Heroes" (the main theme) and "What I'm Made Of" (the FinalBoss Theme)[[/note]] and ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog''[[note]]"I Am All Of Me" (Main Theme) and "Never Turn Back" (Credits Theme)[[/note]]. They appeared in ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'', recording a cover of fellow hard rock band Music/MagnaFi's "All Hail Shadow" (featured in ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog'') and covered PunkRock[=/=]PunkRap band Music/{{Zebrahead}}'s theme song "His World". * BadExportForYou: The European self-titled album ''Crush 40'' was missing the instrumental tracks that its counterpart for the rest of the world, ''Thrill of the Feel'', had. (Other than that and the name, the two are the same.)

In 2010, they performed at the ''Summer of Sonic'' event in London. In 2011, they performed live at the ''Sonic Boom'' event at E3 in Los Angeles in collaboration with CashCash. In July 2011, they performed their first full concert in Tokyo, featuring mainly ''Sonic'' material but also including covers of songs from Johnny Gioeli's previous band Hardline, including ''Hot Cherie'', ''Love Leads the Way'', and ''Everything''. They also debuted a new original composition, ''Song of Hope'', a charity single for those affected by the Japanese tsunami earlier that year. Once again, in 2012 they performed at the ''Summer of Sonic'' event in Brighton.

** CoveredUp: Their cover of "Fire Woman" is generally assumed to be about Blaze the Cat, However they are very quick to point out it's a cover and say that Blaze had nothing to do with the cover. Jun simply wanted a cover song on their 2009 album, and he chose "Fire Woman"
