Depraved enough to draw in devils, Tibalt's Planeswalker spark ignited when a spell went awry and fused his being with his fiendish audience, turning him into [[HalfHumanHybrid a half-devil]]. Wandering the planes spreading suffering [[ForTheEvulz for the fun of it]], Tibalt was drawn to Ravnica during Bolas's harvest and led an army of fiends to torment the populace. Drawn to Chandra's misery over losing her beloved Gideon, he captures and tortures her mother to lure her in and feed off sadness and heartache. Later captured by Phyrexia and forced to spread chaos on Kaldheim, Tibalt did so gleefully by imprisoning and impersonating [[TricksterGod Valki]] to sows the seeds of conflict and spread war throughout the ten realms. Murdering a dwarven smith for a magic sword to travel between realms, Tibalt uses it to cause Ragnarok by unleashing hordes of demons to raze all of Kaldheim.

First overseeing the conquest and compleation of the plane of Mirrodin, Norn masterminded the creation of a corrupted WorldTree called Realmbreaker that allowed her to launch apocalyptic invasions against countless planes, seeking to bend them to her thrall or destroy them. Megalomaniacal and selfish to the core, Elesh Norn proved to be a worthy successor to Yawgmoth's monstrous legacy.

* ''Literature/{{Arena}}'': [[CardCarryingVillain Kuthuman]], the former Grand Master of the Arena, arranges to become a Planeswalker. When [[TokenGoodTeammate House Oor-Tael]] doesn't comply, Kuthuman has the other houses purge them in the Night of Fire, leaving only a [[WouldHurtAChild 6-year-old Garth]] alive but with an eye gouged out out of spite for his father. After ascending by betraying his lover, Kuthuman now relegated the task of Grand Master to his servant Zarel as a means to gather mana to maintain his Planeswalker status. Going on a Multiverse killing spree, Kuthuman returns only annually in the Festival of Estark, where deadly gladiatorial matches claim many lives. Kuthuman then kills the winners, seeing them as potential rival Planeswalkers. This has gone on for 20 years until Garth returns and slaughters the houses of Estark. Kuthuman decides to be spiteful and makes Garth kill his lover Varena, then takes him to another plane to give Garth his "[[DeadlyEuphemism reward]]". As the original BigBad of ''Magic'', Kuthuman sets the stage for what is to come.

* ''Literature/KamigawaCycle'': [[TheChessmaster Mochi]] is the [[GodOfTheMoon kami of the crescent moon]] and the patron God of the Soratami Moonfolk. Desiring to remake the world [[InTheirOwnImage in his image]] as well as to simply sate his curiosity, he suggested Lord Konda to steal That-Which-Was-Taken from the kami O-Kagachi, prompting a bloody war between humans and spirits. At the height of this war, Mochi himself directed the Soratami to commit massacres in the Jukai Forest and Takenuma Swamp; [[ManipulativeBastard manipulated]] the Orochi into being devoured by O-Kagachi; and attempted to manipulate Toshiro and Michiko into committing more of his bloody crimes. Though styling himself the patron of the Soratami, [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist Mochi]] sees them as little more than tools to cause more death in his quest for perfection, and nobody buys his lies about what he truly he is.

Allegedly novel prosthetics, their true purpose came with his alliance with the Golgari {{necromancer}} Svogthir: they either assimilated the patients or left them to die without their prosthetics, combining into [[GeneticAbomination Experiment Kraj]]. Momir Vig proceeds to [[EvilGloating gloat]] about how this creation will purge all life on Ravnica, of which he has grown bored off due to finding it imperfect.
