* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: All three Ayase girls have a female friend shares this dynamic with them.
** Asagi and Torako is the most classic example. Asagi has [[LongHairIsFeminine long hair]], wears girly outfits and is quite good with kids. Torako is an aloof chain-smoker with BoyishShortHair, wears t-shirts and jeans and can easily be mistaken for a guy.

Despite its popularity, [[NoAdaptationsAllowed no animated adaptation is in the works, and according to Azuma himself]], Yotsuba [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com.au/news/2008-12-04/yotsuba&creator-kiyohiko-azuma-addresses-anime-rumors isn't well suited to an animated format]]. * MadAtADream: "#56: Schedules" opens with Yotsuba having a nightmare in which Yousuke eats a large portion of a bag of her candy. She wakes up crying and chews him out for it. Even after he explains to her that it was a nightmare and proves it by getting her to see that it's all still there, she still demands "Even if it was a dream, say you're sorry!!"

* ComicBookTime: Although the story is about Yotsuba slowly growing up, with even chapters taking place on a specific date on the calendar, the setting is always set in the present. This allows for things to exist in the story that would not have existed in 2003 when the manga launched, such as Digital SLR cameras and the {{Nintendo DS}}.
