Adjusting a note; in hindsight, it ran a bit too much on speculation before

* CuttingOffTheBranches: In ''[[VideoGame/TouhouEiyashouImperishableNight Imperishable Night]]'', Scarlet Team's GoldenEnding has them start making plans to go to the Moon. ''Silent Sinner in Blue'' follows up on said plans, implying Scarlet Team as the ones who canonically solved the incident.[[note]] In ''Perfect Memento in Strict Sense'', Reimu claimed to have solved the incident, but also dodged questions about the culprits, implying she was lying and didn't know anything. Put together with the above explanation and the fact Scarlet Team fights Reimu in Stage 4, the likely implication is Reimu lost that fight, got salty about it and proceeded to lie, while Scarlet Team kept quiet about solving the incident to work on their space program.[[/note]]

Long ago, [[{{Chessmaster}} Yukari Yakumo]] lead an army of {{Youkai}} to invade the moon and steal its incredible magic and technology. However, that same incredible magic and technology led to them being [[CurbStompBattle repelled almost effortlessly]]. Opinions vary on whether Yukari underestimated the Lunarians' strength, or was merely trying to teach the Youkai some kind of lesson.

Moving to YMMV.

* ContinuityLockout: Newcomers to ''Touhou'' often mistake ''Silent Sinner in Blue'' for a standalone story and ignore ''Cage in Lunatic Runagate'' entirely, resulting in an unsatisfying ending and many events that lack context. Comments by ZUN suggest that [[TrollingCreator he feels a certain level of inaccessibility is core to Touhou, regardless of medium]].

''Bougetsushou'' (literally "Ephemeral Moon Vignette") is the second {{manga}} entry in the ''Franchise/TouhouProject'' franchise, a sequel to the 8th game ''VideoGame/TouhouEiyashouImperishableNight'' (''Eiyashou'' meaning "Eternal Night Vignette") that delves more into the motives and BackStory of that game's {{Lunarian|s}} antagonists. ''Bougetsushou'' is notable for being the only piece of ''Touhou'' fiction to focus on a single overarching story without any [[MysteryOfTheWeek episodic elements]].

* RascallyRabbit: Tewi is depicted as this for the first time in Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth. This completely revolutionized her portrayal in fandom, since before this, most doujinshi characterized her as a cute and innocent rabbit girl.

* SympatheticPOV: In the ''Silent Sinner in Blue'' portions of ''Bougetsushou'' the Watatsuki sisters appear mainly as antagonists and representatives of Lunarian civilisation, causing them to come across as AffablyEvil. * JerksAreWorseThanVillains: The Watatsuki Sisters of the {{Lunarians}} are hated by a lot of fans, mostly for easily [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomping]] the protagonists and established characters while acting smug, condescending, and racist towards Earthlings. Ultimately, tough, they're the HeroAntagonist who are only doing their job of protecting the moon. In contrast, the subsequent ''VideoGame/{{Touhou}}'' game ''Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom'' introduced another Lunarian, Sagume. Despite being responsible for two atrocities and having a plan to ''annihilate all life in Gensokyo'', she acts much more amicably towards the protagonists, and so is much better received among the fandom than the Watatsukis.
