And she doesn't really care if they're dead or not before she starts eating. And what's more, by the time she's done feeding, she turns out to be a Kitsune, and has already acquired [[PowerUp Nine Tails]], making her an EldritchAbomination!]]

** The anime gives her both her normal forms from the manga, a [[OneWingedAngel true form]] that can be viewed as NightmareFuel, and [[SuperMode an enhanced form]] when Yuuto uses his powers on her in the climax. Both of the last forms are in the two episodes that do NOT use manga chapters as the plot lines.

* DroppedABridgetOnHim: Sasa, the one-legged youkai in human form? The one with the frilly clothes and skirt? It's a guy.

* ImprobablyFemaleCast: Ok, it is an UnwantedHarem, but seriously: In 66 chapters so far, 9 males were allowed to speak. One wasn't even named, both Shizuku and Kuesu have someone who works mostly as a messenger to other demons and Demon Slayers respectively, another got [[DroppedABridgetOnHim a Bridget dropped on him]], another is a one-person version of ThoseTwoGuys, then there is the male villain, and, at last, the protagonist. The most guys talking in one chapter was three, and that happened only once.

** Sasa, too, [[spoiler:although less badass, [[DroppedABridgetOnHim and not actually a girl]]]], and Tama, the CuteMute who even manages to pin Himari down.

* BleachedUnderpants: This is the author's first non-hentai work. Not too much of a mould-breaker, however.

** Also Lizlet wants to be Yuuto's 24 hour maid. She isn't but she certainly would enjoy it if she was. And it's possible for him to buy her legally, if her current owner agreed.

* HeroicBSOD: Himari suffers one [[spoiler: after Yuuto gets stabbed in the back shielding her and appears to die.]]

* KillTheCutie: [[spoiler: Hime, a fellow cat ayakashi Himari befriended, at the end of ''Book of the Gaiden'' because the Amakawa family's law dictates that any cat ayakashi under them who falls to her primal instincts must be killed on the spot. Thus Himari was forced to kill her when she saw her consuming the flesh of a human girl whose grandmother was once her owner. Also counts as a TearJerker moment for Himari.]]

* LittleMissBadass: Shizuku, the TokenMiniMoe: [[MakingASplash "My water cuts through anything."]] Sasa, too, [[spoiler:although less badass, [[DroppedABridgetOnHim and not actually a girl]]]] , and Tama, the CuteMute who even manages to pin Himari down.

* {{Nice Job Breaking It Hero}}es: Shared with Aiji and Kasuri in chapter 52. The two wanted to see how dark Himari's SuperpoweredEvilSide has become, for Yuuto's safety. When Kasuri uses her MagicMirror spell to [[TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf to reveal Himari's dark side]] and Aiji amplifies it to materialize it in the real world, [[spoiler:it turns out to be so evil that the mirror containing it breaks and said evil side escapes from the mirror and enters Himari's body.]] Nice job breaking it, indeed.

* TokenMiniMoe: Shizuku and Tama (introduced in chapter 28 of the manga).

* EnemyMine: Ageha and Sasa, who attempted to kill Yuuto in episode 4, team up with him after they find out Tama is killing and eating Ayakashi.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After Yuuto confronts Kuesu in episode 8 about his reasons not to marry her due to her unwillingness to coexist with Ayakashi, she attacks him with a knife, causing his Light Ferry ability to activate. She gets thrown out of the hotel room due to its force, and Yuuto suddenly remembers a forgotten memory with her where he wanted to protect her and help her defeat Ayakashi. He begins to regret everything he just told her, as she held onto his promise all this time. [[spoiler: Fortunately for him, she manages to teleport herself back into the room, then tries to find some common ground with him so he wouldn't hate her so much, such as not attacking Himari.]]

* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: Yuuto's Light Ferry ability seems to work on this principle, at least early on before he can summon and control it at will. Shizuku even points this out to him in episode 5 during their mock battle, where it didn't activate due to her unwillingness to really attack him and put him in real harm's way. Unlike when Ageha attacked and sent Himari into an UnstoppableRage, and later with Kuesu attempting to stab him after he rejects her marriage proposal.

* {{Tsundere}}:

** Kuesu (to some degree) for Yuuto, although that's more arrogance [[spoiler: and a ploy to forcefully awaken Yuuto's power and reawaken his memories, she becomes {{Tsundere}} after that. In episode 8 of the anime however, she clearly has that look in her face that many other females who fall into this trope have when she attacks him.]].

* AccidentalKiss: Himari and Yuuto share one in chapter 16.

** Himari herself experiences this when Kuesu first appears, and kisses him twice. Despite trying to ignore it, it bothers Himari so much that she demands that Yuuto give her a kiss as well. She will also occasionally leave her cat ears/tail out to "punish" him, such as in chapter 14 after three of the girls smother him while [[MarshmallowHell "training"]] him.

* ForgottenChildhoodFriend: Well, they aren't villains, but both Himari and Kuesu had been forgotten by Yuuto at the beginning of the story. Much to the consternation of both.

** Kuesu (to some degree) for Yuuto, although that's more arrogance [[spoiler: and a ploy to forcefully awaken Yuuto's power and reawaken his memories, she becomes {{Tsundere}} after that]].

* UndeadTaxExemption: Himari manages to transfer to Yuuto's class without too much question thanks to this trope. Although Yuuto does wonder about Himari's last name being Noihara, the same region his grandparents lived in.

* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Shizuku, who is ReallySevenHundredYearsOld, but [[TokenMiniMoe of course doesn't look like it]].

** TheHero: Yuuto

* ABoyAndHisX: A boy and his [[CatGirl cat demon]] [[BodyguardCrush bodyguard]] who fights [[TheKidWithTheRemoteControl for him]] (Or, as someone put it on a forum: "There's nothing like the relationship of a boy and [[UnwantedHarem his cat, snake, tea cup, best friend, and fiance.]]")

Also, both Himari and Shizuku can be violently crazy (yan-), but that's (mostly) unrelated to their feelings for Yuuto (-dere), so while the name fits, they aren't actual examples.

* ZettaiRyouiki: All the girls in Yuuto's harem sport this in one of her outfits. [[spoiler:Kaya in recent chapters.]]

Cue a HaremSeries with lots and LOTS of {{Fanservice}}. So far the manga has reached over 60 chapters, and it had already managed to hit every major {{Fanservice}} trope by around chapter 28.

* ArrangedMarriage: Between Kuesu and Yuuto. Though to her, it is a PerfectlyArrangedMarriage.

* POVBoyPosterGirl: Himari may be the series' title character and heroine, but Yuuto is the primary viewpoint protagonist.

The official english translation is smarter and more subtle about it by having her not use contractions as well as having her speech be more elaborate than that of the other characters.

* {{Masquerade}}: More as a side note. The "Public Safety Division 4" usually keeps things secret in Japan and works together with the Demon Slayers, other nations are stated to have similar groups.

** Kuesu would love to exterminate all demons on earth, even the innocent ones -- but doesn't, since Yuuto would hate her for it. ** [[spoiler:Shizuku would have killed the (innocent, powerless) descendant of the Demon Slayers that annihilated her clan, but stops for the same reason as Kuesu.]]

** Subverted: Himari is a white cat, and as a girl... it changes to black. Possibly lampshaded in an omake: "Shouldn't you stay white, since it's easier to draw?" The same omake explains that the hair color was inspired by another character's.

* OfCorsetsSexy: Kuesu in some of her outfits

** Himari's mother [[DeathByChildbirth died in childbirth]] and she never knew her father but believes it may have been a different kind of cat spirit or a wildcat (she was raised by Yuuto's grandparents, who are also dead).

* ProtectiveCharm: Yuuto was given one by his grandparents to keep him safe from demons until his 16th birthday. As shown in episode 1 of the anime, it begins to weaken, and the demons slowly become aware of his presence and attack. Fortunately Himari also arrives to protect him as well.

* PsychicLink: Tama seems to be unable -- or unwilling -- to communicate in any other way.
** Though it's never actually explained what it is. It might be anything from MindlinkMates to actual telepathy. Or Shuten Douji is just the only one who knows her enough or is observant enough to note what she means.

* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Shizuku with an age of at least 100 years. She explains her household skills by noting that before the destruction of her clan, daily chores like cooking and cleaning were more important than fighting... Said destruction was about 100 years ago.

Watching [[spoiler:Shuten-douji]] [[TakingTheBullet take the bullet]] for her, witnessing how dark and ''evil'' Himari's SuperpoweredEvilSide is, and getting {{Mind Rape}}ed by [[CallBack having her breast bitten in return for their first encounter]] is ''more'' than a freakout for her. In fact, she freak outs ''so hard'' that her mind was reverted to that of a playful child's in the next chapter following the aftermath.

On the day of his 16th birthday, this charm's power to protect Yuuto from the Ayakshi wilts and loses the power to protect Yuuto, and into Yuuto's life walks Himari. A cat spirit and samurai girl, she swears to protect Yuuto, who is revealed to be the sole descendant of a family of demon-hunters. Unfortunately, Yuuto is allergic to cats. More unfortunately, there are many demons after Yuuto's life. Fortunately, many of those demons are {{Cute Monster Girl}}s who end up falling in love with him.

* {{Action Girl}}s: Every girl except Rinko. The fact that they're actually using the "action" part and at the same time all have a crush on Yuuto probably also makes them...

* ActualPacifist: Yuuto is very close to this, at least partially. He really doesn't want to hurt anyone, and only does so if it is a matter of life and death... But still, he does let Himari fight for him, making her (and, at least in a way, himself as well, being her master) a TechnicalPacifist.
