''Kimi no Iru Machi'' (translated: A Town Where You Live) is a manga by Creator/SeoKouji, notable for his other series ''Manga/{{Suzuka}}''. Haruto Kirishima is a typical highschooler living in the countryside: worrying about school and his UnrequitedLove, Nanami Kanzaki. Everything's been normal until one day a stranger by the name of Yuzuki Eba announces that she's come from [[TokyoIsTheCentreOfTheUniverse Tokyo]] to the countryside (Hiroshima) to attend High School. What's more, she's going to be living at his house, which of course worries Haruto about how that will look on him. Life just got interesting when this stranger came to town.

The series is a blend of romantic drama and romantic comedy, said to be a "character-driven romance", and set in Seo Kouji's hometown. Over the course of its run, it seems to have gradually shifted towards more of a HaremComedy[=/=]drama based around {{Sitcom}}-ish misunderstandings and hijinks. The series began in May 2008 and ended in February 2014. A two-episode OVA series was released in 2012, followed by a TV anime series (with two OVA) in Summer2013Anime season.

----
!!This series provides examples of:
* [[TenMinuteRetirement 10 Minute Breakup]]: Done multiple times between Haruto and Yuzuki. If they have a fight or seem to seperate, expect them to make up or get back together within three chapters. Except in the ending, where Seo Kouji decides to throw caution to the wind and completely shake the story up by having them get back together out of the blue, get married, and have a kid at the age of 5 within four chapters.
* AbortedDeclarationOfLove: Done at the Kyoyasai after the school festival, Yuzuki turns Haruto down ''just before'' he asks her out.
* AccidentalPornomancer: Haruto. Count the number of female characters who haven't: a) attempted to jump his bones (often [[LadyDrunk drunkenly]]), b) been pictured in cheesecake poses to make him look like an AccidentalPervert, c) hinted at or outright admitted to being attracted to/having a crush on him, and then subtract that from the total number of female characters.
* ACupAngst: Mishima
-->'''Mishima:''' Besides, what's with that chest of hers?! What does she eat to get those?!
* AllWomenAreLustful: The overtones of this are unavoidable when the reader notices the sheer amount of female characters seemingly eager to either line up for a ride in the Haruto-go-round, or failing that just flirting with him extremely obviously (Rin and the driving instructor being noticeable examples of the latter). Turns outright {{Squick}}y when even Chisa, one of Yuzuki's former students and most certainly ''under'' the age of consent, way too easily decides to let Haruto have his way with her. Haruto calls her out on it.
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe:
** It seemed like Yuzuki was expecting Haruto to do this to her in Chapter 198. As she is visibly angry at him for not doing anything after she "went to sleep".
** She does this again when she comes to visit him, wondering when they are going to go to his place rather than sight seeing.
** Chisa actually seems non-plussed at the idea that Haruto is not going to have sex with her because of the small fact that it would be ''incredibly illegal'' because of her being underage.
* ArmourPiercingSlap: Both to Haruto, and by him. Quite satisfying for some of the readers out there.
* BabiesEverAfter: [[spoiler:Haruto and Yuzuki, in the last chapter.]]
* BathtubBonding: Asuka and Aoi do this regularly, Akari and Kiyomi are especially fond of it & Yuzuki takes Nanami off for a spot of this early on. Asuka is pulled into some group bath sessions on her first trip to Hiroshima, but they just end up upsetting her.
* BeneathTheMask: When Haruto first meets Rin Eba he wonders how such a level headed person could be related to [[CloudCuckooLander Yuzuki]], even if only as step-sisters. Eventually Rin gets tired enough of the mask that she completely discards it with Haruto, in fact she is more honest with herself around Haruto [[spoiler: and eventually Yuzuki]] that she doesn't put it back on around them, leading her to become...
* BitchInSheepsClothing:
%%** Rin seems to enjoy the ever-loving-crap out of this one.
%%** [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation Some seem to think of Yuzuki as this as well]].
* [[BlindDate Blind Mass Date]]: In Japan called a Goukon, Haruto is begged by one of his college friends to go with him to one so that the numbers will be even. [[spoiler: It is here where Haruto sees Yuzuki again after about two years.]]
* BrickJoke: [[spoiler: after Takashi gets Kiyomi [[spoiler: pregnant]], he decides to marry her. As practice, Haruto plays the role of Kiyomi's father. At first, Haruto jokes with the line "Eh, it happens. Just get married." and the group has to scold him into taking it seriously. After several days of practice and Takashi is off to see Kiyomi's parents, her father's response basically boils down to "Eh, it happens. Just get married."]]
* ButtMonkey: Mina Nagoshi, who manages to always misinterpret everything about Haruto to her own detriment.
* CharacterFocus: The focus of the story changes numerous times to the point where it's not really clear which girl is actually "winning."
* CompressedAdaptation: The anime leaves out large chunks of the manga material due to only having 12 episodes to work with while trying to cover some 270 manga chapters. As a result, a lot of TimeSkip takes place, along with many characters either being AdaptedOut, PutOnABus, or at best are OutOfFocus for a large portion of the anime.
* CoolBigSis: Haruto's older sister, Aoi. Easily.
* ConflictingLoyalty: Haruto deals with this a lot, [[spoiler: whether it be his feelings for Yuzuki versus his friendship with Kazama or his desire to be with Yuzuki over his connection to Asuka]], things get complicated as a result.
* ChastityCouple:
** Haruto and Asuka were together for almost two years and yet they never got past the occasional kiss.
** Haruto and Yuzuki did the same, up until issue 200.
* ChildhoodFriends: Haruto, Takashi and Akari, [[spoiler: also had no idea that he and Yuzuki met before the start of the series.]]
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Yuzuki Eba. Later on this aspect is toned down and replaced with [[SatelliteLoveInterest being Haruto's girlfriend]].
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Before the move Haruto claimed the reason he could not leave Yuzuki alone was because she would get into trouble without him there to keep her out of it.
* CovertPervert: Haruto's new neighbor Miyu DoesNotLikeMen, but manages to interpret every other thing Haruto says as something indecent. Not to mention, it doesn't take much to make her go along with them. She seems to show a more perverted side when drunk.
* CrossOver: After Kimi no iru Machi [[TheCameo cameos]] as a TV series in the manga A-Bout, there's a crossover chapter in the Kimi no iru Machi's official guidebook.
** There's also a bonus crossover chapter with another of Seo's works, ''Manga/PrincessLucia'' in one of the latter's volumes. A later Princess Lucia volume bonus has a crossover between nearly all of Seo's series.
* CruelToBeKind: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted.]] Haruto attempts to make Chisa dislike him, and when every other of his methods fails he tries acting like a complete sexist prick and demanding he "have his way with her". He is incredibly horrified when Chisa actually responds by lying down on the floor and inviting him to do so.
* CryIntoChest: Haruto pulls [[spoiler: Yuzuki]] into one of these after her breakdown.
%%* DamselInDistress: Yuzuki, much too often.
* DanceOfRomance: Averted, Haruto spends several chapters trying to dance with Yuzuki at the Kyoyasai after the school festival, only to cause a bigger misunderstanding with the people around him.
* DearJohnLetter: Yuzuki writes one to Haruto and puts it in a present she gave him, however it was several months (and several attempts to stay with her regardless) later that he actually found and read the letter. [[JerkAss It never crossed her mind at any point to tell him that she was just breaking up with him to pity date a friend of hers that was dying]].
* DeathGlare: Akari, Asakura, and Nanami portray some chillingly-textbook-perfect examples of this in chapter 115 and 117. Asuka as well in Chapter 116.
* DepravedHomosexual: [[TheScrappy A new girl]] added to the story whose sole characteristic is to [[AnythingThatMoves hit on every woman that cross her field of vision]].
%%* DerailingLoveInterests: And how.
%%"And how" is not a proper example.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Haruto is left discouraged by the fact that his friends and Yuzuki seem to have clearer goals in life; while he shows an aptitude and passion for cooking, he is unsure about whether he can do it for a living and instead ends up employed at a brewing company.
* DistractedByTheSexy:
** Haruto attempting to take Yuzuki to the convenience store so she could buy some underwear after getting her clothes wet. A gust of wind lifts up her skirt, and he gets a good PantyShot in, though he was under the impression that she GoingCommando at the time.
** Rin later claims she's not wearing a bra, then starts to pull her shirt so Haruto could get a glimpse of her breasts. Though he looks away, she still notices and teases him that he did peek initially.
%%* TheDitz:
%%** Yuzuki.
%%** Miyu, even harder.
%%** Chisa, Miyu's replacement as Haruto and Yuzuki's neighbour, continues the tradition.
%%Character names are not context. HOW do they fit this trope?
* DitzyGenius: Yuzuki most definitely. The Hiroshima arc shows that she's smarter than she lets on, consistently getting better grades opposed to all of her friends who at worst get average grades or above average at best, while Yuzuki's grades were borderline perfect. However, true to the trope, despite Yuzuki's surprisingly high intelligence, she's very naïve, having an uncanny ability of getting her into some rather amusing accidents and misunderstandings or in a more grave case, has a habit of handling serious problems in a completely wrong way that cause major problems. I.E. [[spoiler:Breaking up with Haruto to indulge Kazama's dying request to date her before he succumbs to his illness. While on principle it wasn't bad that Yuzuki wanted to make her first friend in Tokyo's last few days happier, but the ensuing drama between the three of them could've been avoided or at least mitigated if Yuzuki took the time to properly talk to Haruto and explain the situation instead of giving him a letter telling him they're breaking up and subsequently breaking off all contact with him, when she should know how persistent Haruto is and knows her well enough to see through that lie.]]
* DoesNotLikeMen: Haruto's new neighbor Miyu, due to being constantly hit on by persistent guys. [[spoiler:Haruto of course becomes the exception.]]
* TheDulcineaEffect: Even during the beginning of the series where he states he likes Kanzaki, he finds himself unable to leave Yuzuki alone whenever she's in trouble.
* DysfunctionalFamily: Essentially why Yuzuki moves to Hiroshima in the beginning of the story and why she leaves when there's a chance to fix it.
* EasilyForgiven: A lot of the screw ups that Yuzuki does to Haruto are often forgiven or not even thought of after she gives him a big eyed look. Thankfully averted by Haruto after [[spoiler:he breaks up very roughly with Asuka in chapter 141 to reunite with Yuzuki, leading his friends to ostracise him. It takes about 20 chapters until Haruto and Yuzuki start to gradually reconcile with Haruto's friends, in chapters 166 and 169.]]
* EveryoneCanSeeIt:
** Haruto and [[spoiler:Asuka]]. Their first encounter definitely qualifies as a MeetCute.
** Haruto and Yuzuki being the most blatant from the beginning.
* EarlyBirdCameo: [[spoiler:[[Manga/{{Fuuka}} Fuuka Akitsuki]] makes a very brief appearance in the final chapter... which coincides with the debut chapter of the manga where she appears in.]]
* {{Fainting}}: Yuzuki suddenly faints in the middle of the train station in chapter 255, and awakens later in hospital to be informed that it was due to excessive stress and exhaustion. Some slight FridgeBrilliance is involved: Yuzuki always shows up in Kochi in the morning, despite the fact that Kochi does not have a direct UsefulNotes/HighSpeedRail link to Tokyo and she would have to change trains at one point; this sets up Rin's revealing to Haruto that she was actually taking the night bus because she couldn't really afford the trips, doing all of her work on it and waiting in an internet café until Haruto arrived.
* FalseRapeAccusation: A girl comes up to Haruto and explains that she knew the guy that Asuka was seeing and he dumped her after they had sex. It turns out this was a complete lie and she just wanted to break them up so she [[spoiler:could go after Asuka]]. What was her punishment? [[EasilyForgiven A "I'm sorry" and all was forgiven]].
* FirstGirlWins: Haruto and [[spoiler: Yuzuki Eba]]. Although Haruto liked [[spoiler: Nanami Kanzaki]] before [[spoiler: Yuzuki]], he actually met [[spoiler:Yuzuki]] first at a festival when they were young. Thus stating that [[spoiler: Yuzuki Eba]] was the first to meet Haruto.
* FriendlessBackground: [[spoiler: Haruto abruptly turns around when he sees all of his old friends talking with Asuka on the other side of a street.]]
%%* {{Fanservice}}
* FromBadToWorse: Haruto gets caught coming out of a love hotel with another woman by Nanami while he's dating Asuka which earns him a nasty look, than later on he gets an opportunity to explain himself to her, Akari, and Kiyomi sporting equally nasty looks. If looks could kill, this story would've ended sooner...
* GenkiGirl: Yuzuki is an airhead, an extremely energetic one at that.
* GoodGirlsAvoidAbortion: After it turns out the Kiyomi [[spoiler: is pregnant]], both her and Takashi separately come to the conclusion [[spoiler: to keep the baby]].
* IllBoy: Kazama. He does a fairly good job at hiding it however.
* InnocentCohabitation: Yuzuki initially ''lives'' with Haruto and Asuka might has well have, though nothing happened at those times.
* InVinoVeritas: Haruto's neighbor Miyu is normally something of a ShrinkingViolet. Give her a little alcohol and she loosens up to borderline GenkiGirl levels. She's also makes for a Mean Drunk.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Why the story can get really complicated.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: When a party is thrown for Miyu prior to her leaving to study abroad in chapter 229, flashbacks and inner monologue show Haruto and Yuzuki consider her to be this, as her cheerful disposition frequently lightened the mood during Haruto's period of FriendlessBackground and hostility to Yuzuki's father, and her comically bad [[PoorCommunicationKills communication skills]] actually drove them to reconcile during the Okinawan vacation.
* LongDistanceRelationship: Attempted by Haruto with Yuzuki, but the first time, things... happen. He is currently trying it again after being posted to work in Kochi while Yuzuki remains in Tokyo, with... somewhat more success.
** [[spoiler: Until Haruto breaks up with Yuzuki in chapter 256.]]
** Haruto's co-worker also attempted this... less successfully.
* LoveConfession: Yuzuki gives multiples of these to Haruto, who gives a few of these to her in return.
* LoveDodecahedron: It eventually evolves into this once the Tokyo arc gets past TheReveal.
* LoveEpiphany:
** Happens to Haruto after Nanami and his sister point out to him who he's really been in love with all along.
** [[spoiler:Rin realizes far too late that she loves Haruto when a friend points out that, despite claiming she's happy Haruto and her sister have taken their relationship to the next level, she's crying.]]
* LoveTriangle: The beginning of the manga starts off with one for three primary leads: Yuzuki, Haruto, and Nanami.
* LoveHurts
* ManicPixieDreamGirl: Yuzuki comes across as this early on, [[SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl when she is much more enthusiastic and optimistic while Haruto is withdrawn and resentful about having her living with his family]].
* TheMatchmaker: Rin ends up doing this for Haruto, setting up a date with him, then not showing up at the meeting spot. Instead he finds Yuzuki there. [[spoiler:By this point in time he's dating Asuka, and was trying to move on with his life, but Rin didn't seem happy that he wasn't dating her sister after the trouble of transferring to Tokyo to be near her.]]
* {{Meido}}: They decide to do a made cafe for the summer festival.
* MistakenDeclarationOfLove: ''Several'' of Haruto's classmates throughout the story believe he has done as such.
* MomentKiller:
** Asuka calls [[spoiler: Haruto]] just in time to avert a Make Up Kiss.
** Rin reveals her presence just in time to avert a very romantic kiss in Chapter 155.
** At this point it pretty much feels like Seo's only trick, as you can easily spot the set up for one.
* MultipleEndings: Alternative chapters [[TheirFirstTime 200]] were published with anime volumes. They also serve as alternative endings with other heroines.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: An interesting variation of this occurs. Though no one is actually murdered per se, [[spoiler:Kazama, Yuzuki's boyfriend, conveniently has a SoapOperaDisease and is going to die within a year, hence why Yuzuki decided to give him a happy last year. He attempts to undergo a surgery that could save his life, but instead it fails and he dies from the attempt.]]
* NoodleIncident: Yuzuki offered Haruto a ride on her bike shortly after she learned how to use one, cue next panel where the mechanic that is fixing Haruto's bike now has another to repair. This incident is called back to at least twice later.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: This plot is recycled so often, it's best if you ''don't'' try taking a shot every time Haruto or anybody else says this; the risk of alcohol poisoning is too strong. The "Cats Aren't That Bad" and "Crabs" chapters are particularly heavy-handed about it, but the chapter detailing how Haruto spent the night at his ex-girlfriend Asuka's house after getting totally FUBAR drunk is close behind.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Rin claims Yuzuki is to dumb to be her rival and in the beginning Haruto thinks along the same lines, however the Tokyo Arc seems to go to lengths to show her as this and she had typically higher grades than the other students in Hiroshima.
* OhCrap: Haruto at the end of episode 11, [[spoiler:when he sees Asuka waiting for him by the front door of his parent's house. He claimed earlier he was home when she called, and she sees him coming home late with Yuzuki.]]
* OneDialogueTwoConversations: This manga could be considered TheSeries of this trope. Seriously one cannot go three chapters without the [[IdiotPlot story of the week situation around a character thinking of one thing and everyone else thinking of something entirely different]]. Though it doesn't help that the characters have a habit of using vague comments.
** Yuzuki being told that erectile dysfunction could lead to failed relationships. Believing the it is some kind of Gum Disease she goes around casually asking all of her friends about Haruto possibly having this.
** Yuzuki's friend asks if she and Haruto would like to try this sometime to which she holds up a magazine with an article about a vacation. Yuzuki sees another article about sexual exploration and thinks she wants to have a threesome, and is later shocked that Haruto is so casual about accepting. (The scanslation [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] the fact that the joke doesn't translate well to English, since it relies on a {{Pun}} based on the meanings of the verb "to go on" in Japanese.)
** Haruto is on a trip with an old female friend to which he causally mentions that he met up with someone he hasn't seen in awhile and is happy to be with her. While he was talking about his girlfriend Yuzuki, she believed he was confessing his feelings to her.
** Then there is the situation where Haruto's female neighbour Miyu asked if there was anything she could do to help him after he helped her earlier. He comments that she could help help him with a load he needs to get out. While he is talking about his dirty laundry, she assumed he wanted to have sex with her.
** And yet again when Miyu tried to get Haruto and Yuzuki back together. Through her jokes to break the tension Haruto assumed that Yuzuki wanted to break up with him and Yuzuki assumed Haruto wanted to commit suicide.
** Frankly, somewhere between "half" and "most" of the series wouldn't happen if the characters were capable of communicating clearly and directly like adult human beings.
* OutOfFocus: Quite a few characters come and go over the course of the series, like Nurumi Kanzaki or Kikukawa, but the character with the steepest drop in prominence is probably Nanami, who went from one of the major focuses and love interests in the series with plenty of cover appearances to boot, to one of the most minor supporting characters, with less dialogue & character interaction than the rest of the supporting cast and no more cover or chapter title appearances for about 100 issues. She also tends to appear at the back of group shots.
* OverprotectiveDad: A somewhat downplayed case with Yuzuki's father who causes some issues for Yuzuki and Haruto after they get back together.
* PairTheSpares: By the end pretty much the entire cast has gotten into a relationship. Even [[spoiler: Nanami, much to the [[DieForOurShip ire of her fans]]]].
* ParentalNeglect: Yuzuki felt subjected to this for most of her life by her father which is partially why she moved to Hiroshima in the beginning.
* PleaseDontLeaveMe:
** All but actually said by [[spoiler: Asuka]] when [[spoiler: she]] feels the distance between [[spoiler: herself and Haruto]] grow after they come back from Hiroshima together.
** Haruto and Yuzuki seem to have made a commitment to never leave each other again. (Cue interference from life.)
* PromotedToLoveInterest: Asuka and Haruto started out as awkward friends who gathered around Kazama, [[spoiler: after he died]] they decided to pursue a romantic relationship, [[MeetCute the spark was there after all.]]
* RedStringOfFate: The initial OVA released in 2012 blatantly ends with the implication that even if Haruto and Yuzuki are in a difficult long distance relationship, they're bound together by akai ito. The manga itself does support this, no matter what life puts Haruto and Yuzuki through: break-ups from the distance, individual relationships, years of not seeing each other, parental intervention, the universe always seemed to find ''some'' way to bring them back together.
* RelationshipSabotage: Used a few times:
** Haruto intentionally does this towards Yuzuki [[spoiler:and Kazama]], stating he can't be friends with them while still being in love with her. Interestingly his rival takes him up on it, rather than beating him up like you'd probably expect him to in this kind of situation. Yuzuki meanwhile isn't happy about being fought over.
** Rin does this towards Haruto when she finds out he's dating someone other than Yuzuki. [[spoiler:She has Yuzuki go on a group date, and Asuka, his girlfriend at the time, surprisingly allows him to go. Rin later asks how her sister was doing after they met at said group date, which Haruto didn't tell Asuka about. She later sets up a date with him and Yuzuki.]]
* RelationshipUpgrade: One of the signs of this taking place between Haruto and Yuzuki is that Haruto stops calling Yuzuki [[LastNameBasis "Eba"]] and switches to calling her [[FirstNameBasis "Yuzuki" instead]].
* RuleOfDrama: Yes. Especially when the plot starts focusing on Yuzuki.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Haruto and Yuzuki have this dynamic in the start.
* SecondActBreakUp: Mutual between Haruto and Yuzuki. [[spoiler: However Haruto and Asuka, not so much...]]
* SecondLove: [[spoiler:Asuka Mishima is this to Haruto. Unfortunately Rin doesn't like this, so she [[RelationshipSabotage torpedoes]] this relationship in order to [[ShipSinking break them up]]]].
* SheIsAllGrownUp: She was no slouch to begin with, but after two years apart Yuzuki became ''stunning.''
* ShipperOnDeck: Rin for Yuzuki and Haruto.
* ShipSinking: [[spoiler:The aftermath of the Tokyo arc goes to no short lengths to tell the reader that Haruto/Yuzuki is ''not'' happening. Likewise, Nanami tells Haruto that he's too late when he returns home over the winter break.]] Finally [[spoiler:de-sunk]] as of chapters 140-141, with [[spoiler: Haruto and Yuzuki]] being promoted to an OfficialCouple and even proposing marriage in issue 235. And then [[spoiler:''re''-sunk]] in chapter 256. And finally [[spoiler:'''re'''-de-sunk]] in chapter 260, just in time for the ending.
* ShotgunWedding: Turns out [[spoiler: Kiyomi's parents had one, which makes it easier for her and Takashi to admit that they are getting married and she is pregnant]].
* SkewedPriorities: An amusing example comes after Haruto and Yuzuki rekindle their relationship: when Yuzuki's parents initially decide to move to Nagoya and the possibility that they'll bring her along is in the air in chapter 153, Haruto is very overdramatic about it and resolves to convince Yuzuki's parents to let her stay in Tokyo, despite the fact that Nagoya is only 3 hours of Shinkansen high-speed rail service away from Tokyo. Later in the plot, Haruto is way more accepting and literally responds that ItCantBeHelped when his employer sends him to Kochi in chapters 247-248, despite the fact that Kochi would be at least ''7 hours away'' (going by Google Maps) and does not have any direct high-speed rail connections to Tokyo, meaning that Haruto and Yuzuki would only be capable of visiting each other on the weekends, which proved heavily stressful to Yuzuki. (Either that, or Haruto just fails at Japanese geography.)
* SnowMeansLove:
** Haruto takes Yuzuki to see a local event where ice on a lake will crystallize into something that looks like a flower, it was after this that Yuzuki agreed to a LongDistanceRelationship with him.
** It was also snowing when Haruto and Asuka confessed to each other.
* SoapOperaDisease: Kazama is afflicted with a disease that's going to kill him within a year or so, but it's never quite explained what he has. Supposedly there's a surgery that he could undertake which could remove the disease, [[spoiler:but of course, RuleOfDrama dictates that it doesn't go well, so said surgery ends up killing him instead.]]
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: Miyu seems to have this problem.
* SquaringTheLoveTriangle: After he gets to Tokyo Haruto is in a pretty standard LoveTriangle with Yuzuki and Kazama, both of whom share feelings for her. Then Kiyomi Asakura shows up.
* StepfordSmiler: Yuzuki and Akari.
* TakeThat: To George Morikawa in response to his own TakeThat to the more recent plot elements of ''Kimi no Iru Machi'' in ''Manga/HajimeNoIppo''... maybe. It's like he attempted to return fire without a witty counter.
* TheTease: Rin enjoys toying around with Haruto.
* ThoseTwoGuys: More like that couple: Kaga and Yura, though they aren't in a relationship.
* ThreeAmigos: [[TheProtagonist Haruto]], [[CasanovaWannabe Takashi]], and [[TomboyWithAGirlyStreak Akari]]. These three are so close, they can immediately tell something is wrong each other with simple glances, and are bawling while making fun of each other at [[spoiler:Akari's wedding]].
* [[ThroughHisStomach Through Her Stomach:]] This was Haruto's plan to win back Yuzuki from Kazama.
* TimeSkip: Two in less than 10 chapters.
* ToneShift: [[spoiler: With all relational conflicts more or less resolved in the third quarter, the final quarter switches from romance drama to romance sitcom for the most part.]]
* TrainStationGoodbye: How Yuzuki gets together with ''and'' breaks up with Haruto. At least the first time anyway... and the second time...
* {{Tsundere}}:
** Amagi, the chef that Haruto worked under part-time.
** Haruto for Yuzuki.
* TrueBlueFemininity: Nanami, who is usually gentle, sweet-natured and loves cooking usually wears blue.
* [[UnderstandingBoyfriend Understanding Girlfriend:]] Asuka was almost ''saintly'' in what Haruto put her through (His college buddy forcing him to the Goukon, the very existence of Shiori Amaya and the notes that get passed around about them doing it on their trip to Okinawa). However all that came to a crashing end eventually.
* TrueCompanions: For the most part the entire cast is this. They're a close knit group where even if there is some friction between them, you'd be better believe they'll be all to happy to reconcile and rekindle their friendship and be closer than ever afterwards.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Akari for Haruto, Kiyomi for Kazuma.
* UnwantedHarem: A rather small one, but it's still there, around Haruto.
** Small? It may include [[spoiler: Yuzuki, Rin, Nanami, Akari, Shiho?, Asuka, Nagoshi and... possibly Kotone? At least 4, definitely.]]
** Really, when even newly introduced female characters somehow find their way into suggestive poses around Haruto or outright try to jump him, the series starts to be less of a romantic comedy/drama, and more of a harem comedy.
* TheVerse: Takes place in the same world as ''Manga/{{Suzuka}}'', ''Manga/PrincessLucia'', and ''Manga/{{Fuuka}}''.
* VirginTension: Nanami decides to bring up her virginity in an arc that introduces a potential boyfriend for her, who is soon rumoured to be a womanizer. This is quite an odd thing for Nanami, a normally shy and reserved girl, to mention to Haruto who she isn't even on a first-name-basis with, and somewhat unnecessary, as her chastity should be a foregone conclusion given her personality and non-extistent dating history
* WeUsedToBeFriends: ''Everyone'' Haruto and Yuzuki were friends with before they got back together. To the point that Haruto was given the ultimatum to fix his relationship with Asuka or flat out lose their freindship, by his [[SarcasmMode Best Friend]] of all people.
* WhamEpisode:
** Chapter 49, 89, and 100. Especially once it's clear that [[spoiler:Yuzuki x Haruto is sunk following their friend/rival's death]].
** Chapter 119: [[spoiler: Yuzuki returns after a long absence.]]
** Chapter 140-141: [[spoiler: Haruto breaks up with Asuka. Yuzuki x Haruto is raised and recommissioned.]]
** Chapter 256: [[spoiler:Yuzuki x Haruto is re-sunk. Any bets on number of chapters until the re-raising and recommissioning?]]
** Chapter 260: [[spoiler:Haruto is transferred back to Tokyo. Yuzuki x Haruto is re-re-raised and re-recommissioned.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: Averted for the most part, much to the consternation of most of the fanbase. Defied as of chapter 141, [[spoiler: just about all of Haruto's friends call him out on breaking up with Asuka and even Yuzuki gets called out for it. However they decide that their relationship together is what they want and pursue it regardless.]]
* {{Yandere}}:
** Haruto displays some yandere characteristics in the Tokyo arc, especially after he learns why Yuzuki broke up with him.
** Nanami. If she does indeed have feelings for Haruto (though it's unlikely) then she would be this. For reference, please look under DeathGlare. Also, she has [[{{Yandere}} Yandere eyes]] that would give [[VisualNovel/SchoolDays Kotonoha Katsura]] a run for her money.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Haruto tells Takashi when Takashi feels that he doesn't measure up to Kazama, whom Kiyomi loved [[spoiler: before his death]].
* YouAreNotAlone: [[spoiler: Yuzuki intended to leave Haruto's life forever after she said goodbye to his hometown, cue Haruto giving her one of these as well as a CooldownHug at the end of her speech.]]

* ACupAngst: Mishima
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe:
* BitchInSheepsClothing:
* ChastityCouple:
* DistractedByTheSexy:
* EveryoneCanSeeIt:
%%* {{Fanservice}}
* LoveEpiphany:
* LoveHurts
* MomentKiller:
* PleaseDontLeaveMe:
* SnowMeansLove:
* StepfordSmiler: Yuzuki and Akari.
* {{Tsundere}}:
* WhamEpisode:
* {{Yandere}}:
