* AdaptedOut: In a case related to the Adaptation Expansion above, Dr. Akechi doesn't appear in the series despite being established in ''Man of Many Faces'' as the head of CLAMP School's infirmary, being replaced by the female Dr. Manabe. Same with Ryusuke Kobayashi, whose presence would have been logical in the episodes concerning 20 Faces. Akira's mothers get mentioned, but are absent as well.

* AdaptationalHeroism: In the anime, the girl who wanted to prevent the school dance from happening accidentally throws Nokoru off the balustrade after an emotional struggle. In the manga, however, she pushes him intentionally (granted, she admits doing it with the hopes of only injuring him enough to make him skip the dance, but the act is quite brutal itself).

* BigBrotherInstinct: Develops into something more

* BlackComedyBurst: In the manga, Akira panics believing that Nokoru just committed suicide for the amount of paperwork when he sees him jumping off the window. ItMakesSenseInContext.

to:

* IHaveTheHighGround: [[spoiler:The last episodes' antagonist was fond of hiding in tall places, like Strangely enough, the School's clock tower.]]Chairwoman is shown standing on the school's pole in the opening, apparently for no other reason than trying to make her pass for the BigBad of the series, or just for RuleOfCool. As she is never noted to be other thing than a regular old lady, it's pretty incredible how could she get up there.

Added DiffLines:

* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: In the manga's chapter, after the disappareance of the Chairwoman's list, Akira immediately and rushedly dismisses 20 Faces as the perpetrator, dspite nobody suggesting the idea.

** LawyerFriendlyCameo / WritingAroundTrademarks: Apparently, the Chairwoman is based on a character named Imonoyama Rarisa, who appeared in some of CLAMP's old doujinshi (SHOTEN, possibly). However, some of CLAMP's members split in the interim, and one of them took the rights to the character Rarisa with her. So the face hiding and general crypticness surrounding the Chairwoman was basically due to avoiding trademark/copyright.

* AdaptationExpansion: The original 3-volume manga series was basically a series of vignette stories about the boys solving crime, and it had no proper ending. The 26-episode anime gave more insight into the backstories of the heroes, gave significant attention to the two main couples, Suoh/Nagisa and Akira/Utako, and even gave Nokoru a nemesis in the finale to test his might.

The 26-episode anime gave more insight into the backstories of the heroes, gave significant attention to the two main couples, Suoh/Nagisa and Akira/Utako, incorporated the events from ''Man of Many Faces'' in a new single continuity, and even gave Nokoru a nemesis in the finale to test his might.

* BroadStrokes: In the manga, Akira's secret identity as 20 Faces and his duty as a CLAMP Detective never clash, and they take place in separate series, though still in the same continuity. In the anime, however, some events of his relationship with Utako take place in a different way and are involved with the detective club due to happening during the case of a 20 Faces imposter. The rest of ''Man of 20 Faces'', as seen in flashbacks, apprently goes exactly like in the manga.

* OneHeadTaller: Straight in Suoh-Nagisa, inverted in Akira-Utako.

* WiseBeyondTheirYears: I'm sorry, but these are supposed to be ''4th to 6th grade boys?'' Not to mention Utako and Nagisa can hold rather sophisticated conversations when they're ''kindergarteners''.

* CombatParkour: Akira's (and in a lesser extent Nokoru') form of hand-to-hand combat, as opposed to Suoh's martial arts.
