This is where a human character and an animal companion [[NamesTheSame share a name]] for some reason. This can work one of two ways:

* Subverted in ''WolfsRain''. After feeding a stray dog a girl named Leara meets a boy who says the dog's called Toboe. She's confused when he later calls himself Toboe. He claims this is because he and the dog are so alike. It's probably not spoileriffic to reveal that the dog is actually a wolf, and that the boy and wolf share the same name because they are one and the same. When Leara finds out the truth she freaks out, to his dismay.
