Oh god the original paragraph I replaced was such a bizarre misreading of Thog's character. I was originally just going to delete the paragraph altogether, but I realized that the misreading might actually be an interesting lens to examine this trope.

Even Steve agrees that his actions make him "dangerous" when Spidey points it out and complements the kid saying "he's got heart".

As the book goes on he becomes more and more aware of Henry's crumbling sanity and at one point approaches the Loser's Club to warn them of it. But later on it's revealed that Souma also dislikes the student council, meaning that only the leader is really an antagonist. And even Keito ultimately encourages Mao to return to Trickstar, with words that imply he regrets going along with Eichi's plans.

For that matter, the group's first leader, Wrestling/PrinceDevitt, eventually became more noble while the rest of the group...didn't. Styles and the Bucks joined latter, rather than Wrestling/DocGallows, Wrestling/KarlAnderson or Tama Tonga getting nicer.
