** Actually Panettiere and {{Heroes}} costar Milo Ventimiglia were dating very, very soon after she turned 18 (she was 17 when Heroes began) - so soon that it was almost certainly this trope.

* The Brazillian SoapOpera ''Xica da Silva'' is one of the grossest examples of this. The soap's many nude scenes with leading actress Taís Araujo were ''shot'' when she was seventeen, but couldn't be screened before she turned eighteen. According to the actress herself, some tabloids actually kept countdowns to her eighteenth birthday, so they could see a half naked seventeen-year-old. The actress considers this work an OldShame for this reason.

** There is more than a bit of hypocrisy in this example. The countdown itself is not squicky, or it's a retarted wet dream: one should be waiting for the age of consent of children that will be grown up at the time. Meaning that they are ''no more the person your are looking for'', luckly. On the other side, telling people that they should not going to look for it on the internet, oh so ''please ''don't search for it...

This happens a lot with teenage actresses in RealLife. This is however, less about waiting until they're legal to go after them, and more about them being old enough that you can [[OrSoIHeard finally admit]] that you find them attractive without fear of coming across as a [[{{Lolicon}} creep]]. It's also done because people may be waiting for a young celebrity to be old enough to legally pose for nude pictures or do nude scenes. This is also the premise behind "barely legal" pornography, which features 18 year-old-actors [[DawsonCasting deliberately chosen to look younger than that]].

* In ''QuestionableContent'', Steve was dating Ellen and got freaked out when he heard she was underaged. When she turned legal age, they pretty much locked themselves in their bedroom for a day.

** A men's magazine (GQ or some such) had a calendar in one of their 1999 issues with June 9th marked "Natalie Portman, whom we admire solely for her acting ability, turns 18 today."

** In ''ToSailBeyondTheSunset,'' the (male) protagonist meets a cute little girl on anarchistic Luna. Fun with space and time later (a few months, subjectively), and ShesAllGrownUp... and not interested in the guy.
