* ''Theatre/MasterHaroldAndTheBoys'': At one point, Harold loses his temper and orders Sam to call him "Master Harold" instead of "Hally", then spits in Sam's face.

* Alyx does it to Dr. Breen in ''VideoGame/HalfLife2''.
* The GoldenEnding of ''VideoGame/HeavyRain'' has [[spoiler:Laura spitting on Scott's grave after discovering he's the Origami Killer]].

* Nero does this to Agnus in ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry4'' after the latter [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice impaled him on a lance.]] At that point, though, it's more [[BloodFromTheMouth blood]] than saliva.

** In [[VideoGame/TheWalkingDeadSeasonThree Season 3]], the player can have Clementine spit on David Garcia, one of the leaders of the New Frontier for taking away A.J. and kicking her out.

* In ''VideoGame/DestroyAllHumans2'' during a cutscene, one of the KGB agents spits at the thought of the Americans and the alien they're after.

* In ''VideoGame/SaintsRow2'', after Gat brings a Ronin in who was snooping around Saints turf in the mission "Road Rage" the protagonist asks him what he was doing. He spits in his/her face in which Gat responds "That wasn't very nice." and proceeds to bash him into the coffee table. After further interrogation methods fail Gat pulls out a pistol and finishes him off. The protagonist proceeds to spit on him in return.

* A flashback in ''VideoGame/Yakuza4'' reveals that Goro Majima spit in the face of the man beating him, and then refused to apologize, resulting in the [[EyeScream loss of his eye]].
* In ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUsPartII'' Yara spits in the face of Emily, a Seraphite interrogating her. She then gets her arm broken with a hammer by the others as a result.
* In ''VideoGame/Battlefield1'' As Zara is taunted by Tilkici as he's getting ready to kill her she spits in his face, grabs his knife, and then stabs him in the throat. She then cuts her legs free from the rope he tied her with.

* In ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyModernWarfare2019'' the player can have Farah [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_3Yy9FaDI0 do this repeatedly to Barkov when he's interrogating her]].
* In ''VideoGame/GodOfWarPS4'', the Witch of the Woods revives Mimir's head. After confirming that the ritual worked and Mimir can speak and understand her...she spits in his face. [[spoiler:This is because the Witch, aka Freya, has not forgiven Mimir for arranging her disastrous marriage with Odin.]]
* ''VideoGame/Persona5'': As part of his EstablishingCharacterMoment Shadow Kamoshida does this to Ryuji after taking a fair bit of time to casually pick him up and punch him in the face repeatedly.
* ''VideoGame/HomefrontTheRevolution'' has Harvey spit blood (he was wounded) on the interrogator for killing Mary. He grabs a hammer and smacks him dead on the head for doing so.

* In ''Film/DesertHeat'', Jessie Hogan spitefully spits a large stream of tobacco juice onto the floor of a pawn shop he just finished extorting, maintaining eye contact the entire time.
* Creator/DavidLynch's ''Film/Dune1984''
** Subverted when Liet-Kynes spits on the table in front of Duke Lete Atreides. Duke Leto recognizes the gesture as being friendly (due to how precious any moisture is on a desert planet) and stops Gurney Halleck from mistaking it for this trope and stabbing him.
** Played straight when Baron Vladimir Harkonnen spits on Jessica Atreides. She's BoundAndGagged so is not in a position to avoid it.
* In ''Film/RoboCop1987'', when Robo arrests crime lord Clarence Boddicker after shooting up his drug lab, Clarence spits blood in his face (Robo had [[ExtremeMeleeRevenge roughed him up just a bit]] by throwing him through a couple of glass windows).
* Done symbolically in ''Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan'' by Khan: [quoting from Melville's ''Literature/MobyDick''] "To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!"
* In ''Film/{{Savages}}'' after learning that she was raped by El Lado, Ophelia spits in his face. He responds by licking it up.
* ''Film/TheMonumentsMen''. German officer Viktor Stahl tells French archivist Claire Simon to [[YouGetMeCoffee fetch him another champagne glass]] so he can share a toast with Hermann Goering. She selects a glass from the kitchen and spits in it. A member of the staff is looking on in surprise, but [[ZeroPercentApprovalRating when Claire informs her it's for Stahl she spits in the glass as well]].

* In ''Film/TheProfessional'', Mathilda spits at a SWAT officer after he removes his hand from her mouth.
* Two examples in the ''Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean'' series:
** In ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanTheCurseOfTheBlackPearl'', Koehler does this toward Jack Sparrow when he discovers him in the jail.
** In ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanOnStrangerTides'', Captain Barbossa spits on a Spanish soldier he's just cut down.
* In ''Film/TheHunt2012'', Marcus spits Klara in the face as a sign of his utter contempt for her FalseRapeAccusation against his father.
* In ''Film/GangsOfNewYork'', Amsterdam spits blood in Bill Cutting's face while pinned to a table and threatened with disfigurement. This prompts Bill to headbutt him viciously. (During the filming of the latter, Creator/DanielDayLewis broke his nose.)
* Barney Ross does this upon defeating Vilain at the end of ''Film/TheExpendables2''.
* ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad'' has a couple of these. When Nux is gloating to Furiosa what Joe will do to her, she spits on him. He responds by spitting back. Then at the end, after Furiosa [[spoiler: [[TearOffYourFace brutally rips Immortan Joe's face off]]]], Toast spits at his corpse.
* PlayedForLaughs in ''Film/TopSecret''. After the East German general tells Nick Rivers that his manager is dead and that no one will be coming to save him, Nick spits ''across the room'' in the general's face.
* In ''Film/HoboWithAShotgun'' the hobo spits on a pedophile dressed as Santa Claus in his car before blowing his brains out.
* In ''Film/KeyLargo'', Nora spits in the face of BigBad Rocco out of contempt.
* In ''Film/TheConqueror'', when Temujin is captured by the Mongol leader, he announces, "I regret that I cannot salute you as I would. I am bereft of spit."
* ''Film/SaltOfTheEarth'': A disgusted Juan does this when he catches Ramon, a fellow Mexican, trying to break through the picket line. This is all the sheriff needs to arrest Juan on assault charges.
* ''Film/AndStarringPanchoVillaAsHimself''. A grieving widow spits in Pancho Villa's face after she's told her son has been killed. Villa executes her on the spot, to the shock of the watching American moviemakers who'd been portraying Villa as JustLikeRobinHood.
* In the Creator/BobHope[=/=]Music/BingCrosby film ''Film/RoadToMorocco'', a camel expresses its displeasure by spitting in Hope's eye.
* In the Australian cult movie ''Film/{{Stone}}'', the Satan-worshipping biker Dr Death is crawling through a graveyard after being shot. Coming across a beautiful angel statue, he defiantly spits BloodFromTheMouth over it.
* In flashback in ''Film/BringMeTheHeadOfTheMachineGunWoman'', the Machine Gun Woman spits in Longara's face on the dance floor of the Tango Club.
* In ''Film/TheDeathOfStalin'', Vasily tries to do this when he's tackled and held down. It backfires and [[EpicFail the spit hits his own forehead]].
* In ''Film/StarKid'' Manfred or Turbo as he likes to be known, knocks Spencer's comic book on the ground as he's bullying him, spits in it, and shoves it back at him.
* Done off-screen in ''Film/{{Gattaca}}''. The murderer is discovered when his DNA is found in the spit he left in the victim's eye.

* ''Film/TheLongGoodFriday''. At the start of the movie, a women dressed in WidowsWeeds lifts her veil to spit at [[LondonGangster Harold Shand]]'s right-hand man. Shand assumes it's a personal matter and doesn't think to follow it up until later, when it becomes obvious that there are things going on in his criminal organisation that he hasn't been told about. The scriptwriter Barrie Keeffe drew inspiration from a [[WriteWhatYouKnow similar incident that happened to him]] when he was a reporter.
* Ahn deliberately spits on Brock's grave at the end of his funeral in ''Film/ColdPursuit''.
* In ''Film/TheDarkKnight'', after Batman crashes the Batpod, one of the Joker's lackeys starts to unmask him but is stunned by the electrified clasps on the cowl. Joker does a manic stomp dance on the lackey and then spits on him.
* ''Film/JohnWickChapter3Parabellum''. John Wick has to [[CrossingTheDesert walk out into the desert]] to meet the Elder or die trying. His DistaffCounterpart Sofia (whom he's just [[TeethClenchedTeamwork fought side-by-side with]]) looks like she's going to give what's left in her water bottle to John, only to drink it herself, use what's left to rinse out her mouth and then spit that back into the bottle which she ''then'' hands to John. Given the [[NoodleIncident ambiguous nature]] of their past history, it's either SpitefulSpit or a [[TakeThatKiss Take That]] IndirectKiss.
* In ''Film/{{Magnolia}}'' Frank Mackey symbolically spits onto the journalist at the end of their interview as he got fed up with her poking in his DarkAndTroubledPast.
* ''Film/SnuffMovie'': When Angie is died to a chair and Jack is lambasting her for having sex with Matt, she shuts him up by spitting in his face.
* In ''Film/RelativeFear'', Adam's mother screams at the doctors and nurses for taking her son away, and spits on one of their faces.
* In the movie version of ''Theatre/FiddlerOnTheRoof'', Golde frequently mimes spitting when talking about people she doesn't approve of.

* ''Film/StarredUp'': When Eric seals himself in his cell, he spits at Haynes who is looking at him therough the view slot. The gob is stopped by the perspex in the slot, however.
* ''Film/DemonKnight'': When the Collector attempts to tempt Jeryline into letting him into the hotel, her response is to spit in his face.
* ''Film/TerrorAtBlackFalls'': Billy, one of the saloon's patrons, spits at Juan but falls several feet short. This starts a confrontation that ends with Billy dead.
* ''Theatre/{{Coriolanus}}'' (2011). After General Martius gives the protestors TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, a female protestor replies for them all by spitting on the ground. His only response is a contemptuous DeathGlare and to walk off while his riot troops advance to drive them away.
* ''Film/BloodyMama'': When the sheriff tells Kate that a girl named Suzie Turner accused the Barker boys of raping her, Kate says, "All right then, you just spit on her for me," and spits in the dust.
* In ''Film/TheStrawberryStatement'', a cop [[PoliceBrutality hits a protester in the face with his baton]]. The protester spits blood on the cop's helmet.
* In ''Film/{{Willow}}'', [[spoiler: Airk]] spits in [[spoiler: Kael]]'s face after the latter runs him through.
* ''Film/{{Faceless}}'': After escaping Gordon and locking him in her padded cell, Barbara spits contemptuously in his face (although the spittle is stopped by the glass in the cell door).

* ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'':
** One of Shishio's {{Mooks}} gets captured by the Kyoto ninja, and spits in defiance when questioned. The head ninja's response is to tell his assistants to break out the long nails and candle wax.
** Several chapters earlier, while Aoshi's on his way to Kyoto, he sees four of Shishio's {{mooks}} having a picnic around his deceased henchmen's gravestones. He tells the mooks not to desecrate the graves, in response to which one of them contemptuously spits on one gravestone. [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill Aoshi does not]] [[BerserkButton take it well.]]
* In ''Manga/Reborn2004'' Gamma reveals to Gokudera [[spoiler: that the Tenth Vongola Boss was gunned down in plain view of many of his subordinates]]. Gokudera then dives into a fight with Gamma he definitely won't win. When he loses Gamma tortures him for information and Gokudera responds by spitting in his face.
* ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'': Seiryuu [[LiterallyShatteredLives kills]] Byakko and spits on his severed head [[YouHaveFailedMe for losing to Kuwabara.]]

* Subverted in the ''Manga/GoldenBoy'' anime's first episode. The president of the software compare Kentaro is working for is utterly livid when she finds out he accidentally deleted their latest project just as it was almost finished. Madame President spits at him, but Kentaro, being the giant pervert that he is, catches said spit in his mouth. She then beats the crap out of him.
* ''Anime/CrossAnge'':
** When Hilda reveals that she never actually thought of Chris and Rosalie as friends and was just using them, Chris angrily spits in her face.
** When Jill tries to hold Momoka hostage to force Ange to go along with her plan, Ange spits in her face.
* In the Despair Arc prequel of ''Anime/Danganronpa3TheEndOfHopesPeakHighSchool'', [[VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair Hajime]] is beaten up by Juzo, the head of security. Who takes the time to talk how he sees Hajime and the rest of the Reserve Course as useless, hitting it further by spitting on him.
* In ''Manga/SakuraGari'', Masataka [[spoiler:is brutally tortured and raped by his boss's doctor, Dr. Katsuragi, because the latter has been used as Souma's personal sex toy, and Katsuragi is jealous of him. Later, Katsuragi confesses that he manipulated a young Souma into killing his stepmother, gloating about how he could have Souma to himself (and then proceeding to rape and torture him for years afterward). It's when Katsuragi makes a comment about keeping Masataka as a pet/slave that the latter realizes he's utterly batshit insane, spitting in his face in response]].
* ''Manga/BlackLagoon'': Revy does this at the pool Chaka is drowning in after he had his arm sliced off by Ginji for being a huge jerkass.

** In ''ComicBook/TheKillersOfKrypton'', Harry Hokum has captured ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}, and demands to know why she has come so far from Earth. Supergirl says she will reveal her super secret mission if he comes close enough to hear her whispering... and then she spits right on his eye.
* ''ComicBook/{{Preacher}}:'' Hoover has pranked Herr Starr with the old "Black eye glass" trick, right before he has a meeting with some of the Grail's remaining soldiers. Featherstone is too shocked that he would do that to warn Starr, and she doesn't want him to get killed either. After the meeting, Featherstone tries to apologize to Starr, but without a word, he spits in her face and walks off.

* ''ComicBook/TheTransformersMarvel'': Soundwave would spit at the mention of Autobots during his tenure on the UK comic's letters page.
