At the concert in which he is to play the last song, he chooses to play the song that his mother sang to him as a baby, to show that he refuses to belong to Amduscias. If it's the former, does that still mean he's accepted him subconsciously? [[spoiler: He dies either way]], but it's still an interesting interpretive question.
