* A FictionalDocument in ''Franchise/TheElderScrolls'', "A Game at Dinner", features a report allegedly written by [[TheMole an informant]] spying on Prince Helseth of Morrowind, [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere begging their master to reassign them elsewhere as soon as possible]]. The reason for this request is because, the night before the report was written, Helseth invited his inner circle to a feast after calling for an alchemist known for their exotic poisons to his palace. The informant, who already suspected they were not the sole spy at the table, only pretended to eat and drink, until a tureen of broth was placed on the table. At this point, Helseth acknowledged that he was visited by the alchemist, before revealing that the broth contained the antidote to a lethal, excruciatingly painful poison that he had laced the cups and cutlery with, and declaring that he had not poisoned anyone who was loyal to him and him alone. The informant became increasingly unnerved [[TheParanoiac as they suspected that they had been discovered]], but before they could make a move another advisor reached for the tureen and gulped down the broth. After the traitorous advisor confessed his true allegiance to Helseth's stepsister, Helseth revealed that not only [[HowDidYouKnowIDidnt he had never pegged him as a spy]], [[BaitAndSwitch the broth contained the poison instead of antidote]]. The informant ends the report by commenting that [[YouDoNotWantToKnow their master]] ''[[YouDoNotWantToKnow really]]'' [[YouDoNotWantToKnow doesn't need a description of how agonizing the advisor's death was]], [[TakeOurWordForIt and how much they wish they could forget it]].

* One of Creator/{{Chris Rock}}'s bits on "Bigger And Blacker" accuses essentially the entirety of Western medicine of this, citing the fact that few diseases have been fully cured (as opposed to "patching it up" so that you can live long enough for them to "get more of your money") in recent years.
