* The crest of Valdemar in ''Literature/TheHeraldsOfValdemar'' is a rampant white pegasus trailing broken chains, which one character calls Windrider. Valdemar's best-known feature is its [[OurAngelsAreDifferent uncanny white horses called Companions]]. One in-universe song (since [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB5REAjzWwk made]] into [[FilkSong filk]] by the author) refers to Windrider as a winged Companion. All other Companions just look like beautiful white horses, so whether or not the wings are a metaphor is unknown.
