Armor Piercing Slap is no longer a trope

When it's PervertRevengeMode, compare ArmorPiercingSlap, which this trope is often combined with, or HyperspaceMallet for another option an angry anime girl might try. If they're using a weapon of some sort, they may be a HomeRunHitter instead. Not to be confused with RocketPunch, although it's only a matter of time before the two are combined. May cause a NoseBleed if hit in the face, or if the character is being punched for [[AccidentalPervert seeing his attacker naked]]. If the victim is, in fact, completely and utterly innocent of such things and nothing naughty happened then it's an UnprovokedPervertPayback.

* If there was ever a creature you didn't want to see grown to human size, it would be the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantis_shrimp mantis shrimp]]. Even when they're the size of your hand from wrist to fingertip, '''''do not think they are harmless'''''. These creatures possess a limb ending in a bulb of calcified material that they regularly use to batter their prey to kill and eat it. What makes it befitting of this trope? They are capable of striking at an acceleration of ''10,400 g's'' and a speed of ''23 m/s'' (''51 mph'') and with an impact force of '''''1,500 newtons'''''. Just imagine driving a car that fast, and then put that speed into a club the size of a pebble that you don't even see until they bring it out. Not only can they break the toughened shells of clams, but the poor souls of people who have handled them improperly have ended up with such deep holes gauged into their flesh, that and the pain together made them think they'd been ''shot''. What's more, the mantis shrimp strikes so fast and so hard that it can actually cause the water displaced by its attack to ''boil''. If a human-sized mantis shrimp were to punch you, don't expect there to be much left of you even to bury.

[[folder:Anime and Manga]]
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'': [[TheLadette Kukaku Shiba]], when Ichigo and Ganju [[DisproportionateRetribution broke her pipe]] while fighting. With a bit of PlayingWithFire and GroundPound in it to boot.
* PlayedForLaughs in ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' when Krillin asks Goku to punch him so he can get a sense of how strong he had gotten. After confirming multiple times that [[MyGodYouAreSerious he REALLY wants this]], Goku obliges with a ''[[DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength light punch]]'' that sends Krillin flying through a forest, knocking down multiple trees, through multiple houses, and into a mountain a long ways away.
* ''Anime/DuelMasters'':
** Rekuta. In the American dub, at least, he would be sent flying into the sky when he was so much as clipped by someone's bike.
** Though it would normally follow a cry of "TODOMEDA!" from Shobu.
* ''Anime/FZeroGPLegend'' provides an interesting subversion of this trope: [[spoiler:in a TakingYouWithMe HeroicSacrifice,]] Captain Falcon performs his signature attack, the Falcon Punch, on Black Shadow, [[spoiler:moments before the latter's Dark Reactor overloads,]] causing an explosion comparable in size to ''one-eighth'' of the galaxy. Due to the way the entire scene is framed, however, MemeticMutation often portrays the explosion as being caused by the Falcon Punch by removing all traces of context. [[LampshadeHanging Even the spoiler tags for this example do this.]]
* Subverted in ''LightNovel/FullMetalPanic''. Chidori hits Sagara, then the camera suddenly changes to the sky with a big contrail. This gives the impression that Sagara himself just left the contrail while crossing the atmosphere.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'': Any time Ed or Al says something stupid to [[BadassTeacher Izumi]] they ''will'' be sent flying.
* In ''Manga/FushigiYuugi'', the Nyan Nyan girls (Taiitsukun's assistants) often ended up in the receiving end of these when they seriously screwed up.
* ''[[VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry Higurashi Rei]]'': Happens in the 5th episode where Keiichi gets punched into [[UpToEleven intergalactic space]] by Rena. The following punches to the rest of the cast, while not as extreme, also fit this trope.
* In ''Manga/HunterXHunter'': Greed Island, Bisquit punches Killua this way whenever he makes a reference to her actual age.
%%* ''Anime/TheIdolMaster'': The Futami twins apply a punch on the Producer, calling it by name.
* In ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind'', the BigBad [[spoiler: Diavolo's stand]] King Crimson allows him to finish fights with ''one'' well-aimed punch, which is usually fatal, unlike most heroes and villains using RapidFireFisticuffs. Just ask [[spoiler: Bruno, Abbacchio and Spice Girl]].
* ''Manga/LoveHina'' often used surprisingly-involved animation for these. Its frequent use by Naru Narusegawa means this trope is also sometimes known as the "Naru Punch". Again, didn't happen as often or as dramatically in the manga, but much more frequently than in ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf''.
** In the first episode, Naru somehow manages to deliver the Megaton Punch... ''from the ground-level hot spring, up to the balcony where Keitaro was standing, two floors up, without her feet leaving the ground''. As he flies off, Keitaro [[LampshadeHanging begs to know how she reached that far]].
** In the manga Motoko does a literal HomeRunHitter, so mangaverse Naru's Megaton Punches might be literal as well.
** Then there's the scene where a nerd-disguised Naru punches Keitaro [[PunchedAcrossTheRoom through a corridor]] with him [[PinballGag bouncing off the walls and one doorframe]] (while every bystander just watches and stares without getting bowled over by him) before coming to a smashing halt at a closed door, one of many scenes that earned Keitaro his reputation of being ''[[MadeOfIron immortal]]''.
* In ''Anime/MagicalProjectS'', Ramia frequently does this to her little brother Rumiya to send him to Earth.
* ''Manga/MyBrideIsAMermaid'' has San's "Mermaid Voice", which isn't a literal punch but functions the same way.
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'':
** In the anime version, Sakura does this to Naruto in Shippuuden when he's being particularly perverted. In one omake, she punches him so hard that Kakashi states that [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall she got a new distance record]], which is ''387 meters (nearly 1300 feet)''. {{Justified}} in that she has [[EnhancedPunch chakra-augmented punches]].
** In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', Tsunade can do this with a flick from her finger.
* The "Naru Punch" makes a cameo in Creator/KenAkamatsu's other work ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'', following a ThanksForTheMammary moment during Asuna's practice date with aged-up Negi.
** Asuna also delivers a Megaton Punch to Jack Rakan, knocking him off of a FloatingContinent. He [[NighInvulnerable reappears right behind her, completely unharmed.]] [[RuleOfFunny Somehow.]]
** It turns out that Negi's mother [[spoiler:Princess Arika]] did this a lot to Nagi.
** Anya also did these several times to Negi... until he decided not to let her and reality ensued, showing him to be ''far'' too strong for her to be able to hit him otherwise.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'': Luffy often receives these sorts of blows from his crew in reaction to his stupidity. A reader pointed out that Luffy's rubber body should make such a thing impossible, and WordOfGod claimed the damage was more [[ItRunsOnNonsensoleum emotional than physical]]. Then later on Garp appeared and struck Luffy, claiming a Fist of Love can't be blocked.
* ''Manga/OnePunchMan'': Saitama often pulls these off when he's ''holding back more than ever'' to avoid killing a person. It's either smacking them to the ground so hard they leave their grin imprinted in the concrete, sending them flying into the sky, two with one punch, or simply sending them halfway through town. Again, this is when he holds back a ''lot'': Any less, and SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome in a rain of LudicrousGibs.
* This also happens in ''Anime/PantyAndStockingWithGarterbelt'', in the episode, Catfight Club, when he tells the Anarchy sisters to get along, they reply by just punching him in the face, giving him a nosebleed and resulting in him falling to the ground.
* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'': Even though it is not necessarily a punch (at least most of the time), Team Rocket always ends up flying into orbit by Pikachu's Thunderbolt (Team Rocket's blasting off agaaaaaaaain!...*[[ATwinkleInTheSky ting!]]*), even if the attacks that sent them weren't necessarily that powerful.
* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'':
** Akane Tendo (and most of the other female martial artists) in the anime adaptation. Not so much in the manga, but then the anime tended to exaggerate ''everything''.
** Also, Megaton Kicks are just as common as Megaton Punches. Sometimes the target even has time to muse on the current state of affairs and smooth out their clothing while sailing peacefully through the air.
* ''Anime/SaberMarionetteJ'': Lime and the other marionettes frequently belt their annoying neighbor so hard he [[ATwinkleInTheSky vanishes into the distance.]]
* In ''VideoGame/SengokuBasara'', especially in the Heroes expansion, Takeda Shingen pulls this off and sent Sanada Yukimura flying. ''"OYAKATA-SAMAAAAA!!!!!"''
** In the anime adaptation, he did it again to Fuuma Kotarou, but since the way to the sky was obstructed by a castle, he crashed there, leaving quite a hole. Also later, his Megaton Punch catches [[PlayingWithFire on fire]] and turns Hojo Ujimasa into a [[{{Pun}} twinkle in the ash]].
* ''Manga/SoulEater'':
** [[spoiler:Maka receives one from Black*Star of all people.]] It ''was'' her suggestion, in order to make up after arguing with him, thus making it an inverted example.
** Though it's technically a chop, not a punch, [[GrimReaper Shinigami-sama's]] SHINIGAMI CHOP always leaves a huge bump on someone's head... and a crater in the ground [[LetsGetDangerous when he's serious]]
** Maka herself often dishes these out as well, albeit using a book. "MAKA CHOP!"
* Ran from ''Manga/SuperGals'' does this a number of times to multiple characters when the fights are comical.
* ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'': One episode of ''Tenchi in Tokyo'' featured Amagasaki continually trying to talk to Tenchi and Sakuya, only to be attacked by the spirit of a female wrestler. While the wrestler used a different move every time, the result was always the same shot of Amagasaki flying off into the distant city, even when he was ''inside''.
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'': The Arc-Gurren Lagann's Burst Spinning Punch punches the target so hard they ''hit nothing'', and shatter it, before being sent to the other end of space-time.
%%** When Simon is about to get crushed by two enemy Gunmen in episode two, after a DynamicEntry DivingKick, Kamina proceeds to give the two a punch.
%%---> '''Kamina''': HANDS-OFF-MY-BELOVED-LITTLE-BROTHER-PUUUUUUNCH!!!
* In ''Manga/TonaGura'', both Kazuki Arisaka and Marie Kagura, albeit through use of her paint-ball gun, can knock Yuuji Kagura clean across a room. Very very rarely, he can even become ATwinkleInTheSky. Subverted at least once, when Marie was about to punish GenkiGirl Nina Isokawa. Yuuji effortlessly disarms her, and only gives her weaponry back when he shames his younger sister into attacking only him. FridgeLogic or RuleOfFunny? You decide.

* In ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' [[TheLadette Kukaku Shiba]], when Ichigo and Ganju [[DisproportionateRetribution broke her pipe]] while fighting. With a bit of PlayingWithFire and GroundPound in it to boot.

** Rekuta. In the American dub, at least, he would be sent flying into the sky when he was so much as clipped by someone's bike.
** Though it would normally follow a cry of "TODOMEDA!" from Shobu.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'': Any time Ed or Al says something stupid to [[BadassTeacher Izumi]] they ''will'' be sent flying.
* Subverted in ''Lightnovel/FullMetalPanic''. Chidori hits Sagara, then the camera suddenly changes to the sky with a big contrail. This gives the impression that Sagara himself just left the contrail while crossing the atmosphere.

* Happens in the 5th episode of ''[[VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry Higurashi Rei]]'', where Keiichi gets punched into [[UpToEleven intergalactic space]] by Rena. The following punches to the rest of the cast, while not as extreme, also fit this trope.
