* Invoked but averted in FullmetalAlchemist at Hughes' funeral. When the funeral is over, Mustang comments that it looks like it's going to rain, but the sky is completely clear. Hawkeye wonders at this, noting that the sky looks clear. Mustang insists that it ''does'' rain, with a "raindrop" running down his cheek from his cap-covered eye. There's a few ways this can be interpreted.
** He made the comment to [[MenDontCry try and disguise his tears]].
** Riza told him earlier that he was useless in the rain due to his inability to create a spark and he felt useless after Hughes' death, so he was calling for rain to justify his feeling useless.
** He thought a clear sky wasn't depressing enough.

* Averted in Anime/FullmetalAlchemist at Hughes's funeral. When the funeral is over, Mustang comments that it looks like it's going to rain, but the sky is completely clear. He evidently thought that it wasn't depressing enough, and he felt so useless that it should have been raining.

Weather has always been used symbolically when it comes to death. When characters die it's often overcast. Even when all the characters are doing is visiting someone's grave, the sky will be cloudy and the colors will seem to be washed out. But quite often, when there's an actual funeral, it's always raining (though sometimes [[SnowMeansDeath it'll be snowing]]). Or precisely at sunset. Or at night. Anything but in the bright, shiny daylight.
