It doesn't end well; when Hugette finds out that he's attracted to her, she freaks out and accuses him of having lied to her about being gay (as none of the characters in the book [[NoBisexuals ever think about bisexuality as a possibility]]).

* In Paul Auster's ''Sunset Park'', Miles Heller's old friend Bing Nathan feels like this with Miles. Unsure about his own sexuality he even tries out sex with another guy but comes to the conclusion that the male body provides "no comfort" to him. He pushes Miles in the corner of the StupidSexyFlanders in this citation: "He was not the only one who felt this way. As far back as he can remember, Miles seemed (...) to possess some magnetic, animal force that changed the atmosphere whenever he walked into a room." It's never made clear if Mc Vries was joking, or if the offer was serious and he only walked away because of Garraty's hesitation.

This is often an implicit assumption in some works that pairs characters that are generally portrayed as heterosexual (or homosexual -- and/or related). When it's made explicit, it's usually referred to as "We're Not Gay We Just Love Each Other" (WNGWJLEO) in ficdom, where it's often criticized for its homophobia ([[CaptainObvious and that loving your own gender goes against the very possibility of you being straight.]]) As such, it's now an almost thoroughly DiscreditedTrope in SlashFic.

Kyon is [[EpilepticTrees probably]] a normal human, and Mikuru [[TimeTravel is not]], but as far as Haruhi knows they're both {{muggle}}s; yet she behaves like a {{tsundere}} towards Kyon and a ClingyJealousGirl towards Mikuru.
