* A common occurrence for [[PlayerCharacter Commander Shepard]] (of [[EvenTheGuysWantHim either]] [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer gender]]) in the ''Franchise/MassEffect'' trilogy is that s/he will gain an increasing amount of interest from his/her squad mates or other civilians due to frequently having deep, personal conversations with them. Usually, a character Shepard interacts with will drop hints of interest in the commander to trigger the RomanceSidequest the more you choose to talk with them, but the player may have to let down some of their close friends. If you so choose, you can make Garrus an instigator of this, since his romance track starts with him talking about one of his "conquests", which Shepard can springboard off of to proposition him. He's genuinely caught off-guard by the offer, before regaining composure and essentially stating this trope:
