He also wrote THREE essays detailing how so. Naturally, this pissed people off far more than him considering it a bad film.

I can't tell if this counts or not. If it's seriously He Didn't Pan It Enough, it probably doesn't fit here. At the very least, a trailer upload really has nothing to do with panning anything. The Rifftrax example is full of natter, and it isn't clear from context how many of the films they actually pan. It may still fit, but it's currently a mess. The X-Play bit is also filled with Natter.

Although if a review comes across as excessively snobbish (like bashing a work for things other than its content, and for standards that the reviewers seems to be arbitrarily applying), there might be some grounds to lose respect to the reviewer for that.

Another reason why fans might level hate against a reviewer who pans something is because there are [[FanHaters culture snobs]] out there who harass anyone who's a fan of anything that received less-than-stellar reviews.

* [[ThatGuyWithTheGlasses The Nostalgia Critic]] took a ''lot'' of heat for panning the first ''MortalKombat'' movie (which is considered a GuiltyPleasure by many). There was also some heat recieved for his review of ''[=~Pokémon: The First Movie~=]'', given the fact that he seemed to know little about it, how famous it is and how it is perhaps a greater GuiltyPleasure then MK. There was also ''AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'' (although Doug Walker admitted in the commentary that while he definitely considers ''SonicSatAM'' to be the better of the two ''Sonic'' series, he really exaggerated his disdain for ''Adventures'' and even thinks it looks better as he looks back on it). Then there's ''SpaceJam'', which many people also liked (RogerEbert even gave it 3 and a half stars).

** His review of ''JudgeDredd'' seems to have gone over a lot better though. While still critical he's obviously a lot more affectionate in his review that he has been for awhile. He even calls the movie a [[GuiltyPleasure "guilty pleasure"]] at the end of his review and points out that the movie just runs with every action movie cliche for fun of it. He admits that it ''is'' a bad movie, but a fun one nonetheless.
** Before this his review of ''{{Congo}}'' was far less vitrolic than some of his other material. Combine that with his gushing praise in his ''Siskel and Ebert'' retrospective and it looks like over late 2009/early 2010 Doug took some mental health days by reviewing things that are indeed bad [[GuiltyPleasure but he still enjoys anyway]].

* When ''{{Rifftrax}}'' first started out and picked on the usual low-quality dreck used by ''[[MysteryScienceTheater3000 MST3K]]'', everyone loved it. When the site started to broaden their targets (mainly due to needing to select movies that buyers could easily acquire on DVD), this began to happen on a regular basis. Note that the site doesn't exactly declare any of its targets ''bad'', making the complaints rather whiny.

** That segment was really just the latest and (so far) most pithy in a long line of {{Take That}}s they've given to ''FinalFantasy'' and other [=JRPGs=] in general. They've never hidden their dislike.

****A few years back they answered an e-mail saying they purposely mock anime fans when they review the games because they love getting the hate mail. They also said they loved the Naruto games even though they weren't fans of the anime itself. Note that this was before Naruto was even in America.

** More to the point (besides the obvious truth of troll influx), is that there are few critics on dA who actually give constructive criticism so the artists can improve. However, that said, there is a ''lot'' of ego-driven pride where some artists will dismiss the critique of someone who they think is not as good as them, even if the critique is perfectly valid. Then ''again'', dA mostly revolves around social networking, and anyone who actually has an interest in improving their work will go somewhere else (E.g. conceptart.org)

** His notorious hatred of Pixar (he claims the critical and commercial acclaim Pixar has received is due to capitalist brainwashing and that [[EpicFail it ruins animation]]) culminated in his panning of ''ToyStory 3'', [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotHeinous bringing Toy Story 3's Rotten Tomatoes ranking from a 100% to a 99%]]. His complaints were that [[WallBanger it promoted consumerist culture and product placement, Transformers 2 had explored similar themes with greater "thrill and opulence", that no one could relate to the story, and than anyone who liked it was a simplistic adult-child.]] [[CriticalResearchFailure Oh, and Hamm was a villain.]] The backlash against him (and Cole Smithey who likewise panned the film because [[MoralGuardian it was apparently too intense for a G rating]]) was huge, getting a mention on Time's Newsfeed, and the editorial section of the WSJ.

** Many people are frustrated from the [[Film/PrinceOfPersia Prince of Persia]] review of many popular and well-known film reviewers. The biggest reason being they DidNotDoTheResearch and thus ended up talking ridiculous things, which half of it wasn't even true. While these film reviewers' [[Film/PrinceOfPersia Prince of Persia]] review is considered their most disliked by fans review, RottenTomatoes received the hardest hit for starting and continuing the review by praising it and saying good stuff about it and then coming to the conclusion that it's a bad film [[WallBanger without any explanation whatsoever why]].

* Quite a few years ago. even before the NetworkDecay, G4 network show panned the cult classic ''{{Shenmue}}'', which is often considered one of the best games ever. In fact, they considered it the ''second worst gamer ever'', just below a Zelda CDi game which they didn't do their research on.

** A newer, somewhat different AV Club example; As part of "AV Undercover," for which various bands cover a classic song of their choice, [[http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-smiths,38875/ Coheed and Cambria covered one of the most popular songs on the list]].
