* Animation historian and critic WebVideo/AniMat got some flak for stating that he hates Sony Pictures Animation, as well as their films, such as WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvania, WesternAnimation/CloudyWithAChanceOfMeatballs, and WesternAnimation/CloudyWithAChanceOfMeatballs2. Even going as far as saying that Cloudy 2 is his least favorite animated film of all time, and one of his least favorite films period.

* While WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic previously made it clear he's never cared for the franchise before, he ended up generating some backlash during one of his commercial specials where he dismissed ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' as nothing but a fad (despite the games still selling well two decades later) and was rooting for all the characters to be gruesomely killed. After the backlash from that, he's since had a RunningGag of routinely bringing the series up to bash it in some form, which has gone well [[InternetBackdraft as well as you'd expect for fans of the games or anime]].

* Robert Q. Seidelman of Website/GameShowGarbage inducted "Those Golden Fanbois Who Live Down The Road On The Internet" as a TakeThat towards Golden-Road.net's ''Series/ThePriceIsRight'' fan base. Needless to say, this caused InternetBackdraft not only on Golden-Road.net but other game show sites such as The Game Show Forum. Seidelman had to heavily edit his review to remove personal attacks and references to Encyclopedia Dramatica but the damage had already been done.

* ''The Media Man'' once called ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants'' one of the worst TV shows ever. No, not just [[SeasonalRot Season 6 or any other post movie season]], the ''entire'' show. Fans were not happy.

** Even after going independent, Jim wasn't completely free from overzealous fans. When Jim gave ''VideoGame/NoMansSky'' a 5/10, the amount of hate he gotten from fans of the game was so intense that they resorted to [[DisproportionateRetribution attacking his web site until it crashed]]. This only caused Jim to make a Jimquisiton episode specifically calling out the overzealous fans, mocking them, and tearing them a new one for their behavior.

* CharlieBrooker often does this in reverse by professing fandom of shows his readers [[SnarkBait tend to sneer at]] such as ''Series/{{Friends}}'' and ''Series/LittleBritain''. More conventionally, there was probably some surprise when he panned ''Series/MonkeyDust'' in his ''Screen Burn'' column.

** This was hot on the heels of their ''[[VideoGame/KingdomHearts3D Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance]]'' review, which was given a 4/10 drubbing, with the tone of the review heavily implying that 4/10 was generous, and that TheyJustDidntCare. To be fair, some valid points were made, but others came from the driver's seat of GC's Anti-Kingdom Hearts BiasSteamroller, eg, complaining about the portrayal of ''[[VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou Beat]]'', despite the fact that he acted and sounded no different to how he does in ''VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou'' and came off as extremely melodramatic. (apparently, ''VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou'' has been "ruined forever!" for them, and they want Square Enix to cancel'' The World Ends With You 2'' and make a game where you punch Beat in the face repeatedly instead.) [[AvertedTrope They got away with this]] because most of the regular readers hate Kingdom Hearts as well, and those who defended or praised the game either made themselves look stupid or felt the need to kiss up to GC.

** He gave a mixed review to ''Film/{{Interstellar}}''. Unsurprisingly, several rapid defenders of it wasted no time writing nasty comments to him. And notably he said at the beginning that, while he's not playing anything up when he rants, this ''is'' just a movie he's bitching about and they don't matter in the long run. This was not helped by Doug having clearly missed several points, in particular when he criticises the movie's science by bringing up the MoonLandingHoax, despite this being clearly intended as an in-universe bit of historical revisionism, which none of the main characters believed.
** He starts out his review of ''Film/TheMatrix'' by admitting he doesn't like it. Fair enough, but already setting off a red flag, especially when he calls it "overrated" and "dated". What got people pissed off, however, was the storyline surrounding the review: He, and two like-minded "rebels", are painted as the [[DesignatedHero "heroes"]], and the {{Strawman|Fallacy}} opposition, "Agent Schmuck", explodes after being asked, and failing, to explain a "plot hole"[[note]]"Why is there a Matrix?"[[/note]] that can easily be explained either through the early drafts of the film, watching ''Anime/TheAnimatrix'', or [[FridgeBrilliance just a little thought]], [[BrokenAesop breaking the aesop]] of "you don't have to like what everyone else likes" ''heavily'' in the process by painting his unpopular opinion as the "right" one. Not helping matters was that most of his criticisms were nitpicky, contradictory[[note]]For instance, he criticizes the agents for not catching Trinity ''just after explaining'' that the agents couldn't track down unplugged people like her. Besides, she was on a motorcycle at the time, and the agents couldn't have exactly caught her that way[[/note]], and "ItsBeenDone", forgetting that TropesAreNotBad in the process. Considering all this, he should consider himself lucky that Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses' redesign no longer allows star ratings...

** He got bashed a ''lot'' for not liking ''Film/TheJungleBook2016'', especially when the review opened with him not getting why the movie had such a high rating. Some commenters accused him of falling asleep at certain parts of the movie that clearly explain the things he complains about, such as Shere Khan's motives.
