** ''Every'' Kage is expected to embody this trope. They are known as the strongest in the village, and while not always technically accurate (usually a handful of characters may be slightly more powerful) they always rank up there. They are also fully expected to live and, if neccesary, die for their village, as the Sandaime illustrated.

to:

* [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khalid_ibn_al-Walid Khalid ibn al-Walid]] was given the title the Drawn Sword of God after the first battle he commanded, in which he led 3,000 men against an army of 100,000 that ended in strategic retreat for both sides. In his debut, he managed to break nine swords in battle. If that wasn't enough, he fought in over one hundred battles in his career, which was cut short early when he was dismissed because of his enormous popularity, and he ''never lost a battle he fought in.''

* While we're on Rome, Julius Caesar definitely should be on this list. It's not even worth recounting ever single battle he won, there were so many great ones, but his defeats of Vercingetorix at Alesia, Pompey at Pharsalus, and of Pharnaces II of Pontus (where he said 'veni, vidi, vici!') certainly are amongst his best known. In the former two battles, he was greatly outnumbered, yet still managed to deliver a decisive victory to Rome.
* Flavius Aetius of the Western Roman Empire certainly counts. He gave the Western Empire its last major victory at the Battle of Chalons, defeating, of all people, Attila the Hun. Granted, most of his army was barbarian, and his alliance with the Visigothic king Theodoric was integral to his victory, but damn, you know you're badass when you can force a guy nicknamed "the Scourge of God" to back off. He probably qualifies as an {{Ambadassador}} and a BigGood (for the Romans, at least).

**** The never lost a battle to ''anybody''. Beat every single one of Napoleon's marshals, before taking out Napoleon himself. But he did it with logistics and strategy and tactics, not by being a badass. He only actually fought on the battlefield once, and then he escaped teh French hussars rather than slaughtering them. Great, great general. Not a badass.

* Marshal of Finland Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim rose to General in the Russian Army after fighting the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese War, and distinguished himself in battle as a commanding general on the eastern front of WW1 (one of the few to do so for the Russians). Retired after the Revolution and returned to Finland where he was immediately placed in command of the essentially non-existent White Army at the beginning of the Finnish Civil War. Led said army to victory over the Reds then resigned. Was then elected Regent of Finland while the government debated becoming a Monarchy or a Democracy and was a candidate for King. Then spent the 20's traveling the world and hunting in exotic locales. Then commanded the Finnish Defense Forces through the Winter War and Continuation War, successfully preserving Finnish independence and running up a truly lopsided casualty count (typically over 100:1 against the Soviets). Became President of Finland and led Finland through the third of its wars during WW2 (this one against Germany). So influential on Finnish life that his birthday is Flag Day in Finland and the highest award for valor in Finland is the Mannerheim Cross.
