*** The amusing thing about Rose Potter is that she's an unintentional ''subversion''; given how massively overpowered she is, Rose ought to be able to solve all the Wizarding World's problems in no time flat, but events still unfold pretty much the same way they did in the books. [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2287169/1/End_Program End Program]] and its sequel, [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2825362/1/Illegal_Operation Illegal Operation]] take the same old premise and actually get a better result: While Bass ''does'' get built and ''does'' convince Protoman to leave Wily, he neither disappears from the plot nor causes Protoman to have an unrealistically-sudden HeelFaceTurn. Instead, both become a MagnificentBastard in their own right, cause double the trouble, and have as much rivalry between themselves as with Mega Man. Unfortunately, this saga is still not concluded, but it is off to a good start.

Then, of course, Then he drops tends to drop off the face of the Earth. [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot Arg.]]
** At least this offense is arguably more forgivable than Fixer Sues normally are, because despite their mishandling of the issue, the [[WellIntentionedExtremist authors]] are still [[StrawmanHasAPoint technically right]]: Protoman, while initially hostile, wasn't really a villain, and Bass actually belongs in the niche he occupies in the show. Plus, there are some fics (or at least talkings of fics) that are more than just blatant wish fulfillment.
** [[http://siphersaysstuff.tumblr.com/post/8519989554/joerubyinterview Turns out]] Bass was never going to be in the show (or at least not season three), making his Fixer Stu status much less believable. Plus, production began in 1994, meaning that the writers would've had to have been clairvoyant.

* Any time Bass is featured in a [[Series/MegaMan Ruby-Spears Mega Man]] fic, there's a good chance he'll be one of these; his primary purpose is to make [[TheDragon Proto Man]] leave Wily (for whatever reason the author sees fit) and force the cartoon to be a different-looking Capcom-''Game/MegaMan''. Then, of course, he drops off the face of the Earth. [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot Arg.]]

* Pretty much every OriginalCharacter or AscendedExtra in CoriFalls's ''{{Pokemon}}'' fanfiction exists solely to make sure everyone knows how perfect and special her version of Jessie, James and Meowth are and that Ash Ketchum is stripped of any positive qualities to prove what a CompleteMonster he "really" is.

** On the other side, the entire length of canon couldn't solve RanmaOneHalf's love dodecahedron, but one mediocre fight with a Fixer Sue collapses the whole thing, quickly and neatly. A great number of fics start off with one of the girls in mortal peril from some new enemy, and it is only after he rescues her that Ranma finally realizes how important she really is to him. Then the majority of the story is actually spent tying off all the romantic loose ends.
