* Doomguy from the ''VideoGame/Doom'' series has this as his default expression.

* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'' takes this trope UpToEleven in typical style. ** Goku also sports this look right before he fights Vegeta in the Saiyan saga.
* Whenever somebody gives him the "BecauseDestinySaysSo" speech or the "live to fight another day" speech when he's faced with a difficult opponent, Guts from ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' always gets this look. A very memorable moment was when Guts faced Griffith for the second time in order to [[WinYourFreedom win his freedom]] from the Band of the Hawk.
* The original ''Anime/MazingerZ'' HumongousMecha is famous for being able to adopt this expression at will (remarkable feat in a robot without movile facial features) through subtle (for the 1970's) camera angles.

* In ''Disney/FrozenII'', Elsa wears this expression - furrowed brow, narrowed eyes and lips - while using ice magic on ocean waves. She fails on her first attempt and tries again.

This is a basic way to show a character's determination. In a dangerous situation, rather than head for safety or rush madly into the fray, some will approach the problem with a measure of deliberation. Their expression, if not DissonantSerenity, will be this: brow furrowed, eyes often narrowed, lips tight, body tense. The effect may be enhanced by a KubrickStare. The result is similar to a DeathGlare, but less extreme, and usually not directed at a specific individual.
