* There's [[{{YMMV}} some controversy]] about the benefits of circumcision. On the one hand are claims that it's more hygienic, and... er, feel free to add any other arguments you can think of. On the other, a high percentage of the nerves for sexual pleasure are in the foreskin. Removing it not only removes these nerves (which can't be replaced) but also dries out the glans, causing an extreme desensitization of the nerves that remain. As a result, chafing occurs during sex, chafing that would not have occurred if the man had never been circumcised, and to top it all off, the removal of the foreskin makes it much more difficult for a man to reach orgasm.

** This troper's personal experience with, and a lot of evidence amongst those who have been circumcised is that it's pretty much the exact ''opposite'' of this trope in reality, at least in this day and age in which circumcision itself is coming to be seen as much more barbaric, and as factual evidence about the physically destructive effects that circumcision has on the penis, primarily surrounding issues of sensation and "natural function." Basically, more people are coming to angst about ''being'' circumcised, and this really goes as far as there being ''support groups'' for circumcised men who feel they've been "robbed" or "mutilated" against their will (which is kind of true...)

* Rare British (Islamic) example: on ''EastIsEast'', when George finds out his 9 year old son was never circumcised (it's a big family and he's constantly overlooked) it's decided that he needs to get it done. His older brothers and sister [[SarcasmMode show all the sympathy and understanding that you would expect in the circumstances]]. Contrary to how the trope usually works, he's understandably dead against it himself.

*** Circumcision in general is bizarre in America. There are people in ''medical journals'', who should know better, who argue that the reason sub-Saharan Africa has so much AIDS is because most of the men are uncircumcised, never mind that sub-Saharan Africans invented it, and most sub-Saharan Africans are circumcised. We also know this because men of all developed countries are circumcised. Yes, that's right: Europe, Canada, and Japan. Americans are bizarre.
