* Subverted in ''Film/CastleFreak1995'': Rebecca, being blind, cannot see the [[TitularAntagonist titular]] monster, Giorgio's hideous appearance when they meet face to face, and mistakes him for her mother, prattling on about her feelings to him as he waits on her attentively. Given his sympathetic backstory this could be an opportunity for a [[HeelFaceTurn face turn]], but instead of a rapport built between them Rebecca is rightfully repulsed by Giorgio's true nature, as ugly on the inside as the outside, as he grabs her up and carries her off to his dungeon to [[AttemptedRape rape her]].

* A variation in the ''Series/DoctorWho'' "Last Christmas", in which the Doctor's [[HumansThroughAlienEyes alien face-blindness]] leads to him being unable to perceive that Clara is now a very old woman, and still seeing her as being very beautiful. It turns out to be another DreamWithinADream created by the parasitic Dream Crabs, but he's similarly unable to tell whether she's old or young in real life when they finally wake up (which was a brief gag in a previous episode as well).

* A variation in the ''Series/DoctorWho'' "Last Christmas", in which the Doctor's [[HumansThroughAlienEyes alien face-blindness]] leads to him being unable to perceive that Clara is now a very old woman, and still seeing her as being very beautiful. However, that fact that [[AllJustADream it turns out to be another dream]] [[DreamWeaver caused by the Dream-Crabs]] makes this questionable...

Hulk thinks he's right. [[spoiler:{{Subverted| trope}} when the tramp is actually a disguised Batman, who needs the Hulk to go with the Joker ([[{{it makes sense in context}} long story]]).]]

* [[http://notalwaysromantic.com/the-true-meaning-of-seeing-clearly/18745 This]] [[Website/NotAlwaysRight Not Always Romantic]] post has a blind guy charmed by the "ugly" girl, rather than her vain friends. He even drops the appropriate aesop.

* Something similar happens to Beast in the '90s ''WesternAnimation/XMen'' cartoon. Oddly, Hank thinks Carly is unaware he's a mutant, even though she previously made a joke about his fur. (Though that may be due to her father.) And when her sight is eventually restored (thanks to Beast's help), one of her first comments is how nice she thinks his soft blue fur looks.

* In ''ComicBook/SupermanAndBatmanGenerations III'', one of ComicBook/{{Darkseid}}'s new Parademons gets separated from its unit and encounters a old blind woman who treats it kindly. In return it tells her its story, including the fact that it's part of a new breed designed with the ability to think and reason for themselves. [[spoiler:Subverted when it's revealed that the woman is actually Supergirl, disguised using a Mother Box, and she snaps the Parademon's neck so none of the other heroes learn of their sentience and have qualms about fighting them.]]

* Subverted somewhat in ''Webcomic/UnintentionallyPretentious'' with Mia and Luthor as the blind and the bald. While originally unaware of his BaldOfAwesome, she claims [[http://www.unintentionallypretentious.com/index.asp?c=92 "she likes his candy shell"]].

* Turned on its head in ''Manga/DetectiveConan''; a rich blind woman states her surprise that Conan is a seven-year old, as she had previously believed him to be a teenager whose voice hadn't cracked yet. Of course, Conan really ''is'' a teenager [[FountainOfYouth in a kid's body]], and gets even more tense when the lady whispers to him that "I can see things others can't see".

* Buu of ''Anime/DragonballZ'' meets a blind kid who didn't know his appearance. After realizing he wasn't frightened, Buu figured out the problem and used his magic to heal the boy's eyes. Afterwards the boy was very grateful, and still didn't find anything unusual about Buu's appearance because Buu was the first person he'd ever actually seen, thus he had no basis for comparison. Buu, happy that someone is treating him with kindness rather than fear, doesn't kill the kid, hinting that he isn't as pure evil as everyone assumes he is.

* PlayedWith in ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable [=JoJo's=] Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable]]''. Beautician Aya Tsuji warns [[{{Yandere}} Yukako]] that if she chooses the wrong face in trying to get her original face back, she'll be turned absolutely repulsive, and nobody will ever love her. Koichi says that if Yukako chooses the wrong face, he wants Aya to blind him so that, even if she turns grotesque, he can still be in love with Yukako.

* In [[VisualNovel/MazMThePhantomOfTheOpera The Phantom of the Opera]], the titular Phantom thought that this was going to be the case with [[spoiler:his blind Turkish maid, Melek,]] since she can't see his corpselike deformities and he expected her to be impressed by his talents and achievements. Defied because, [[spoiler:as she was his interpreter for a time, she knew about the instruments of war and torture he created for the sultan]] and she hated him without even knowing what he looked like. The Phantom, being desensitized to his own atrocities, is baffled and enraged by this.
