*** In the anime, yes. But let's not forget that in the manga she was raped since she was born, I seriously doubt she would want any sort of relationship. They never have that closeness in the manga, and the anime creators were notorious for adding romance that didn't exist (Sakyo/Shizuru).

** This troper found Misato and Kaji to be a much more clear example of this trope. Misato definitely becomes a Tsundere whenever Kaji is around, and Kaji even has a couple of Jerkass qualities.(Remember episode 8? He flies off and leaves everyone else to fend for themselves against an Angel.)

One Naruto/Sakura shipper noted that [[spoiler:Naruto rejecting Sakura's confession, which she hoped would persuade him to abandon Sasuke]] was actually good for the ship, as it showed Naruto is willing to stand up to Sakura if need be, making their relationship more balanced.

* In ''{{Misfile}}'', Ash and Emily practically have BST stamped on their foreheads from the minute they appear. In an inversion, they admit their feelings for each other way too early, before either one is really ready. The result is so bad that they retreat into denial, and even when they're ready to try again, they CannotSpitItOut due to fear.
** However, since Ash is [[GenderBender currently a girl]] and both of them are straight (or at least [[TransparentCloset they think they are]]), this complicates matters. Add in [[StalkerWithACrush Missi]], an enforced {{Masquerade}}, and things become even more complicated.
** Averted, since Emily and Ash aren't belligerent and tense at the same times. If there's a relationship that could fit this trope, it'd be [[http://www.misfile.com/index.php?page=876 Emily and ''Missi'']].

** During the Hoenn arc we have May and Drew, who fit the mold so much more perfectly than Ash and Misty.

* The relationship between [[DefrostingIceQueen Temari]] and [[BrilliantButLazy Shikamaru]] from ''{{Naruto}}'' is almost always described as such in {{Fanon}}.

** Further complicated by Inara telling Mal she supported Unification, which was essentially the event which destroyed Mal's faith in God and humanity.
