Battle couples aren't that common, due to restrictions on women in combat. One might expect for the great prevalence of men to mean that gay couples would be overrepresented here, but luckily, that is not the case. In heterosexual pairings, the woman will often not be a conventional soldier, but a partisan of some kind. They tend to be more resistant to breakup than most, given the extra bonds forged in combat, but they are particularly vulnerable to losing one half in battle. If the female half of this couple needs to go in disguise, she is a SweetPollyOliver. If they have gone all the way, expect them to engage in a lot of GladToBeAliveSex. It's also possible they may get it on before the fighting. They may also bicker in the middle of a fight, much to the confusion of their opponents.

*** In Inquisition, it's noted that they're still a couple, but she's out searching for a cure for the Calling, since it's been ten years since her Joining and Grey Wardens are all LivingOnBorrowedTime. He misses her, but understands that she's doing it for both their sakes, and supposes that someone has to rule the kingdom; can't have all your royalty out on a dangerous adventure, now, can you?

* Due to the explosively violent nature of Zanpakutō releases, this isn't a common trope in Manga/Bleach. However, in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc Ichigo Kurosaki and Orihime Inoue face the ascended Yhwach in this manner, with Ichigo attacking while Orihime heals and shields. Also unusual is that the characters in question are not strictly romantically involved (though Orihime is in love with Ichigo and there's a fair bit of ShipTease between the two, which has increased through the arc itself), but they fight together as though they have done so for years.
