->''"Well, I was hoping that our relationship would be a long and happy one, but I suppose I'm willing to settle for short and exciting."''
-->-- '''Odo''', ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'', "Shadows and Symbols"

This is the kind of couple where bullets figure prominently in the story of their romance. Where "war buddy" and "significant other" are synonyms. If you harm either one of them, the [[CrusadingWidower survivor]] ''[[ForegoneConclusion will]]'' [[BerserkButton kill]] [[ItsPersonal you]] [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge as surely as the sun rises]]. Their mere presence increases the chance of a BackToBackBadasses scene to nearly 100%. They may also [[CasualDangerDialog bicker in the middle of a fight]], much to the confusion or consternation of their opponents. They tend to be [[OfficialCouple extremely resistant to breakup]] since their bond [[FireForgedFriends was forged in combat]], so if they're married, they're HappilyMarried. In fantasy settings, they'll probably manifest as SwordAndSorcerer. If they have gone all the way, expect them to engage in a lot of GladToBeAliveSex. It's also possible they may [[PreClimaxClimax get it on before the fighting]]. Add a kid or two for a BadassFamily with a MamaBear and a PapaWolf.

In RealLife, it's also the same as above -- and often, they're officers. There are laws in some areas against this sort of thing if one outranks the other to prevent the superior from [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil forcing the under-ranked into it]].

See AdventureDuo, BashBrothers, SiblingTeam, and FireForgedFriends for other, not necessarily romantic forms of this trope. If they're criminals, they're an OutlawCouple. If they are royalty who do this as one of their jobs, they are also a RulingCouple. If they're villains, they live in UnholyMatrimony. Absolutely no relation whatsoever to [[TabletopGame/{{Battleship}} this classic board game]].

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* Haseo and Atoli in the final volume of ''[[VideoGame/DotHackGUGames .hack//G.U.]]+'', fighting against [[spoiler:Cubia]] together using their Avatars. Ditto for Kuhn and Pi.
* Toru and Julie in ''LightNovel/AbsoluteDuo''. Their school uses a special Duo system in which students are assigned figthing partners. Toru handles the defense with his shield, while Julie handles the offense with her dual blades. They will do anything to protect each other. And did we mention their Duo oath sounds like wedding vows?
* Haru and Kuroyukihime from ''LightNovel/AccelWorld''. In the [=OVAs=], they have developed good battle combos and even ''merge'' together to give Kuroyukihime the [[PowerGivesYouWings ability to fly]].
* ''LightNovel/AllYouNeedIsKill'': In the manga and Light Novel, Keiji Kiriya and Rita Vrataski fight together in the final battle, [[spoiler:and then fight each other]].
* Deunan and Briareos from ''Manga/{{Appleseed}}''. The couple gained attention for their combat prowess, and were recruited into an anti-terrorism unit together.
* Ross Sylibus and Naomi Armitage in ''Anime/ArmitageIII''. They are police and their romance is a plot point.
* Krista and Ymir from ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'' have shades of this, especially during a climatic battle outside the Walls. They launch into battle together, with Krista declaring she won't fear anything as long as Ymir is with her. WordOfGay confirms Ymir's romantic feelings, while Krista's remain [[LesYay slightly]] more [[AmbiguouslyGay ambiguous]].
* ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}'':
** [[PyroManiac Nice]] and [[CowardlyLion Jacuzzi]] are co-leaders of their bootlegging/explosives making gang.
** Eventually, [[spoiler:[[PsychoForHire Claire]] and [[KnifeNut Chane]]]]; he proposed to her while they were fighting a mafia hitman on top of a train.
* Elfin and Preyas from ''Anime/{{Bakugan}}'', complete with BelligerentSexualTension and CannotSpitItOut. They constantly argue about which one of them is Marucho's guardian, as well as other things, but when the time to fight comes, they make a great team. Whatever you do, do not, repeat, '''''NOT''''' attack Elfin, or else Preyas will go AxCrazy on you.
%%* [[SchoolgirlLesbians Meg and Jo]] from ''BakuretsuTenshi''. At least they're supposed to be, since technically speaking Jo does the major part of the job.
* ''Manga/{{Basara}}'' has pirate leader Chacha and her lover and first mate Zaki.
* Guts and Casca in ''{{Manga/Berserk}}'' in the first part of the manga. They share a particularly memorable BackToBackBadasses moment, which is why they are a couple in the first place. [[AmazonChaser Guts even says he prefers a girl who can fight like this, to one that can *only* clean up nicely]]; Casca can do both.
* Due to the explosively violent nature of Zanpakutō releases, this isn't a common trope in Manga/{{Bleach}}. However, towards the end of Thousand-Year Blood War arc [[TheHero Ichigo Kurosaki]] and [[BarrierWarrior Orihime Inoue]] face the [[PhysicalGod ascended Yhwach]] in this manner, with Ichigo attacking while Orihime heals and shields, [[spoiler: and Yhwach has to make quiiiite the effort to disrupt their shared teamwork]]. As for the romance part, Orihime is in love with Ichigo and the ShipTease between the two increased through the arc itself, and despite them not being an OfficialCouple they fight together as if they had done so for years. [[spoiler: The DistantFinale has them HappilyMarried [[BabiesEverAfter with a little son]].]]
* Saya Otonashi and Haji from ''Anime/BloodPlus'' have been fighting chiroptera together for decades, though they [[spoiler: don't admit their feelings for one another until the finale]].
%%* Hibiki/[[spoiler:Flash Beat]] and Kotone/[[spoiler:Wink Beat]] of ''Brave Beats''.
%%* Kazuki and Tokiko from ''Manga/BusouRenkin'', although it does take them until the end of the series to admit it.
* ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'': Sakura and Syaoran Li start out as rivals, but fall in love during the second season. Syaoran decides to stay in Japan so he can help Sakura transform the Clow Cards into Sakura cards. On another note, Meiling would ''like'' to be this with Syaoran and they work well together but she's an [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Unlucky Childhood Friend]].
* Kiri and Elraine in ''Manga/DoubleArts''. They even developed the {{Titl|eDrop}}ular ''Double Arts'' fighting style to fight while constantly connected. They are the official couple of their series and will never let go of each other. [[CantLiveWithoutYou No matter what]]. Elraine is afflicted with a special disease that killed a third of the world's population, and the only reason she isn't dead yet is because of Kiri's mysterious ability.
* Happens eventually in ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', when Gohan as Great Saiya-Man is joined by his girlfriend Videl as Great Saiya-Man 2 (called Great Saiya-Woman in the US). Their relationship is reflected in their InTheNameOfTheMoon speeches.
* ''Anime/EurekaSeven''
** Eureka and Renton's preferred method of fighting is piloting their shared mech while ''{{holding hands}}''.
** Also, Ray and Charles Beams are a more conventional example of this trope than Renton and Eureka. Instead of holding hands, they watch each other's back in a fight.
%%* ''Manga/FairyTail'': Alzack and Bisca but they just CannotSpitItOut. [[spoiler:After the TimeSkip, [[TheyDo they can]].]]
* YaoiGenre example: Dee Laytner and Randy "Ryo" [=Mc=]Lean from ''Manga/{{FAKE}}''. Both of them are highly-skilled policemen from New York, and both can fight very well.
* Saito and Louise from ''LightsiblingNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero'' used to be the page image for SwordAndSorcerer. That alone should tell you about how awesome a Battle Couple they are. Similar to the Negima example, Louise summoned Saito to be a warrior/bodyguard for her in battle.
* ''Manga/{{Freezing}}'' has this as the main premise, with an older female [[ActionGirl Pandora]] and a younger male [[BarrierWarrior supporter]] called a Limiter. One of their abilities, the [[PsychicLink "Ereinbar Set"]], specifically requires that the Pandora and Limiter have a relationship based on deep, mutual trust. It's not so surprising then that, as Violet mentions, many Pandoras end up marrying their Limiters. As per the trope, these couples are particularly vulnerable to losing one half during battle (they fight {{Eldritch Abomination}}s, after all), and the manga does show the psychological and social effects of losing a partner in combat.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** We also have the [[HugeGuyTinyGirl Curtis family]]. [[{{Housewife}} Izumi Curtis]], a powerful and impatient alchemist, and her husband, the [[TheBigGuy seven foot tall]] [[FaceOfAThug Sieg Curtis]]. Together, they run a butcher shop and kick so much ass, you could fill the ocean with it... unless they're [[TastesLikeDiabetes being lovey-dovey]]... and sometimes even then.
* ''Manga/FutureDiary'':
** Yuki and Yuno qualify as this after they finish with the 7th; she's the heavy hitter while he's TheStrategist.
** Ai and Marco (the couple that comprises the 7th) qualify as this as well. That's their gimmick, after all.
%%* Kagura and Kensuke from ''{{Ga-Rei}}''.
* Renais and Soldat J from ''Anime/GaoGaiGar''. They may or may not be "official" but they do [[spoiler:get a power up when they hold hands]] and undeniably work as an amazing team.
* ''Anime/GhostInTheShell'': They would both deny it until the day they die, but the Major and Batou of Public Security Section Nine definitely fall into this trope. Even their [[EveryoneCanSeeIt voice actors]] agree that the series is in part, a romantic story.
* Just about every mecha pilot in ''Anime/{{Godannar}}''. Yes, even the one with [[LesYay two female pilots]] and the one piloted by [[BrotherSisterIncest siblings.]] {{Deconstructed|Trope}}, as the main Battle Couple of Go and Anna has to handle domestic problems coming from [[MayDecemberRomance their big age difference]], and these ''do'' reflect in their performance.
* ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}''
** BadassNormal Pip Bernadotte and FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Seras Victoria. Even more so after [[spoiler:Pip dies and Seras drinks his blood to become a true vampire, absorbing his soul]]. The resulting carnage is both terrifying and epic.
** Alucard and Integra. The scene of them in the middle of the last battle was epic; and then [[spoiler:she shoots the Major while he is fighting Anderson. They are an Official Couple, according to Word Of God]].
* ''Manga/HighschoolOfTheDead'': Saya's parents, Soichiro and Yuriko Takagi, have turned their estate into a veritable fortress and are [[BolivianArmyCliffhanger last seen preparing to face an army of "them"]] together.
* ''LightNovel/HorizonInTheMiddleOfNowhere'': The lesbian witch couple [[SchoolgirlLesbians Margot Knight and Malga Naruze]]. Working together they can take down a [[HumongousMecha God of War]] which is generally considered impossible by anything other than another God of War or a battleship.
* ''Manga/InuYasha'':
** Inuyasha and Kagome have the GuysSmashGirlsShoot dynamic; Kagome often will ride piggyback like an archer on horseback.
** [[BetaCouple Miroku and Sango]], eventually, form a more BackToBackBadasses couple; her demon fighting skill and his holy power is a formidable combination. They effectively subvert the GuysSmashGirlsShoot trope, as both of them have long range (Sango's Hiraikotsu and Miroku's Wind Tunnel) and short range (Sango's sword and Miroku's staff) attacks.
* ''LightNovel/{{Inukami}}'': Youko would ''like'' to be this with Keita, and from the perspective of [[EveryoneCanSeeIt EVERYONE ELSE]] they are. From his perspective she's just his demon busting assistant.
* Kazuma and Ayano from ''LightNovel/KazeNoStigma''. He is a super [[BlowYouAway Wind Contractor]], she is a [[PlayingWithFire literal]] FieryRedhead. They are often paired up for missions.
%%* Narumi and Shirogane of ''KarakuriCircus'' were beginning to lean that way... until [[RuleOfDrama 'circumstances']] got between them.
* ''Manga/KenichiTheMightiestDisciple'' has Kenichi and Miu, who, due to having sparred together for a long period of time, naturally fall into this slot whenever they have to fight side by side.
* Hiroshi and Miwa in ''Anime/KotetsuJeeg'', to a degree: she's more of an AcePilot than an ActionGirl, but she ''is'' the one who must deliver the parts of Jeeg itself as Hiroshi transforms into its head and then puts them all together.
%%* Every Fighter/Sacrifice duo in ''Manga/{{Loveless}}'', to a degree.
* Max and Milia/Miriya from ''Anime/{{Macross}}[=/=]Anime/{{Robotech}}'' are probably one of the earliest examples in anime. Their races were at war. Max is a human, and Milia is a Zentradi, but after she defects, the two end up marrying ''and'' Milia gets a red variable fighter to match her husband's blue one. They even lead different squadrons together for a time span of about 30 years after the events of the original ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''.
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'':
** Nanoha and Fate, but the fact that they're a couple has only been confirmed by WordOfGay from the writer and their voice actresses ([[HoYay/LyricalNanoha not that it wasn't obvious to anyone who watched the show]]). They're even [[HasTwoMommies raising a kid together]].
*** Fate and Nanoha are actually something of an subversion. Being in separate branches of the TSAB and having very different jobs (Nanoha as a Combat Instructor in the Air Force and Fate as an Enforcer in the Dimensional Navy) means that they're rarely in the same place at the same time while on active duty. Nanoha even points during the first battle in ''[[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers StrikerS]]'' that it's been a long time since they've fought side by side.
** [[PuppyLove Erio and Caro]] from ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers''. While other {{ship|ping}}s had fought together, they're the two that are rarely seen in battle without the other. They're also a lot more dependent on each other than the other pairs; Caro powers up Erio and serves as the primary transportation, while Erio handles the actual combat. Finally, they're one of the few couples that's [[OfficialCouple official]], rather than just loads of ShipTease. They also double as a SiblingTeam (both were adopted by Fate, but they didn't meet each other until they were ten).
* ''Manga/MahouSenseiNegima''. Generally speaking, the setting requires something like this because most mages are {{squishy|Wizard}} and need a physical-fighting warrior to protect them. It was invented to be practical more than anything, but Negi says two Pactio partners often end up marrying each other. Because of this, the Pactio system has heavy romantic undertones in magical society, though we are shown several examples of non-romantic Pactios. Character-specific examples of this are:
** Negi and his partner Asuna; he's the mage and she's his athletic and protective fighter. Interestingly for this trope, Negi decided to train as a MagicKnight so he wouldn't have to rely on and put her in danger as much.
** As of chapter 252, TheMedic Konoka and her [[BodyguardCrush bodyguard]] Setsuna [[spoiler:form a Pactio]]. They are a LadyAndKnight pairing instead of the more-or-less platonic Negi and Asuna.
** In the backstory, Negi's parents, Nagi and [[spoiler:Princess Arika]], once went to annihilate an enemy base together.
-->'''Eishun:''' [[LampshadeHanging Is this what you call a night out?!!]]
* Taki Reizen and Klaus von Wolfenstadt of ''Manga/MaidenRose'' are a {{Boys Love|Genre}} example since Taki is a powerful commander in his country's army, Klaus is his also very badass [[LadyAndKnight "personal]] [[BodyguardCrush knight"]], and they kick copious amounts of ass either separately or when they fight together.
* ''Anime/MazingerZ'': [[BelligerentSexualTension Sayaka and Kouji]] and then again, in ''Anime/{{Mazinkaiser}}'' and ''Anime/ShinMazinger''. This trope was invoked by TheProfessor Dr. Kabuto, who created Minerva-X to be Mazinger-Z's Battle Couple because he thought all great heroes fight alongside strong and beautiful {{Action Girl}}s. The flaw in his logic that Kouji and Sayaka's BelligerentSexualTension often ''hindered'' their effectiveness on the battlefield, specially when [[AchillesInHisTent one got so mad at the other that they refused to help them out.]]
%%** Tetsuya Tsurugi and Jun Honou from ''Anime/GreatMazinger''.
%%** Duke and Hikaru, and [[spoiler:Kouji and Sayaka]] from ''Anime/UFORoboGrendizer''.
%%* Naoe and Kagetora from ''LightNovel/MirageOfBlaze''.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'': [[spoiler:Allelujah Haptism and Soma Peries/Marie Parfacy]], after [[spoiler:Marie returns to action in the GN Archer, which combines with Allelujah's Arios Gundam to form the Arios Archer. In TheMovie, they co-pilot Gundam Harute]].
* ''Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam'': Renda de Baroma and Duker Iku are an {{anti villain}}ous example. Both are skilled pilots and rather fearsome in the battlefield, not to mention pretty high-ranked members of the Zanscare Empire, and they hope to settle down in peace when the war's over. And to finish the war, they'll fight our heroes. [[spoiler: After they both kick it in battle, [[TogetherInDeath their souls are seen]] riding together in a Harley-like motorcycle to the afterlife.]]
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''
** [[FourStarBadass Minato Namikaze]] and [[ActionMom Kushina Uzumaki]] were assumed to be this, which is proved when they come up with an awesome and heartbreaking ThanatosGambit to seal the Kyuubi inside Naruto at the cost of their lives, so they can save Naruto's life ''and'' their village.
** [[TheHero Naruto]] himself becomes this with [[LadyOfWar Hinata]] in ''Anime/TheLastNarutoTheMovie''. Naruto's own chakra has no effect on [[BigBad Toneri]] and the only way to cause harm comes from the specific chakra [[BadassPrincess Hinata]] has. However, Hinata's own chakra levels are not strong enough to stop Toneri on her own. So by [[HoldingHands holding each other's hands]], they share and combine their unique chakras to defeat the villain and destroy Toneri's {{Weapon of Mass Destruction}} by combining Naruto's Rasengan with Hinata's Twin Lion Fists.
** Post-series, Sasuke becomes this with Sakura. When [[spoiler:their daughter Sarada]] is threatened, they both spring into action. Messing with two-thirds of the Second Coming of the Legendary Sannin was a bad idea on Shin's part...
** The first Hokage (Hashirama) and his wife (Mitou) are implied to be this, considering that she was [[spoiler: the original jinchuriki of the Kyuubi and Kushina's OldMaster]].
** Umino Iruka's parents are mentioned to have been this, though they died when Kurama was unleashed.
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' Shinji and [[{{Tsundere}} Asuka]] at their best. The episode "Both of You, Dance Like You Want to Win" sees them undergo syncronization training so they can fight like this against a double angel. It involves a great deal of personal bonding in addition to combat training. It is reinforced in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'', where they are given combination attacks when they show up: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih7y57v58yA as seen]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLKzzUjPOYw right here.]]
* [[YuriGenre Girls Love]] (sorta) example: ''Anime/{{Noir}}'', with Kirika and Mireille. [[spoiler: [[PsychoLesbian Chloe]] ''wanted'' to have Kirika as her partner and it ''almost'' works, but then she attacked Mireille...]]
* [[http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Oscar_and_Andi Oscar and Andi]] from the ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' anime are a spoof of the trope. They ''are'' efficient as a team-up (and the same goes to their Nidoqueen and Nidoking), but they also are huge [[ShipperOnDeck Shippers On Deck]] who claim to be able to spot couples in love a mile away and thus try to hitch Ash with May and Jessie with James.
%%* Kei and Hayato in ''Manga/ProjectARMS''.
* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf''. You'd ''think'' [[OfficialCouple Ranma and Akane]] would be one of these but that is often not the case. For starters, Akane's typically a bystander in any battles Ranma gets involved in -- if she isn't back at home while Ranma's out in the middle of nowhere beating on whoever's ticked him off, she's sitting on the sidelines and watching while he does all the fighting... or is [[DamselInDistress hypnotized, kidnapped, tied up, or turned into a doll]] and otherwise incapable of joining in. When Akane does join in the fight against an opponent, assuming she and Ranma fight the same foe, Akane and Ranma tend to get in each other's way more than anything (or, at least, Akane herself is overwhelmed and Ranma has to pull her fat out of the fire). [[{{Tsundere}} Akane]], you see, [[DontYouDarePityMe resents]] the way Ranma assumes "[[OvershadowedByAwesome I'm the greater martial artist]], [[DeclarationOfProtection so I gotta protect Akane]]", which typically leaves them wide open to the exploits of their enemies. The one exception in the series, the one time they really pulled the Battle Couple deal off, was during their face-off against the {{Orochi}}. There's a reason why [[PortmanteauCoupleName Rakane]] {{shipp|ing}}ers in particular like to see that story as a CrowningMomentOfAwesome and CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming. Ranma also fights alongside his other fiancees, Shampoo and Ukyo, several times throughout the series.
%%* Let and Julia in ''Manga/RaveMaster''.
* Tsukune Aono and Moka Akashiya from ''Manga/RosarioToVampire'' are gradually developing into one of these, as Tsukune starts to develop the powers necessary to fight at or near her level. Fong Fong's parents are one as well, and in a recent chapter [[spoiler:Yukari and Fong Fong himself]] are hinted at becoming one (they haven't officially gotten together, but it's pretty strongly hinted[[note]]The epilogue even ''more'' strongly hints that they will get together in the future.[[/note]] and they've got the teamwork down pat).
** Tsukune and Moka have been deified for it.
* ''Franchise/SailorMoon'': One would think Sailor Moon herself and Tuxedo Kamen would be this, being the main characters, but this trope instead goes to [[SchoolgirlLesbians Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune]], who arrive together and usually attack in tandem. The former couple ''do'' fight as a unit once in a while, and in fact the ''S'' anime has their strong bond alloew them to give her a MidSeasonUpgrade, but Tuxedo Kamen [[DistressedDude isn't up to part with]] [[ActionGirl Sailor Moon]] as much.
* ''LightNovel/ShakuganNoShana''
** Yuuji and Shana develop into this over the course of two seasons, as Yuuji finds ways to make himself useful in battle. The first of which is to supply Shana with [[{{mana}} power of existence]] to boost her fighting power. [[spoiler:Then there's [[WhamEpisode "Snake Of The Festival"]], and [[TheReveal even then, he is the]] BigGood]].
** The incestuous Aizel siblings have a similar dynamic; "Love for himself" Sorath does the LeeroyJenkins style attacking while "Love for others" Tiriel pulls power of existence from another location to heal him.
* ''Manga/SoulEater'': This trope is a common fandom interpretation of the meister-[[EquippableAlly weapon]] partnerships. Shipping aside, canon does ''nothing'' to dissuade this [[YaoiGenre whatever your]] [[SchoolGirlLesbians pairing preferences]] in most cases. The only truly canon pairing of this nature is Maka's parents; her father was her mother's Weapon. As of the end of the series [[spoiler: Marie being pregnant with Stein's child would suggest they are the second canon example]].
** Though this interpretation raises some questions about Kid and his weapons Liz and Patty. Battle Threesome, maybe?
* Kirito and Asuna become one in the first arc of ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline''. Specially impressive in the anime, where seeing them fighting together, coordinating their attacks, is truly spectacular. Although it gets played down in the later arcs, as most of the stories usually keep them apart (most of the times, focusing on Kirito, although Asuna gets to be focus instead in the "''Mother's Rosario''" arc). However, whenever they ''do'' battle together, expect much pure, unadulterated awesomeness.
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'':
** Kamina and Youko; she watches and protects his back while he takes the front [[spoiler:for one battle]].
** Simon and Nia [[spoiler:are co-pilots in Gurren Lagann's final form in the climax]].
** Leite, who does all the maintenance (being in the direct war zone) while hers truly, Makken, is in the battlefield.
* ''Manga/TenyoriMoHoshiYoriMo'' has a more subdued example in [[spoiler:Mio and Shou]], who use their powers in tandem in the GrandFinale but focus less on fighting evil and more in [[spoiler:protecting the city of Kamakura from being consumed by fire, an earthquake, and ultimately a ''tsunami''. They succeed, but then they go the TogetherInDeath way]].
%%* GirlsLove example: Meg and Angela from ''TetragrammatonLabyrinth''.
* Almost all the series that form the ''Anime/TimeBokan'' franchise, save for ''Ippatsuman'' and ''Yattodetaman'', feature a battle couple as the leads. The better known ones are Tanpei and Junko from the original series, and Gan "Gan-chan" Takada and Ai "Ai-chan" Kaminari from ''Anime/{{Yatterman}}''.
%%* Mega and Giga in ''Anime/TransformersSuperGodMasterforce''.
* Now that they have been indirectly confirmed, ''Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle'''s [[HoYay Kurogane and Fai]]. They always fight together even at the start of the story and have a knowledge of the other's fighting style that is astonishing. Even with their problems during the Infinity Arc they're still back-to-back.
* ''Manga/TwinStarExorcists'' is the title given to a married exorcist couple whose child will be The Miko, in this case Rokuro and Benio. While the two are more than a little bit against the couple idea, there's no denying that together they make an awesome team.
* Together, Larva and Miyu from ''Manga/VampirePrincessMiyu'' hunt down the demonic Shinma. It began with him merely acting as her BattleButler after she defeated him, but he came to understand her plight and [[BodyguardCrush developed feelings for her over time]]; in turn, [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend she's FIERCELY protective of him]].
%%** Eventually, [[spoiler:Yui and Nagi from SpinOff manga ''Vampire Yui''.]]
* The few times Sunako and Kyouhei from ''Manga/TheWallflower'' fight side by side major ass is being kicked.
* ''Anime/WickedCity'': The demon woman Makie and the BadassNormal Renzaburo evolve into this [[spoiler:as planned by the old man whom they were tasked to protect]].

* Snake-Eyes and Scarlett from Creator/LarryHama's run on the Marvel ''[[ComicBook/GIJoeARealAmericanHeroMarvel G.I. Joe]]'' comic. Like the description said, these two mix 'lover' and 'war buddy'.
* In the Franchise/MarvelUniverse, you're more likely to find this in the Comicbook/XMen and Comicbook/TheAvengers than not. Superheroes have got to stick together, right?
** Tempest and Blackwing from the ''ComicBook/NewWarriors''. After going out to fight crime together, they come home to take care of their kids. New Warriors also had Nova and Namorita, Firestar and Justice, and Night Thrasher and Silhouette.
** In Creator/GarthEnnis's run on ''Comicbook/ThePunisherMAX'', the title character had this with O'Brien in the "Man of Stone" arc.
** Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman of the Comicbook/FantasticFour. They're married.
** ComicBook/{{Hawkeye}} and ComicBook/{{Mockingbird}}. Both are BadassNormal heroes, with him as the world's greatest marksman and her an incredibly skilled martial artist.
** ComicBook/YoungAvengers has super-strong alien shapeshifter Hulkling and his mutant sorcerer boyfriend, Wiccan. They're an incredibly powerful pair, and fiercely protective of each other.
%%** Comicbook/{{Runaways}} had Alex and Nico, Gert and Chase, Karolina and Xavin, Victor and Nico.
** [[Comicbook/IncredibleHulk Hulk]] and [[AmazonianBeauty Caiera]] in the ''Comicbook/PlanetHulk'' storyline. [[spoiler:It didn't take them long to [[DroppedABridgeOnHim drop a bridge on her.]]]] Now it's Hulk and Red She-Hulk (aka [[spoiler:ComicBook/BettyRoss]]), also an AmazonianBeauty.
** Captain America ([[Comicbook/BuckyBarnes James "Bucky" Barnes]]) and Comicbook/BlackWidow. They're both legendary super-spies in their own right, and an incredibly dangerous team when fighting together.
** The original Cap ([[Comicbook/CaptainAmerica Steve Rogers]]) had it too with [[Comicbook/{{Agent13}} Sharon Carter]] and Diamondback. He's ''the'' SuperSoldier, and they're both skilled fighters involved in espionage.
** [[ComicBook/TheMightyThor Thor]] and Sif, both Norse warrior gods. This comes in handy when [[spoiler:Thor is time-sharing Don Blake's body, and is not up to fighting giant robots because he's busy trying to fish Mjolnir-in-stick-form out of the gutter where he accidentally dropped it]].
** ComicBook/{{Luke Cage|HeroForHire}} and ComicBook/JessicaJones. They're (New) Avengers and have a child!
** ''[[Comicbook/XMen X-Books]]'' have numerous examples.
*** ComicBook/{{Cyclops}} and [[ComicBook/JeanGrey Phoenix]], combining his optic blasts with her potent psychic abilities. Many stories featured them charging into battle together, hand-in-hand, and blasting their way through opponents.
*** Cyclops and ComicBook/EmmaFrost became this, after the death of Phoenix. They tend to lead from the front line together, though not nearly as effective a team as the above couple were.
*** ComicBook/{{Rogue}} and ComicBook/{{Gambit}} have had a long, rocky history of on-again-off-again dating. They're both powerful fighters in their own right, and work well together in battle.
*** [[ComicBook/KittyPryde Shadowcat]] and Colossus have gone through multiple breakups and reunions, and have unique teamwork taking advantage of their powers. On occasion, he's been known to throw her at opponents to great effect. The Age of Apocalypse [=AU=] took this up a notch, making them a married couple that terrified quite a few people with their ruthlessness in battle.
*** Rictor and Shatterstar went from being long-time ambiguous friends, to an official couple when reunited. One has [[DishingOutDirt earthquake]] powers, while the other is a genetically engineered SuperSoldier.
*** Havok and Polaris are another classic of the series, and are both powerhouses in their own right. They've led multiple teams together, and gone through many rough periods in their rocky relationship.
** On the villains side Titania and Absorbing Man were this for a while. They got married. ComicBook/TheHood and Madame Masque were another example. Recently ''ComicBook/{{Infinity}}'' event introduced yet another married villain couple - Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight, notable in that they manage to defeat the Hulk when fighting in tandem, as well as held their own against Captain America, Hyperion, and Captain Marvel.
* ''ComicBook/TheAuthority'' Apollo and Midnighter, a rare male/male example. That they're unstoppable warriors somehow makes it all the more adorable when they drop the badassery for a cuddle. Also, should you mess with one, expect the last thing you ever see to be the other one [[MadeOfPlasticine dismembering you]].
* Although Creator/{{DC|Comics}} prefers non-costumed spouses/significant others, there are a few qualifiers:
** The original incarnations of ComicBook/{{Hawkman}} and Hawkgirl.
** Villain example: Cannon and Sabre were assassins working for opposing gangs who decided to kill each other's bosses and merge the two organisations into one with themselves on top. When that panned out, they bought a beach house together and went freelance.
** The ComicBook/NewGods Mr. Miracle and Big Barda, a married couple that hail from the brutal homeworld of OmnicidalManiac ComicBook/{{Darkseid}}. He's a genius escape artist, and she's a former [[AmazonBrigade Fury]].

** ''Comicbook/{{Supergirl}}'''s foster parents Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers (who show up in ''Comicbook/SupergirlRebirth''). They are a couple of Government agents trained to deal with and neutralize alien threats.
** ComicBook/{{Nightwing}} is popular among action girls.
*** Nightwing and ComicBook/{{Starfire}}, ComicBook/TeenTitans teammates.
*** Nightwing and Oracle are a MissionControl style pair because Oracle isn't usually in the field but still fights her battles behind-the scenes. There was also that tension between him as Robin and her as Batgirl...
*** There was Nightwing and ComicBook/{{Huntress}}, though they were more of the FriendsWithBenefits variety.
** [[ControlFreak Tim Drake]] as [[Comicbook/RobinSeries Robin]] and [[PluckyGirl Stephanie Brown]] as [[Comicbook/Batgirl2009 Spoiler]], before they broke up.
** [[DatingCatwoman Batman and Catwoman]] count if they're written by Jeff Loeb, Paul Dini, or Ed Brubaker. For that matter, they're married in Earth 2 with a daughter, [[ComicBook/{{Huntress}} Helena Wayne]]. In 'JLA: The Nail'', [[HeelFaceTurn she becomes Batwoman]] after [[spoiler:the Joker killed Robin and Batgirl]].
** ComicBook/{{Aquaman}} and his wife Mera have been portrayed as an undeniable battle couple following his return at the end of ''Blackest Night''.
** Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Star Sapphire (Carol Ferris) after Star Sapphire was retooled. Both of them wear a [[ImaginationBasedSuperpower lantern ring]].
** General Zod and his wife, Colonel Ursa form a villainous example Post-Crisis. So do Zod and Faora in the New 52.
** If they're together, ComicBook/{{Deadshot}} and ComicBook/HarleyQuinn will often fight alongside each other.
* The ''Comicbook/SonicTheHedgehog'' comics. They're all freedom fighters or guardians.
** Knuckles the Echidna and Julie-Su. Knuckles has SuperStrength, while Julie-Su's an expert with firearms (and also not too shabby herself at hand-to-hand combat).
** Sonic and Sally; the cartoon adaption's opening theme shows them blowing up a Robotknik base together. She's in his arms by the end of it.
** Bunnie and Antoine are a husband and wife team; one is a badass cyborg and the other a master swordsman.
%%** Bunnie and Antoine.
* ''[[Comicbook/TeenTitans New Teen Titans]]'': Adeline and Slade (Comicbook/{{Deathstroke}}) Wilson, till his double life got their son kidnapped and rendered mute, then she shot out his eye (she was trying to kill him, but enhanced reflexes saved his life, if not his eye).
* At the end of ''Comicbook/{{Watchmen}}'' Silk Spectre II and Nite Owl II have married, and from their conversation it's clear they plan to work together as illegal masked vigilantes.
%%* Comicbook/SgtRock and Mademoiselle Marie. One story hints that Rock was the father of her son.
* ''Ball and Chain'' features Edgar and Mallory Bulson, alias Thunderball and Chain Lightning. Their powers are dependent upon their physical contact and proximity, which is inconvenient since their relationship was over when they got them. Still, they get it together in the end - because they'll always be there for each other.
* ''ComicBook/SinCity'' has Dwight and Gail.
--> "She's my valkyrie. My warrior woman. The fire. It'll burn us both."
%%* Felony and Zone in ''Special Forces''
%%* CaptainAtom and Plastique
* ComicBook/ScottPilgrim and Ramona Flowers; their relationship is the basis of the all the fights with the evil ex boyfriends.

* ComicBook/{{Zatanna}} and [[ComicBook/{{Hellblazer}} John Constantine]]. Though both are worlds (or versions) apart, both make up for a Badass Magical Couple. [[spoiler:Then John Constantine is put back into the DC Universe and the two get back on their relationship.]]
* ComicBook/DungeonTheEarlyYears: Hyacinthe and Alexandra, although Alexandra is his mistress, became this when Hyacinthe lost his innocent vigilantism persona and became the head of the city's underground with Alexandra as her best assassin. Hyacinthe's first kill was a target Alexandra was struggling with.

* [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10223400/1/To-Love-DEATH To-Love-Death]] has Rito and Yui fighting to survive against a zombie invasion. In its sequel, [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11591414/1/To-Love-CARNAGE To-Love-Carnage]] they get even.
* ''Fanfic/ACrownOfStars'': Shinji y Asuka. Their numerous battles together in the past are mentioned. Moreover, Asuka's new HumongousMecha is a two-seater, allowing Shinji and Asuka sitting together in the cockpit.
-->''He smiled at her in the comm window. "You said it, Asuka. You finally said it."\\
She blinked at him. "Said what?"\\
"'I love you.'"\\
Asuka stared blankly at him for a second before it sank in. Her eyes widened. "Well… scheiße…" she said eventually. "So much for talking about it tonight in more romantic surroundings. When I said 'right before a battle isn't exactly how or where I want to talk about this', I did mean it."\\
Shinji's smile got bigger. "Somehow, right before a battle for our lives seems fitting for us."''
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'': [[TheHero Shinji]] and [[{{Tsundere}} Asuka]], natch. And given the nature of Evas, they're not merely more competent as a result, but more powerful as well.
* ''Fanfic/TheChildOfLove'': It took a good while for them to open up to each other, but Shinji and Asuka got together and kept fighting giant monsters together. In chapter 3 it is not until Asuka rushes in the battlefield that the team gains the upper hand. In chapter 7 she does not fight directly due to her pregnancy, but she provides tactical support. After giving birth she and Shinji fight in tandem.
* ''Fanfic/ChildrenOfAnElderGod'': Shinji and Asuka got together during the story. They fight {{Eldritch Abomination}}s of the Franchise/CthulhuMythos using their super robots... or power stolen from other eldritch abominations they killed previously.
* ''Fanfic/DoingItRightThisTime'': After returning to the past Shinji, Asuka and Rei agreed to share each other. Whenever any of them are fighting together they are acting as a battle couple. In their first engagements, Shinji and Rei took Shamshel down and Asuka and Rei blew Ramiel to smithereens.
* ''Manga/{{Evangelion 303}}'':
** Shinji and Asuka (reinforced since their [[spoiler:engagement]]). Misato even commented that both are hyper-aggressive.
** Kaworu and Saburo when they were dating.
* ''Fanfic/GhostsOfEvangelion'': Shinji and Asuka are one during the War. Thirty years after the conflict their experience fighting together still helps them beat games together.
* ''Fanfic/{{HERZ}}'': Shinji and Asuka, although due to Unit 02 getting repaired they are not seen battling in tandem until [[spoiler:the FinalBattle when they sortie together to fight the SEELE forces]].
* ''Fanfic/HigherLearning'': As their relationship strengthens throughout the story, Shinji and Asuka become an efficient fighting duo.
* ''Fanfic/LastChildOfKrypton'': Shinji and Asuka. He is ''Franchise/{{Superman}}''. She is [[spoiler:''Franchise/WonderWoman'']]. And their enemies are ''screwed''.
* ''[[Fanfic/LegacySeries Legacy]]'': Thea and Roy become one of these in this {{Series/Arrow}} NextGenFic . When they suited up as the Arrow and Canary 2.0, witnesses said watching them fight was "like watching the principal dancers of the Moscow ballet."
* ''Fanfic/OnceMoreWithFeeling'': Asuka and Shinji started on the path to becoming one as of battling the Sixth and Seventh Angel. They fought together and performed spectacularly.
-->Not that Shinji could begrudge Asuka her grand entrance. Perhaps she hadn't exactly covered herself in glory today… but by the same token; he couldn't have done it without her. Not for the first time, he smiled slightly at that thought, working side by side with her again; Asuka the burning sword, Asuka the raging, unquenchable firestorm-
* ''Fanfic/TheOneILoveIs'': Shinji and Asuka. Due to living, working and fighting together, they started to like each other and became extremely close. This closeness kicks the plot off when Rei realizes Shinji is falling for Asuka and decides to pursue him actively.
* ''Fanfic/ScarTissue'': Shinji and Asuka. During the Angel War they battled giant alien monsters together despite of their fights and arguments. In chapter 17 Asuka's HumongousMecha is modified so that Shinji and she can pilot in tandem and fight together. Shinji also tells her he will not leave her to fight alone again.
* ''Fanfic/TheSecondTry'': Shinji and Asuka, even more than in the original series now that they are serious about fighting, have gotten over their crippling psychological and emotional problems, and want to support and help each other. It even is noted by [[spoiler:Kaworu]].
** In the [[spoiler:second-to-last]] episode:
-->'''Asuka (to Shinji):''' I'll handle them. These guys aren't the real problem after all. Just take care of my cable, okay?\\
'''Shinji (smiling weakly and nodding):''' Of course.
** And later in the same episode:
-->[[spoiler:'''General:''']] Concentrate all fire on that power cable!\\
[[spoiler:'''Comm-Officer''':]] It's no use, Sir! Purple's guarding it!
* ''Fanfic/SOE2LoneHeirOfKrypton'': Shinji and Asuka till [[spoiler:Asuka got taken out of the roster of active pilots]]. Until that moment they had fought many battles together against {{Eldritch Abomination}}s.
* ''Fanfic/ThousandShinji'': [[AntiHero Shinji]] and [[TheBerserker Asuka]] began to strongly bond when Shinji told Asuka that they should fight together to destroy their enemies. From that point they became partners-in-battle and shortly after they got together. The results were bloody for their enemies.

* ''FanFic/TheImmortalGame'': Twilight's parents Starlight and Midnight. Also, as shown in flashbacks, her ancestor Astor Coruscare and her lover Valiant. ItRunsInTheFamily.
* The ''FanFic/MyHostageNotYours'' series has Zim and Gaz, seeing as they're the primary couple and both badasses.
%%** By the end of the third story, [[BetaCouple Dib and Tak]] also achieve this status.
%%* Joachim Hoch and Hanala Jarva vas Devoas from the {{Fanfic/Uplifted}} series. John Shepard and Tali Zorah as well. Ironically, it is Hoch (a disenchanted SS Officer) who tends to be the more restrained one.
%%* Rourke O'Donnell and Terrany [=McCloud=] of ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3780019/4/Starfox-Sunrise-Over-Lylat Sunrise Over Lylat]]'' qualify as this. Terrany's deceased grandparents Fox and Krystal also qualify.
* ''[[FanFic/FriendshipIsMagicTheAdventuresOfSpike Friendship is Magic: The Adventures of Spike]]'': Soarin' and Spitfire are one, as shown during the changeling invasion.
* ''Fanfic/FateStayNightUltimateMaster'': Ben and Avenger, while not romantically involved, fit this trope in every other aspect: they are of opposite gender, they both kick ass of their own pretty well (to illustrate: Ben is an [[AlienTropes Alien]] [[VoluntaryShapeshifting Shapeshifter]] SuperHero, Avenger is a magically summoned and enhanced JeanneDArchetype), and they are both ''very'' protective of each other. Also, they ''do'' get some ShipTease.
%%* Heavy and Medic in Fanfic/RespawnOfTheDead ([[FanPreferredCouple and most other]] [[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 TF2]] fanfiction besides).
* The ''Fanfic/PonyPOVSeries'' has the [[BadFuture Dark World versions of]] [[GeniusBruiser Spike]] and [[WarriorTherapist Rarity]], once Rarity finally returns his affections and they become an OfficialCouple. (One of the few good things to come out of Discord's reign was Spike reaching his adult age in Rarity's lifetime.)
** Cadance and Shining Armor are naturally this trope, as in canon.
** Gag and Garnet have their moments, but since they're in a unit, it isn't as noticeable as other examples.
** During the FinalBattle of the Age of Myths (G1), Katrina and Rep (now HappilyMarried) are one of these when GondorCallsForAid. [[spoiler:They kill Ashley, one of Hydia's dangerous family, by [[DisneyVillainDeath sending her falling to her death]] with a FastBallSpecial.]]
%%* FanFic/AGrowingAffection has Naruto and Hinata as one for books 2 thru 4. There are other combat capable duos in the story, but most of them don't get enough screen time to qualify.
%%* Sean O'Callahan and Maria Aparicio in ''FanFic/PowerRangersGPX''.
* ''Fanfic/SomeSemblanceOfMeaning'': Near the end of the 44th [[Literature/TheHungerGames Hunger Games]], [[spoiler:Vale and Obsidian]] become one of these. Although the latter doesn't want the former to be put in harm's way, she does manage to save his life at least once.
* ''Fanfic/CrossoverChaos'' has quite a few examples. Killer and Beetle become this after they get paired up in v1, as well as Kyle and Lindsay once they join C.H.A.O.S early in Agents of C.H.A.O.S.
* Khan and his lover, Victoria, are this in the ''Film/StarTrek'' fanfic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9694363/1/Safe-and-Sound Safe and Sound]]''. During the Eugenics Wars they apparently marched into the Taj Mahal, and after the ensuing battle (during which Victoria killed thirty armed guards with her bare hands while saving Khan from them; it's not mentioned how many Khan killed) they marched back out again having claimed the building as theirs.
* ''Fanfic/LifeAfterHayate'' explains that this is a family tradition with the Harlaowns, to the point you are not considered acceptable dating material unless you've partnered with your desired date in combat. It's not ''necessary'' to fight directly alongside them, but close dependency in a combat situation is absolutely non-negotiable: Amy Linetta was allowed to date Chrono because she had been his "[[MissionControl angel on the shoulder]]" as ''Arthra'''s combat controller. Lindy and Clyde supposedly met on the bridge of a warship in action; Chrono's grandmother and grandfather met when their units were assigned to the same battle. Chrono expresses relief that Fate is interested in Nanoha because she already meets the standard.
* Whenever Vinyl Scratch and Octavia get into a fight in FanFic/TheVinylAndOctaviaSeries, you can bet that they'll be fighting side-by-side.
* ''FanFic/CrownsOfTheKingdom'':
** Donald and Daisy combine this trope with DanceBattler in the jungle concert scene.
** Cinderella and Prince Charming do this as well, teaming up to rescue the Disney Princes.
* In chapter seven of ''Fanfic/BaitAndSwitchSTO'' a pair of junior officers from the USS ''Bajor's'' security department, Lieutenant (JG) K'lak and Ensign Kate [=McMillan=], go on an away mission with Eleya and act as a sniper and TargetSpotter respectively. In the next chapter Eleya catches them meeting up in Ten Forward, and [=McMillan=] gives K'lak "a peck on the cheek that looks a lot more than just friendly." Eleya alludes to moving [=McMillan=] to a different supervisor.
%%* ''FanFic/MegamiNoHanabira'': Mai and Reo, and Yuuna and Nanami. Sara has a girlfriend as well: Kaede, but she’s not a part of the team at the moment.
* In the ''FanFic/FacingTheFutureSeries'', Danny and Sam have become this following Sam gaining ghost powers.
* Petra and Brynjolf in ''FanFic/{{Draknophobia}}'' though prone to splitting apart, there are times where they really work well together, before and after they actually get into a relationship. And [[spoiler: [[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsIIIMorrowind The Nerevarine]]]] fights alongside Older!Ayisha often as well, as warrior and mage respectively.
* In ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' fic ''Fanfic/WhyandWere'', Assassin Johanna Smith-Rhodes provides the muscle and fighting ability; wizard Ponder Stibbons is the magical half of the relationship. It is established over several stories, especially in ''Fanfic/SlippingBetweenWorlds'', that she would kill for him and he would put his life on the line for her.
* Sam/Jessica in all parts of the crossoverfic of ''Supernatural'' and ''The Matrix'' ''Fanfic/HuntingSeries''
** The threesome of Neo/Dean/Smith who hunt the 'supernatural' programs and such that inhabit The Matrix.
* Kim and Shego in the ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' fanfic ''Fanfic/AtTheCenterfoldOfTheStorm''. Unlike in most [[PortmanteauCoupleName Kigo]] fics that focus on the two settling down and starting a family, Kim and Shego decide to continue in the [[BadassGay Secret Agent/Super Hero]] line of work, such as battling volcanoes, fighting HumongousMecha on foot and taking on the entire criminal underworld.
* Red Ranger Sean O'Callahan and Yellow Ranger Maria Aparicio of ''FanFic/PowerRangersGPX'' fit this bill once they start dating. They even get the occasional BackToBackBadasses moments.
* Although they're very much one in canon already, it shows with Han and Leia in the ''Franchise/StarWars'' fic ''[[https://m.fanfiction.net/s/7034896/1/ The Princess And The Pirate]]''. Han, Leia and Luke have ended up captured. Han's already been dragged off and severely beaten once. He's got assorted fractures, bruises, internal injuries and a high fever. But the moment some of the guards start turning their attention to Leia, Han's on his feet, giving them a DeathGlare and warning them that they're dead if they touch her. They do realize that he means business, even in his condition. Later, when they try dragging Han off again, Leia unleashes on them with Force power, because there's no way she's going to let her husband get tortured some more.
* In the Infinite Stratos fanfic, ''FanFic/InfiniteStratosToTheOtherEndOfTheWorld'', there are quite some battle couples. Hackers are trained as BashBrothers, but in later chapters, the hackers discover they can work pretty well with Infinite Stratos pilots as well. An example that is most prominent are Kerlongsj and Chifuyu fight [[BackToBackBadass as one]] and they take out an entire army with just the two of them. Due to their history, they're quite good at it, despite the huge difference in style, weapons and special powers.
* ''Fanfic/{{Atonement}}'':
** Battery and Assault, two veteran superheroes, are married.
** Main character and rookie hero Tether and her girlfriend Sundancer after the latter joins the Protectorate.
* In ''Fanfic/{{Wonderful}}'', Gallant and Glory Girl are a couple and members of the same super-heroic team. He's an empath and she a FlyingBrick.
* [[Characters/MetroidSamusAran Samus Aran]] and [[Series/KamenRiderGaim Mitsuzane Kureshima]] in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11772125/1/Metroid-Kamen-Rider-Generations-Full-Series Metroid: Kamen Rider Generations]]'' - Intergalactic bounty hunter and Armored/New Generation Rider.
* Asuka and Shinji in ''Fanfic/NeonGenesisEvangelionGenocide'' are a couple and when they're together, they fight better and harder. When [[EldritchAbomination Samael]] fought both, it defeated Asuka, but when it was about to crush Shinji, Asuka went berserker and killed Samael. They also fought [[spoiler:the MP-Evas and the final HumanoidAbomination]] back-to-back.
* ''Fanfic/BloodAndHonor'': Sanguis and Quinn, though they go back and forth on the "couple" part for about half the story due to Quinn's personal issues. Eventually they end up together on and off the battlefield. Sanguis typically gets in close with her lightsabers to take out the biggest threat while Quinn uses his brains and blaster to wreak havoc from a distance.
* ''FanFic/TheBridge'' gives us, after a half dozen RelationshipUpgrade moments to go from enemies to friends to OfficialCouple, [[spoiler: Aria Blaze and Monster X when they have the final confrontation with Enjin]]. Bonus points for the story's first OfficialKiss happening right after they won.
* Both of the main couples in ''[[Fanfic/TwiceUponAnAge All This Sh*t is Twice as Weird]]'' do this a couple of times.
* In ''Fanfic/NeonMetathesisEvangelion , that is Asuka ''and Rei''. Not so much Shinji. Shinji never moves past his loathing for piloting and would prefer to just stay the TeamChef and the [[OneTrueThreesome triad's]] moral support.

Their treatment of the bad guys is SCARY. You do not mess with puppies and let their parents find out. It is clear these dogs will go through hell and back to save their puppies - all of them.
* ''Disney/TheRescuers'': Bernard and Bianca make a living out of beating down bad guys. He's about to propose to her in ''Down Under'' before another adventure interrupts him.

* WesternAnimation/PussInBoots and Kitty Softpaws; a pair of thieves that frequently flirt while on assignment.

* Marianne and [[spoiler:the Bog King]] from ''WesternAnimation/StrangeMagic'' - both of them hold their own in the first fight scene they share, but it's when they team up to defeat Marianne's [[spoiler:ex-fiancé]] that they truly show that together they're a force to be reckoned with. [[spoiler:The Bog King]] is naturally terrifying given what kind of creature he is, but Marianne shows that she can be just as ferocious and threatening.

* ''Film/CalamityJane'': Considering how Calamity Jane and Bill Hickok are skilled gunslingers and like trouble, you'd think they'd turn out to be this couple in an instant, but it's implied to be averted after they get together as both of them want to settle down and raise children. They've been close friends for quite some time, so it's not outlandish to assume that they played this straight at some point.

** Creator/JRRTolkien also wrote that Rohirrim women often took up weapons to defend their homes when their lands were invaded.
** Celeborn and Galadriel fight together.
* ''Literature/TheSilmarillion'':
** Lúthien Tinúviel and Beren. He is a mighty physical warrior. She is a elf sorcerer capable to bring down a fortress and put the GodOfEvil of her world to sleep. Together they complemented each other's skills, humiliated Dark Lords, and their deeds were theme of songs seventy centuries after their deaths.
%%* ''{{Graceling}}'': Katsa and Po.
* Ellie and Will from Courtney Allison Moulton's Angelfire series who take on demonic armies together.
* ''Literature/{{Animorphs}}'' are LaResistance against an alien invasion.
** Rachel is a BloodKnight and Tobias is a bird of prey; they become a couple.
** Jake is TheLeader and Cassie is [[BewareTheNiceOnes more dangerous than she appears]]; they are frequently teased ''before'' becoming a couple.
** Aldrea the Andalite meets Dak Hamee, the Hork Bajir seer, during the battle to keep the Hork Bajir home world free from the Yeerks. Almost a whole book and several lifestyle-related struggles later, they become a mated pair, give birth to a son, and decades later their descendants form the first members of the free Hork Bajir on Earth.
* Kate Daniels and Curran from the ''Literature/KateDaniels'' series, often fight together and never lose.
%%* In ''SevenMenOfGascony'' Nicholette marries several successive men, all of which die except Gabriel who is the last of TheSquad.
* In ''Literature/BlackDaggerBrotherhood'' novels, this trope is inverted with Xhex and John, as fighting together causes major problems in their relationship. Though he knows that she's a capable warrior, bonded males are genetically hardwired to protect their mates at any cost, so his instincts keep firing up on the battlefield and putting them both in danger. This pisses her off as she thinks he doesn't respect her skills; they separate for a good long while because of it.
* Ruggiero and Bradamante from ''Literature/OrlandoFurioso''. When they're reunited halfway through the work, the first thing Bradamante does is go off to save a dude, and Ruggiero is thrilled to have a woman understand what he does.
* Slippery Jim [=diGriz=] (''Literature/TheStainlessSteelRat'') and Angelina, his wife and fellow criminal genius. He's a criminal mastermind who dislikes killing. She's a formerly-psychotic criminal mastermind who bemoans the fact that she can't casually kill people now she's had a conscience implanted. TheyFightCrime ''with'' crime.
* Creator/SandyMitchell's ''Literature/CiaphasCain'', HERO OF THE IMPERIUM, novels
** The mixed-gender Valhallan 597th features several couples. These include Cain's own liaison with Lady Inquisitor Amberley Vail, as well as a male trooper named Vorhees and a female trooper named Drere in ''Caves of Ice'', and a strongly implied lesbian relationship between Sergeant Grifen and trooper Mari Magot in the same book.
** Cain invokes this trope; relationships in the guard normally aren't allowed but Cain allows it because it improves morale and makes them fight harder.
** [[ColonelBadass Colonel Kasteen]] and [[MajorlyAwesome Major Broklaw]], the commander and NumberTwo of the 597th respectively. Nothing romantic is ever confirmed in-story, but Broklaw refers to Kasteen by her given name, implying they're on FirstNameBasis -- which is highly unusual for a relationship that's merely commander-subordinate.
* Literature/AmeliaPeabody and her husband Radcliffe Emerson, Egyptologists and incidental detectives in the Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. The stories are set stretching from the Victorian era into the Roaring Twenties. Peabody and Emerson are grandparents, now, but that only slows them down a little. They have produced a second generation Battle Couple, their son Walter "Ramses" Emerson and his wife Nefret. The third generation is alarmingly precocious and will almost certainly turn out to be Meddling Kids.
* ''Literature/MalazanBookOfTheFallen'':
** Koryk and Smiles occasionally act like this. The fact that they flirt while killing people is disconcerting.
** Picker and Blend are a lesbian battle couple. They've been going steady ever since joining the Malazan army. Picker is proficient with the sword and crossbow, while Blend prefers long-knives and stealth, and Blend acts like something of an aide for (first Corporal then Lieutnant) Picker as they need little words to communicate.
* Dawn and Julius in ''Literature/TheRadiantDawn''. Played oddly because Julius is fully willing to not contest Dawn charging into battle against clearly defined enemies and assumes she can handle herself, but worries greatly about her being stabbed in the back by someone she doesn't think is an enemy.
* Creator/DanAbnett's ''TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}}'' series ''Literature/GauntsGhosts'':
** Tona Criid and Caffran, who met during the battle for Vervunhive in ''Necropolis''.
** Jessi Banda and Major Elim Rawne, who are wounded in ''Straight Silver'', though they are less tight.
** It is implied that Brin Milo and the esholi priestess Sanian developed a connection in ''Honour Guard'', which carries on to ''Sabbat Martyr'' when [[spoiler: Sanian becomes the reincarnated Saint Sabbat]].
* Creator/SimonRGreen loves this trope:
** ''Hawk and Fisher'' stories feature the titular couple, a pair of captains of the City Guard.
** The ''Literature/{{Nightside}}'' is home to GuileHero John Taylor and his MoreDakka-addicted ally Shotgun Suzie. Where her overwhelming firepower doesn't suffice, his dirty tricks and unique Gift can tip the odds.
** ''Literature/SecretHistories'' features Eddie Drood and Molly Metcalf, a {{Magitek}} PoweredArmor secret agent and the Witch of the Wild Woods.
** ''Literature/{{Deathstalker}}'' has futuristic SuperSoldier Owen Deathstalker & Hazel d'Ark, as well Jack Random and Ruby Journey.
* ''Literature/VorkosiganSaga'':
** Aral Vorkosigan and Cordelia Naismith meet in this fashion. They take out the mutineers on Vorkosigan's crew (twice).
** Admiral Naismith/Miles Vorkosigan and Elli Quinn are a straighter example of this. She dual hats as his intelligence chief and executive officer when he leads the Dendarii Free Mercenary Fleet. [[spoiler:The relationship ends when Miles is forced to retire to civilian life.]]
%%* Creator/AgathaChristie's Thomas and Tuppence Beresford.
* ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' Two examples in the City Watch
** Carrot and Angua, both police
** Sybil and Vimes; TheCaptain of the City Watch and his LadyOfWar wife.
%%** Lofty and Tonker in ''Discworld/MonstrousRegiment''.
%%* OlderThanFeudalism: From Creator/{{Homer}}, we have Achilles and Patroclus; Virgil's ''Literature/TheAeneid'' later gives us Nisus/Euryalus and Clytius/Cydon.
* In general the Star Wars [[Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse EU]] is full of these with the majority of the main couples being battle couples.
** Wedge and Iella, Corran and Mirax, Kell and Tyria, Face and Dia, Gavin and Asyr Myn and [[BecomingTheMask Lara]]... it should go without saying that the [[ComicBook/XWingSeries X-Wing series]] of the ''Franchise/StarWars'' [[Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse EU]], being about fighter pilots, has a ''lot'' of these.
** Luke and Mara transitioned into this from FireForgedFriends.
** Han and Leia are mentioned under film already, but their battle couple status continues in the expanded universe.
** [[Literature/FateOfTheJedi Ben and Vestara]]; He's a jedi and [[DatingCatwoman she's a Sith apprentice.]] [[spoiler:It doesn't work out.]] One interesting example due to their main allegiance being to the order is Obi-Wan and Siri in that they both realize that they would rather be Jedi than in love.
* Every time Heralds and/or Hawkbrothers get together in the ''Literature/HeraldsOfValdemar'' series: Talia and Dirk, Elspeth and Darkwind, Kerowyn and Eldan .... A specific exception is Alberich and Myste; Alberich is the series' resident EmpoweredBadassNormal while the AuthorAvatar Myste, Herald or no, is a bookish librarian.
* Otori Takeo and Shirakawa Kaede (as well as Takeo and Muto Yuki) in ''Literature/TalesOfTheOtori''.
%%* Tiger and Del in the ''Sword Dancer'' series.
%%* Shoka and Taizu in Creator/CJCherryh's ''Literature/ThePaladin''.
* In the third book of the ''Literature/{{Mistborn}}'' series, Elend and Vin go beyond the BodyguardCrush relationship of the second book and straight into this following [[spoiler: Elend turning into a full-on Mistborn]].
* In the third book of ''Literature/TheBartimaeusTrilogy'', Nathaniel and Kitty become this, [[spoiler: almost kissing just before his heroic sacrifice]].
%%* Drizzt and Catti-brie were this in addition to an AdventureDuo in R.A. Salvatore's ''ForgottenRealms'' [[TheLegendOfDrizzt novels]], at least before her {{Chickification}} [[spoiler:(and also even before they 'officially' became a couple.)]]
* ''Literature/{{Nightside}}'': Suzie Shooter and John Taylor have been known to kick some serious ass, although their couple status is still a work in progress.
%%* ''Literature/CodexAlera'' by JimButcher gives us several. Most prominent throughout the series are Bernard and Amara, and later Tavi and Kitai. There's also are Lord and Lady Placida in ''First Lord's Fury'', who are [[CaptainErsatz homages]] to the already-mentioned Aral and Cordelia Vorkosigan.
%%* During the second [[Literature/TheHeirChronicles Heir Trilogy]] novel by Cinda Chima, it's evident that Ellen and Jack have become one.
%%* In the fifth ''Literature/MaximumRide'' book, [[spoiler: Max and Fang]] become this.
%%*Leisl and Sasha were well on their way to becoming this by the end of the {{Ravenloft}} novel ''Vampire of the Mists.''
* ''Literature/TheWheelOfTime'': The main plot of the series involves everyone preparing for [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt The Last Battle]], so every named couple falling in this trope. A few examples are Rand and Min/Aviendha/Elayne, Lan and Nynaeve, Egwene and Gawyn, Perrin and Faile, Siuan and Gareth, a few Aes Sedai and their Warders, a few Asha'man and their Warder-like Aes Sedai, and countless Aiel couples.
* Literature/QuantumGravity: Lila is a cyborg who was specifically made to be able to kill things. [[OurElvesAreBetter Zal does well in anything vaguely resembling a fair fight and is good with a bow.]] They get together; some wild magic sees to that. She also hits it off with [[spoiler:Teazle]], who lives among people who will have every fighting form ever and ''still'' can't find an even match.
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'' is full of these.
** Ron and Hermione can fight together when they aren't [[BelligerentSexualTension arguing]].
** Harry and Ginny fit on the occasion they fight together against their enemies. At the end of book six Harry tried to defy this trope by saying ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies but she wasn't having any of that.
** Since ''everyone'' joins in on the last battle in ''Deathly Hallows'', Lupin and Tonks, Mrs. Weasley and Mr. Weasley, and Fleur and Bill also count.
** Likely the Potters and the Longbottoms were Battle Couples during the first incarnation of the Order Of The Phoenix.
* ''Literature/MysticAndRider'' has the titular mystic and rider, Senneth and Tayse, who are so badass they take down an entire rebellion all by themselves. Senneth is a fire-throwing DeadpanSnarker; Tayse is a sword-wielding DeadpanSnarker - together, TheyFightCrime and snark at things!
%%* ''Literature/TheLastApprentice'' has Tom and Alice, who are gradually becoming one. They aren't officially a couple yet, but they have kissed a few times and it is obvious to everyone who knows them that they are sweet on each other.
%%* In Creator/AaronAllston's ''Literature/GalateaIn2D'', Red and Penny
* Addie and Rhys are this at the end of ''Literature/TheTwoPrincessesOfBamarre''. They declare their love for one another just before the final battle takes place.
* Kelley Armstrong's ''[[Literature/TheOtherworld Women of the Otherworld]]'' series.
** Clay and Elena He's the Pack's Enforcer, she learned to fight though necessity and long years of hardship, and together, they royally kick ass.
%%**All of the canon couples can be defined with this trope, with the possible exception of Lucas and Paige.
%%* Alec and Magnus from ''Literature/MortalInstruments''.
* ''Literature/TheStormlightArchive''. This is the [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Parshendi's]] primary method of fighting
* As shown on the covers of ''Literature/TheAlienSeries'', Kitty and Martini believe that the couple who kicks ass together stay together.
%%* Quite a few of them in the Literature/{{Emberverse}}, mainly among the good guys.
* ''[[Literature/CarrerasLegions The Amazon Legion]]'' invokes this intentionally with the ''Tercio Gorgidas'', a tercio (roughly equivalent of a regiment) comprised of homosexual male pairs who are married in a special ceremony, with an explicit nod given to the Sacred Band of Thebes (see the RealLife section).
%%* Bob and Mo in Literature/TheLaundrySeries.
* Bellisarius and Antoninia in ''Literature/BelisariusSeries'' (and in RealLife, by the way) although they are usually in different theaters. Also Rao and Shakuntala. The Theodoran Cohort has a number of Battle Couples.
* ''Literature/TheHungerGames''
** In the first book Katniss and [[spoiler: Peeta]]. Their 'tragic lovers fighting for their lives' story was a big hit among sponsors and attracted vital support during the games.
** Subverted in ''Mockingjay'': [[spoiler: Katniss and Gale act as this for most of the book, but never manage the RelationshipUpgrade]].
%%* ''Literature/InDeath'': Eve and Roarke.
%%* Literature/TimeScout: Malcolm Moore. Margo Smith. Time Scouts.
%%* Nico and Josef are a platonic example in ''Literature/TheSpiritThief'' (Legend of Eli Monpress series).
%%* Margaret Weis's ''Literature/TheStarOfTheGuardians'':
%%** Maigrey and Sagan
%%** Tusk and Nola
%%* Alec and Seregil from Lynn Flewelling's ''Literature/{{Nightrunner}}'' series are a gay example.
* ''Literature/TheSwordOfTruth''
** Richard and Kahlan are this and become more so after Richard taught her his methods of fighting. Zedd, Cara, and Nicci all take turns being the third wheel.
%%** Confessors and their Wizards are in some senses this.
** The Mord-Sith are this with the Lord Rahl. All of them. It's like a harem of dominatrix, AntiMagic, BreakTheCutie, magical-taser wielding Aryan bodyguards in various colors of leather!
* Literature/TalesOfKolmar has a bunch. Jamie was Maran's bodyguard, though she became a good fighter herself. Much later Jamie and Maran's friend Rella become this while trying to protect Lanen and Varien. Lanen lacks the necessary speed and will to be a career fighter but has to try her best anyway; Varien is new to being human and doesn't know what he's doing with a sword, but he's unnaturally strong and very protective.
* In ''Literature/TheParasolProtectorate''
** Lord and Lady Maccon are formidable when separate (one being a burly [[OurWerewolvesAreDifferent Alpha werewolf]] [[spoiler: and the other a [[TheSoulless Preternatural]] with a [[ParasolOfPain tricked-out parasol]].]]) and even more so when together.
** [[spoiler: [[BadassGay Lyall and Biffy]] also make a good enough team to keep Sidhaeg busy until sunrise, though the couple part doesn't become official until later.]]
* Rose and Dimitri in ''Literature/VampireAcademy'', they often fight alongside each other, facing the enemy jointly.
%%* The ''NightHuntress'' series: Cat and Bones. Other couples, such as Mencheres/Kira and Vlad/Leila count as well.
* ''Literature/TheMortalInstruments''
** [[spoiler:Alec]] and [[spoiler:Magnus]] are respectively a Shadowhunter (i.e., demon hunter) and a warlock who become a couple over the course of the trilogy while fighting evil. They fight together as partners in the final battle of ''City of Glass,'' when [[spoiler:a new rune allows pairs Shadowhunters and Downworlders (such as warlocks) to share their powers with one another]].
** Maryse and Robert Lightwood are a married couple of active Shadowhunters, although their partnership receives little "screen time," since they are not main characters.
* Will and Georgia from ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles'' are a married couple of werewolves who fight as a well-oiled tag team machine.
* Nathan and Elena, in ''Literature/TheMemoryWars'', have been lovers through most of their past lives, and can draw on centuries of shared combat experience to fight together with perfect precision.
* ''Literature/IslandInTheSeaOfTime'' has Marian Alston and Swindapa, a kick-ass, katana-wielding lesbian battle couple.
* Crown Prince Alaric of Caederan and his {{Love Interest|s}} (and future bride) Laeshana have a wonderful teamwork moment while fighting through roughly 500 fire-spiders.
* Deuce and Fade from ''Literature/RazorlandTrilogy'' start out as reluctant partners in the first book, but by the third they are battling Freaks side-by-side.
* The ''[[Literature/HonorHarrington Honorverse]]'' has Victor Cachat and Thandi Palane. He's a superspy, master of the IndyPloy and ice-cold killer, she's a SuperSoldier SpaceMarine who is more lethal bare-handed than most people would be with machineguns. It was more or less love at first sight.
* ''Literature/UkiahOregon'': Ukiah and Indigo, Max and Sam, Atticus and Ru, Rennie and Helena. Ukiah's moms are the only couple in the series who aren't.
* Auria and David from Those Who Cry Green Tears become this after Auria saves David from the Ombras (human eating monsters).
%%* In the MrAndMrsDarcyMysteries, Elizabeth and Darcy sometimes are this.
* In the ''Literature/AhrimanTrilogy'' this is part of the purpose of the mage/warden relationship. While they aren't explicitly intended to be romantic arrangements, it's universally acknowledged that they often end that way. Simon Bell's parents were mage/warden before they married and had kids.
* Averted and played straight in the ''Literature/TairenSoul'' series. The magically enhanced empathy of Fey women means that they can't fight in close combat, as they feel the pain of everyone they kill. However, Ellysetta is immune to this effect [[spoiler:because of the predatory tairen soul bonded to hers]] and fights alongside [[BenevolentMageRuler Rain]] in later books.
* ''Literature/JourneyToChaos''
** Sathel and Retina are a married couple and mercenary partners.
** A newspaper writer inquired into the "working relationship" of mercenaries Tiza and Nolien but Tiza [[HeIsNotMyBoyfriend insisted that this wasn't the case]]. It's a hard line to swallow considering how closely they work together and how protective they are.
* Darrow and [[spoiler: Mustang]] from the ''Literature/RedRising'' trilogy are definitely this trope. While most of the combat in the series involves large-scale military campaigns and space combat, whenever they're not carrying out their own parts of a multi-pronged gambit, they're right there in the thick of things with each other.
* In ''Literature/WarriorCats'', most couples tend to be this since most characters are active fighters. Firestar and Sandstorm are one particularly notable example since an entire book is devoted to them journeying together outside Clan territory.
* In ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'', we have a mild example in Aegon "the Conqueror" Targaryen and Visenya Targaryen. Aegon, being a typical Targaryen, married his two sisters and declared conquest on the continent of Westeros. They say that Aegon married Visenya out of duty (she was the eldest of the sisters) and Rhaenys out of love. Visenya was known as a great warrior and dragonrider, wielding a valyrian steel sword named Dark Sister. While Aegon may not have had any strong feelings for Visenya, she was still his wife and they conquered a continent together. Rhaenys was also a dragonrider but had not martial prowess under her belt beyond that.
* Romeo and Dagger in ''{{Literature:Wander}}'' are a somewhat downplayed example. They're both more than competent fighters, and by the end of the novel [[spoiler:are the only adult survivors of Camp Greenbow]], but they only actually fight when they have no other choice, and their most badass moment together, [[spoiler: fighting off a group of smilers while holed up in an abandoned farmhouse]], occurs off-screen.

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
%%* ''Series/TwentyFour'': In season eight, Jack Bauer and Renee Walker were this for less than one episode.
* ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'' has [[Comicbook/{{Mockingbird}} Bobbi Morse]] and Lance Hunter, as one of a [[CompositeCharacter number of traits]] the show's version of Hunter borrows from Comicbook/{{Hawkeye}}. The pair of them are [[WorkingWithTheEx formally married]] [[BadassNormal Badass Normals]] and two of [[Comicbook/{{SHIELD}} SHIELD's]] finest combat agents.
%%* ''Series/{{Angel}}'': By the end, Fred and Wes have a battle couple scene in the beginning of "A Hole In The World".
* ''Series/{{Arrow}}'' sees this happened quite a few times:
** Ollie had a brief fling in Season 1 with the Huntress in the hope to curb her more violent tendencies and in Season 2 hooks up with the original Canary after finding out who she is. [[spoiler: Sara herself was implied to have been Nyssa's lover during her time in the League of Assassins and left because she got tired of the life of an assassin.]]
** As part of the background, John Diggle and Lyla Michaels met during their time as soldiers in Afghanistan, then got divorced. After Diggle became part of Ollie's crusade and Lyla joined ARGUS, then reunited and even got remarried.
* ''Series/BabylonFive'': John Sheridan and Delenn:
-->'''Delenn, while in command of four very nasty warships''': Only one human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari fleet. ''He'' is behind me. ''You'' are in front of me. If you value your lives, '''''be somewhere else!!'''''
-->'''Sheridan, upon coming BackFromTheDead thanks to [[ThePowerOfLove The Power Of Delenn's Love]]''': I'll never leave you, Delenn. Not if the whole universe stood between us.
%%* ''Series/BattlestarGalacticaClassic'': Apollo and Serina from the original show fall into this [[spoiler:up until Serina's death.]] Starbuck and Athena fall into this as well, even for just one episode.
* ''Series/BattlestarGalactica2003'': Has Apollo and Starbuck, who do better together in battle than as a couple.
* ''Series/{{Bones}}'': Booth and the title character, who are definitely violently protective of each other and fighting bad guys. He's an FBI agent and she's a brilliant scientist.
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'': All of Buffy's boyfriends.
** Buffy and Angel, who spent a lot of time fighting evil together and were nearly unstoppable. He left after season 3, but they got to fight one last battle together in the series finale.
** Buffy and Riley, until he lost his heightened abilities when he stopped taking The Initiative's drugs. Unfortunately this was one of the factors leading to their break-up, as Riley's lack of superpowers meant he couldn't keep up with Buffy in a fight. Riley returns for "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS6E15AsYouWere As You Were]]" in Season 6 where he's married to a BadassNormal ActionGirl, forming a new Battle Couple.
** Buffy and Spike form an instinctive fighting team from the moment they [[EnemyMine reluctantly team up to fight Angelus]] at the end of Season 2. It's a sign they're NotSoDifferent and foreshadows their eventual pair-up in Season 6.
* ''Series/BurnNotice'': Burned CIA-spy Michael and former-IRA member, gun runner, and explosive-experts Fiona are not to be trifled with, alone or together. Possibly best illustrated in the episode Better Halves, where Fiona and Michael take on the superior numbers of a Russian strike team with [[BackToBackBadasses each other at their backs]].
* Rick Castle and Kate Becket from ''Series/{{Castle}}'': She's a New York PD Detective and he's a tag along writer. Together they fight crime! Kate will [[HeIsNotMyBoyfriend never admit they are a couple]] but EveryoneCanSeeIt so she doesn't have to. [[spoiler: They have been together since the beginning of season 5.]]
* ''Series/{{Charmed}}'': The woman, Piper, who is the more aggressive one, and the man, Leo, is the more peaceful one. When it comes to the safety of their children, the opposition tends to explode spectacularly.
* ''Series/{{Chuck}}'': Chuck and Sarah become this late in the third season. Especially evident in "Chuck vs. the Honeymooners", when their fighting (while cuffed together) looks a much like a dance as a fight, and in "Chuck vs. the First Fight", where they fight bad guys while fighting with each other.
** Before Chuck and Sarah got together, there was Sarah and Bryce (whenever the latter happened to be around). In ''Chuck vs. the Nemesis'', Chuck's reaction to watching them fight together was a dazed, "Wow. They really are great."
%%** General Beckman and Roan Montgomery.
* Danny and Lindsay from ''Series/{{CSINY}}'' both spend a lot of time fighting bad guys and there have been a lot of flying bullets in their romance.
* ''Series/{{Dexter}}'': Dexter and Lumen become this in Season 5. Instead of battle, they're both serial killers.
* ''Series/DoctorWho'':
** The Doctor and River Song; he is a MemeticBadass both in-universe and out, and she is [[spoiler:a part-Time Lord genetically bred child created as a weapon to fight the Doctor. She fell in love with him instead]]. They've fought off alien invaders back-to-back, while flirting and their names strike fear in villains everywhere. River once made a Dalek beg for mercy! [[spoiler: They're married!]]
** In the serial "Battlefield", Ancelyn and Brigadier Bambera start out beating on each other and end up as a glorious example of this trope.
** Amy and Rory grew into a (mostly) non-violent example over the course of series 5, with him [[NonActionGuy growing into the "adventure" part]] and her [[RunawayBride growing into the couple part]]. It's embraced in series 6. It is awesome to finally see those two kicking ass together. Their marriage defeated the Weeping Angels!
** Madam Vastra and Jenny Flint; sword-wielding interspecies lesbian detectives who fight crime in Victorian London (and sometimes other eras). The 2012 Christmas special confirms that they're not just together, they're ''married''.
* ''Series/{{Dollhouse}}'': Paul and Echo successfully watch each others' backs through [[spoiler: ten years and an apocalypse]].
* ''Series/{{Farscape}}'': John Crichton and Aeryn Sun. A slight variant, as he starts off being mostly useless in combat (he was a scientist before he was shot across the universe), but by the end he's not only protecting her as much as she protects him she finds his insane "plans" and constant, nigh-incomprehensible-to-aliens pop culture references charming and fun. Perhaps best shown at the start of the Peacekeeper Wars. They are reformed after two months NotQuiteDead in the same passionate kiss they were in before. They pull apart, stare tenderly into each others eyes, and at ''the exact same moment'' pull out their weapons and have the whole room covered. It's awesome.
* ''Series/{{Firefly}}'':
** Wash and Zoe have faced a great deal of danger together. Interestingly, Zoe is the warrior of the couple. Her husband Wash is an AcePilot. He might fool viewers at first, but he's pretty badass and shows off in "War Stories".
--->'''Zoe''': Take the helm, sir? I need this man to tear all my clothes off.\\
'''Wash''': Work, work, work. . .
** Downplayed in Zoe and Mal. Despite fighting through the war and facing life and death together, there is no romance between them, as we see in "War Stories". They are close and tight friends, but definitely not a romantic couple. When they tease her husband with a bit of awkward flirting at the end of the episode it's described as "downright unsettling".
* ''Series/GenerationKill'': SubvertedTrope. One of the Marines receives a letter from his MyGirlBackHome. She announces that she has enlisted in the Marine Corps to be able to fight alongside him. He is annoyed by this because, not only is she ineligible to join Marine Recon with him, she could potentially be deployed somewhere away from his own duty station.
* ''Series/GetSmart'': Max and 99. They also qualify as AgentsDating.
* In ''Series/{{Hannibal}}'', Will and Hannibal officially become this in the final episode when [[spoiler: they take down and kill Francis Dolarhyde, the Red Dragon]]. The looks they give each other can only be described as "fuck-me eyes".
* ''Series/HartToHart'': Yet another battle/spy couple are Jonathan and Jennifer Hart.
* ''Series/KamenRiderDragonKnight'': Features Len and Kase, who are separated for the first half of the show due to her being MIA from a previous battle that [[KillEmAll didn't go well]]. Unlike the general version of the trope, they're both superheroes that fight physically; "magic" is only used to boost the power of their normal attacks.
%%* ''Series/LegendOfTheSeeker'': Richard and Kahlan. This is a change from the [[Literature/TheSwordOfTruth source material]], where Kahlan's skill in battle depended on the plot.
* ''Series/{{Lost}}'': Kate and Sawyer used to a formidable tagteam regardless of their relationship status at the moment. Kate also occasionally had this with Sayid.
%%** Sawyer and [[spoiler: Juliet]] become a straighter example in S5.
%%* ''Series/{{Merlin}}'': Tristan and Isolde.
* ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers'': Tommy Oliver and Kimberly Hart. In one episode they were on a date, spotted the MonsterOfTheWeek, morphed, and kicked its ass.
* ''Series/{{NCIS}}'': Tony and Ziva disguise themselves as this in the episode "Under Covers", and goodness knows [[FanPreferredCouple many viewers want them to be this all the time]].
* ''Series/{{Nikita}}'': Michael and Nikita overlap with AgentsDating.
* ''Series/OnceUponATime'': Prince Charming and Snow White; he's a badass with a broadsword and she's skilled in both [[BowAndSwordInAccord archery and swordplay]]. When the Queen shows up at the wedding she unhesitatingly drew Charming's sword.
** Emma and Hook have progressed from [[FoeYay flirty enemies]] to allies to friends to [[RelationshipUpgrade this]] over the course of the show. Their typical response to the other being in danger is to [[LetsGetDangerous get dangerous]] and kick the ass of the aggressor.
* ''Series/OnceUponATimeInWonderland'' has Alice and her Genie lover, Cyrus. Training with swords doubled as flirtation for them, and they fought off numerous attempts to steal [[GenieInABottle the bottle]] during their many adventures. In one flashback, the couple is ambushed by bandits, and Cyrus cheerfully informs them that ''Alice'' is the one they should worry about. He's right, of course, and the couple quickly drive their attackers off.
* ''Series/PersonOfInterest'':
** Root and Shaw
* ''Series/{{Revolution}}'': [[Recap/RevolutionS1E13TheSongRemainsTheSame Episode 13]] and [[Recap/RevolutionS1E16TheLoveBoat episode 16]] show Charlie Matheson and Jason Neville becoming this.
* ''Series/RobinHood'': From the BBC's show: not so much Robin and Marian (they are rarely seen fighting together), but outlaws Will Scarlett and Djaq. Their first act as an official couple is to kill a man, after which Will informs the corpse: "She's with me."
%%* ''Series/ScarecrowAndMrsKing''
* ''Series/{{Sharpe}}'': Richard Sharpe and Teresa Moreno from the novels and TV series are the archetype. They met fighting in Spain. They fell in love, married and had a daughter (not necessarily in that order). In between these episodes, they fought against Napoleon's armies in Spain.
* ''Series/SpartacusBloodAndSand'': Has a bunch of these:
** Spartacus and Sura kick ass together in the first episodes, and when Spartacus dreams about her or thinks up his escape plans they are always fighting together.
** Later Spartacus and Mira; Mira is not a gladiator but she's ferocious with a knife, and they fight together multiple times.
** Crixus and Naevia count as well; at first was DamselInDistress, but then Crixus taught her how to properly chop off heads, and now they happily slay Romans together.
** Agron and Nasir fought together before they became a couple, and now that they are together they continue to kick Roman ass.
** From the prequel we have Barca and Auctus, who trained and fought together for many years.
* ''Series/StargateSG1'': Rya'c and Kar'yn become this in the episode "Sacrifices". This trope is {{lampshade|Hanging}}d and used to justify their marriage when they face opposition from Teal'c on the basis that Rya'c has chosen to fight the Goa'uld and that war has to be his priority. As Ishta points out, "A warrior is always stronger with another at his side" so being a Battle Couple will be better for both them and their cause.
* ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'':
** Odo and Kira, toward the end of the series.
** All Klingon relationships. Klingons adore Battle Couples and they are OlderThanDirt in their culture. Not only is there the legendary pair Kahless and Lukara but stories of Battle Couples go back from the legendary to the mythic when the Klingon AdamAndEve decided to sack the heavens together instead of fighting each other. In every Klingon marriage an important part is promising to be a Battle Couple. [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Worf]] and [[ActionGirl Jadzia Dax]] tended to have their most dramatic moments exemplifying this trope.
** Many Bajoran relationships fall along similar lines to the klingons.
** Quark started a battle couple relationship in order to court a Klingon Noblewoman. This is the same episode where Jadzia and Worf first hook up (while playing matchmaker for Quark). The ending plays this for laughs as ''both'' couples end up in the infirmary due to injuries sustained during their Klingon-style lovemaking. Dr. Bashir subsequently swears off asking people "how did you injure yourself?" because he really doesn't want to know.
%%** Odo and Kira Nerys.
* ''Series/{{Torchwood}}'': In this Who-spinoff, Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones eventually become this after Ianto [[TookALevelInBadass takes a level in bad-ass]] before the events of ''Children of Earth'.
* ''Series/{{Undercovers}}'': Another battle couple/AgentsDating cross are Steven and Samantha Bloom.
%%* ''Series/TheVampireDiaries'': Stefan and Elena.
%%* ''The Walk'': The music video for Mayer Hawthorne's show.
* ''Series/TheWire'':
** Armed robber Omar almost always has one of his stick-up crew as a boyfriend. He goes through at least three over the course of the series.
** Starting in season two, Omar joins forces with Tosha and Kimmy, who are vaguely implied to be lesbian lovers.
* ''Series/XenaWarriorPrincess'':
** [[BelligerentSexualTension On occasion]], Xena and Ares; the warrior princess and the warrior god get along very well.
** More commonly Xena has this dynamic with her sidekick, [[LesYay Gabrielle]].
* ''Series/TheXFiles'': Mulder and Scully could kick ass with the best of them from Season One though it took them several more years to [[WillTheyOrWontThey figure the 'couple' part out]].
* Ethan Chandler and Vanessa Ives of ''Series/PennyDreadful'' during the episode "And Hell Itself My Only Foe". When Pinkerton agent Warren Roper shows up to forcibly bring Ethan back to America, threatening also to rape and kill Vanessa, Ethan and Vanessa both end up attacking him, simultaneously kicking (Ethan) and stabbing him (Vanessa) to death.

[[folder:Professional Wrestling]]
* Wrestling/{{AAA}} had Xóchitl Hamada and Pentagón Black, typically against members of the Moreno family. AAA also sort of encourages this kind of thing with its "mixed" tag team division.
* Wrestling/RingOfHonor(and JAPW for that matter) has a possible case Buff E and Mace Mendoza of the Christopher Street Connection. Confirmed cases? Steve Corino and Simply Luscious, Wrestling/{{Raven}} and Trinity, Wrestling/CMPunk and [[Wrestling/DaffneyUnger Lucy]], Wrestling/JimmyJacobs and The Lovely Lacey, Mike Bennet and Maria Kanellis, Michael Elgin and Wrestling/MsChif...
* It's not just a connection to Beyond Wrestling that makes Wrestling/{{CZW}} a frequent contributor to Wrestling/{{WSU}}'s [[TournamentArc Queen and King Of The Ring]], as the promotion seems to produce quite a few battle couples. Confirmed cases include Wrestling/ChristinaVonEerie and Masada, Cherry Bomb and Pepper Parks, Nevaeh and Jake Christ...
* The Marquee Bruce Santee and Super Model Amy Love on ''ACW - American Combat'', though it was sort of forced by their enemies, [[PowerStable The Empire]].
* Pro wrestling's hottest couple[[DramaticPause ...]]''ever'', Santana Garrett and Chasyn Rance of FOW(and many more Southern Championship, Believe, Belleview, etc).
* Mad Man Pondo and Crazy Mary Dobson were engaged while they were Wrestling/JuggaloChampionshipWrestling's TagTeam Title holders.
* The South Pacific Power Couple (TK Cooper and Dahlia Black) who have appeared in companies such as Wrestling/ProgressWrestling.

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* In any tabletop game, there can be this with characters who are a couple.
* Ah, the sweet romance and UnholyMatrimony that is Vlad and Isabella von Carstein in ''TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}}'' Vlad is one of the deadliest melee characters and a decent Wizard to boot, being a Vampire Lord. Isabella's no slouch as a Vampire Hero, though her role is to be a CombatMedic. They get a significant buff if they share a unit. Either goes into a frenzy if the other is killed.
** In universe, when Vlad was killed, Isabella threw herself to her death, and in the End Times, a resurrected Vlad's love for Isabella let Vlad be coerced by the big players that ended up causing the [[spoiler:[[ApocalypseHow Class X destruction of the setting.]]]]
* ''WeaponsOfTheGods'', the wuxia RPG based on the comic of the same name, has several sections on this trope as exemplified in Shen Zhou, both on setting lore and mechanical impacts of the relationship. The example couple given for the section "Husband and Wife" is Sun and Yin, who keep arguing about Sun's oath of compassion and Yin's reluctance to honor that oath as Sun's wife ''while surrounded by and fighting an enemy army all by themselves''.
* TabletopGame/{{Exalted}} has this as part of the mechanics; specifically, all Solars and Lunars are matched up in three hundred pairs called Bonds. The Bond is not necessarily romantic, it can just as easily be [[AdventureDuo platonic]]; in fact, most examples of it are. None the less, the possibility is there - for one, the Exalted setting has very little prejudice against homosexual pairings, and for the other, Lunars are consummate shapeshifters.
* Couples in ''TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering'' occasionally share a creature card, with one recent example being [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=398453 Pia and Kiran Nalaar]]. They may not have shared their daughter's pyromancy, but they were still pretty good at making things go boom pre- DeathByOriginStory.

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Marjory Delaqua and Kasmeer Meade in the living story for ''VideoGame/GuildWars2''. In the living story season 2, your character is joined by a small party of adventurers which includes this duo, and a variety of battles and adventures are had.
* Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance from the video game ''VideoGame/HalfLife2''. While the exact nature of their relationship isn't clear (Gordon [[HeroicMime never speaking]] makes things difficult), whatever it was, it was forged in the fires of battle.
* ''VideoGame/JaggedAlliance 2''
** Raider and Raven. It doesn't make for any huge change as gameplay is concerned (they merely share moral gains.), but they do have their own [[InformalEulogy Informal Eulogies]] for each other if one should get killed in battle.
** There's also Wolf and Fox -- she's the reason he lost all that weight.
* ''VideoGame/MetalGear'':
** In ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid4GunsOfThePatriots'', [[spoiler:Johnny]] eventually wins [[spoiler:Meryl]]'s heart by saving [[spoiler:her]] life on not one but three occasions. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QofhJhJGBjw In this scene]], they hold a door against endless waves of attackers while slipping new magazines into each others guns, and proposing each other for marriage.
** In ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid3SnakeEater'', [[spoiler:the Boss and the Sorrow had such a relationship before suffering a fate much worse than StarCrossedLovers - being forced to fight each other to the death in order to uphold loyalty to their respective nations, namely the US and the USSR. Said fight ended in the Sorrow's death. However, before being forced to split, the Boss gave birth to The Sorrow's son (Revolver Ocelot) while participating in the D-Day invasion.]] [[spoiler: Later, it turns out that the Sorrow ''encouraged'' the Boss to kill him to complete her mission. This strongly implies that the Sorrow wasn't willing to fight to defend himself against her, showing that his loyalty was first and foremost to her]].
%%* Max Payne and Mona Sax turn into one of these during the course of ''VideoGame/MaxPayne2TheFallOfMaxPayne''.
%%* [[HoYay Depending on who you ask,]] Tyson Rios and Eliot Salem in ''VideoGame/ArmyOfTwo''.
* Pick a ''VideoGame/FireEmblem'' couple. For characters to develop a relationship, the gameplay requires them to stand close on the battlefield a certain amount of time. You get bonuses added to their stats when they do this. With Min-maxed supports (for example 2 earth alignments for hax evade) the units in question are able to take on half the battle ''by themselves''. ThePowerOfLove (or [[ThePowerOfFriendship friendship]]), is indeed a mighty force.
** The most obvious examples, both story- and gameplay-wise, might be Louise and Pent from ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade The Blazing Blade]]'' (a HappilyMarried couple who start out with an automatic, unbreakable A-rank support) and Micaiah and Sothe from ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemRadiantDawn Radiant Dawn]]'' (who, once again, start out with an automatic A-rank support and will [[spoiler:marry at the end if the player doesn't break up their support]]).
** Brought to new highs in ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening''. Now two characters can go together (as in, sharing the same tile), which gives the active partner a boost in stats and allows their RelationshipValues to develop faster. All male/female team-ups (except brother-sister or parent-child relationships, pairings involving a generation gap excluding those with the Avatar, and certain pairings involving [[TheHero Chrom]] or Sumia--who can only marry a handful of characters--or Flavia, Basilio, Anna, Say'ri, Tiki, or [[spoiler:the [=SpotPass=] characters]]--who can only marry the Avatar) can potentially end up in marriage.
*** A similar system takes place in ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'', with the perk of adding two [[GayOption Bisexual Options]] to the Avatar's potential love life ([[AntiHero Niles]] for a Male Avatar, [[DarkMagicalGirl Rhajat]] for the Female one).
* This is half the point of the ''VideoGame/ArTonelico'' games. Inevitably the main character (who is a melee fighter) is paired with a backline magic-using woman. When blocking attacks against her, he stands very, very close. When she is casting spells, their power is increased by her love for him. In the second game, the combat dialog is full of innuendo.
* Franchise/{{Sonic|TheHedgehog}} and [[ClingyJealousGirl Amy]] zigzag this trope depending on the game.
** ''VideoGame/{{Sonic Advance|Trilogy}} 3'' is a parody because they are referred to as a "Lovely Couple" even though Sonic doesn't look too happy about it, while Amy ''wishes'' they were.
** In ''VideoGame/SonicChronicles'' it's up to the player if they become this trope or not.
** Downplayed in ''Sonic Rush'' where Sonic and Blaze fight against Eggman and Eggman Nega. Despite the occasional ShipTease, it's up for interpretation whether there is anything between the two.
** [[ShipTease Depending on how you look at it]], Rouge could very well be this with Knuckles in the ''Anime/SonicX'' adaption, or sometimes in the games themselves. Or she could be this with Shadow, due to them working together so well.
* The Cool Couple double battle trainers in the ''VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire'' games, and the Double Team trainers, the Generation IV version of the Cool Couple (a pair of Cool Trainers or Ace Trainers, respectively). They make it in the anime [[http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Oscar_and_Andi as Oscar and Andi]]. See Anime.
* In the ''Franchise/SlyCooper'' games, Sly and Carmelita qualify, [[DatingCatwoman when the latter is not trying to arrest the former]] they work together. [[spoiler: In the end of [[VideoGame/Sly3HonorAmongThieves the third game]], Sly fakes amnesia so he can become her constable.]]
* ''VideoGame/SouthParkTheFracturedButWhole'' has Super Craig and Wonder Tweek who had intended to be a battle duo. Due to their factional split, they are described as "dating and fighting", but recent content has also mentioned their ultimate attacks being a combination.
* Creator/BioWare... This Trope is one of their favorites. [[GayOption The gender]] [[BiTheWay combination of]] the PlayerCharacter and [[PurelyAestheticGender his or her]] bedmate [[GenderNeutralWriting doesn't matter]].
** ''Franchise/BaldursGate'' series has a few. There's Khalid and Jaheira, and to a lesser extent, Eldoth and Skie, in the first game. In the second game, the player him-/herself could have one, with one of the several options, while Haer'Dalis and Aerie, and maybe Korgan and Mazzy, have potential for this as well (but in an unmodded game go nowhere).
** The possibilities for this in the ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' games are endless... In the first game, [[spoiler: Revan]] and Bastila (especially awesome if [[spoiler: you decide to join Bastila on the Dark Side]], or alternatively heartwarming if you can use ThePowerOfLove to [[spoiler: return her to the light side]]) if you play male. Carth or [[GayOption even Juhani]] if you play female. You get a choice in the second- The Exile and Atton or the Disciple if the Exile's female, and Visas or the Handmaiden if he's Male.
** Any of the five possible player/party member pairings in ''VideoGame/JadeEmpire'' qualify, due to the EverybodyWasKungFuFighting theme of the setting.
** As above in ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights: Hordes of the Underdark'', with [[spoiler: the ghost of Aribeth]] or Nathyrra and your PC, who end up ''beating up [[spoiler: [[TheLegionsOfHell Mephistopheles]]]]''. Or Valen and the PC if the PC is female.
** ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights2'' (Though it was made by Obsidian) kind of precludes this with three of the four love interests over the course of the official campaign/Mask of the Betrayer arc being spellcasters (and Safiya being a literal SquishyWizard), but a female PC and Casavir qualify. A male PC and Elanee, if she is optimized for combat; or a female PC and Gann if he is optimized for combat both fit.
** ''Franchise/MassEffect'' gives us [[PlayerCharacter Shepard]] and any of his/her relationships. Of special note are: [[ActionGirl Ashley]][=/=]Shepard and [[MrFanservice Kaidan]][=/=]Shepard from the [[VideoGame/MassEffect1 first game]], and [[FemmeFatale Miranda]][=/=]Shepard and [[OneManArmy Garrus]][=/=]Shepard in the [[VideoGame/MassEffect2 second]].
*** The "Lair of the Shadow Broker" DLC can be played as Shepard and Liara getting back together - which, for them, involves [[spoiler: tracking down and killing one of the most feared men in the galaxy]]. It makes the squabbling in the Taxi ChaseScene all the more funny when [[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple the implications of a relationship gone awry are thrown in]].
*** If the player romanced neither, Garrus and Tali get together in 3.
*** There are a couple of aversions on Shepard's list of potential hookups, however. Kelly Chambers and Samantha Traynor are never seen going into combat, with Traynor in particular having a ''long'' list of reasons why she should stick to her day job rather than heading for the battlefield.
** Any romance option in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins''. Becoming a couple will help the characters level up.
*** Especially long-lasting example is Leliana: in the ''[[VideoGame/DragonAgeOriginsAwakening Awakening]]'' epilogue (only if you romanced her and survived until then, of course), it is mentioned that the Warden is still out there adventuring together with her, years after the events of the game.
*** In the third game a Romanced Leliana is still together with the Warden, just temporarily split by the current crisis. Similarly if a romanced Morrigan and the warden stayed together in ''Witch Hunt'' they've been raising a son together in the interim and she leaves to rejoin him at the end of the game. A romanced Zevran is mentioned to still be with the Warden on their current adventure.
** If romanced, [[spoiler: Alistair]] and the Female Human Noble can eventually become the ''[[RulingCouple King and Queen of Ferelden]]''.
*** In ''Inquisition'', it's noted that they're still a couple, but she's out searching for a cure for [[TheLastDance the Calling]], since it's been ten years since her Joining and Grey Wardens are all LivingOnBorrowedTime. He misses her, but understands that she's doing it for both their sakes, and supposes that ''someone'' has to rule the kingdom; can't have ''all'' your royalty out on a dangerous adventure, now, can you?
** Likewise any of the romance options in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'', plus Aveline and Guardsman Donnic if Hawke takes the time to help them get together.
** The trend continues in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition'', with every single one of your potential Love Interests joining you on the field at some point (with the exception of your ambassador [[SilkHidingSteel Josephine Montilyet]], who prefers [[BadassBureaucrat "niceness before knives"]]).
* ''VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou''
** Seeing as in the game's world any participant in the Reapers' Game needs a partner or they're powerless, it can be assumed that there have been quite a few Battle Couples out there.
** One other case stands out in particular: [[spoiler: Uzuki Yashiro and Koki Kariya. This Reaper duo fights you twice in the game and even have their own version of a light puck as well as a team attack that can render players that are under-leveled at those points in the game, screwed. Their relationship can also be considered {{Vitriolic|BestBuds}} if not an outright Battle Couple]].
** There's Neku and Shiki, who are treated as the star couple in all but name. Sure, they had a rocky start, but by the end of their chapter they've become an unofficial Battle Couple, such that their separation is a major tearjerker for either of them, while their reunion at the end of the game is all the more [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming heartwarming]].
* This appears to be the norm with most couples in ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'', even if the pair aren't romantically linked. If they are, expect bad things to happen by the end.
** [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil Chris ]][[VideoGame/ResidentEvil5 and Jill]] get around this by being too dense to realize they're a Battle Couple (though [[EveryoneCanSeeIt everyone]] ''[[EveryoneCanSeeIt else]]'' [[EveryoneCanSeeIt can tell]]), and [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil2 Leon]] [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil4 and Ada]] get away with it by being [[DatingCatwoman a different kind of couple.]]
* In ''[[VideoGame/ArmoredCore Armored Core 4/For Answer]]'', the player character of 4 (Unknown Lynx -- Pilot of White Glint in For Answer) and [[MissionControl Fiona Jarnefeldt]]. Considering that in at least one mission in 4 she pulls a "[[AlwaysSaveTheGirl Always Save the Guy]]", it's kind of obvious she has definite romantic feelings for him.
%%** The PlayerCharacter and Sumika from ''Armored Core: Project Phantasma''.
* On a similar note (with Female Character x {{AFGNCAAP}} forming this) there's Edge and Blaze in ''VideoGame/AceCombat5TheUnsungWar''.
** There's also the two-person Espada Squadron in ''Ace Combat Zero'', whose NumberTwo heavily implies that she was in a long-time relationship with Espada 1 at the time of their fateful encounter with the Galm Team.
** Even earlier, ''Ace Combat 04'' gave us Yellow 13 and Yellow 4, the only permanent members of their squadron. However, in their case, the romantic feelings were probably one-sided, since 13 seemed to have only seen a valued student and a trusted wingwoman in 4.
* The ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' series.
** Adell and Rozalin from ''VideoGame/Disgaea2CursedMemories''. They travel together because of a summoning spell and their chance to combo attack increases as their relationship grows deeper. By ''Disgaea 4'' [[EveryOneCanSeeIt they have a hard time convincing people]] they're ''not'' married.
** Almaz and Sapphire from ''VideoGame/Disgaea3AbsenceOfJustice''. Already a couple at the end of that game, ''Dark Hero Days'', the UpdatedRerelease of ''[[VideoGame/Disgaea2CursedMemories Disgaea 2]]'', reveals that they get married somewhere in the future. Just like Adell and Rozalin, their combo rate is capped at 99%.
** In ''VideoGame/Disgaea4APromiseUnforgotten'' and Disgaea D2 you can make a battle couple out of your units of either gender or species and have an in game bonus.
* ''VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles'': Welkin and Alicia. Expected from a franchise that's all about FireForgedFriends and there is a romantic spark between them.
%%** In ''VideoGame/ValkyriaChroniclesII'' there are some members of Class G that have a canonic relationship so they can qualify too.
* Maxim and Selan in ''VideoGame/LufiaIIRiseOfTheSinistrals''. The former is an adventurer and monster hunter who happens to be [[TheChosenOne the only one who can wield a legendary blade to slay evil super beings]] and the latter is the strongest [[MagicKnight warrior]] in her country. They hook up, get married halfway through the game and have an offspring. Even after their marriage, they are still adept at fighting and when evil arises again, they are more than ready to travel. It's established that their offsprings are heroes in their own game.
%%* ''VideoGame/PrinceOfPersia2008'' gives us the Prince and Elika.
* Just about every couple in the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' Series is this. But especially the ones that have a combo attack.
* ''VideoGame/CityOfHeroes'': Fusionette and Faultline. She's a mutant with a nuclear reactor for a heart, and he's the son of the guy who wrecked Overbrook. [[spoiler:It turns out the guy was BrainwashedAndCrazy.]] You run into them repeatedly in the Rikti War Zone with them kicking butt all the way.
** Manticore and Sister Psyche, teammates in the Freedom Phalanx who eventually got married...and had to fight off a horde of PC villains at their wedding.
%%* ''[[SpyroTheDragon The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon]]'' has Spyro and Cynder forming one of these.
* The various installments of ''VideoGame/DynastyWarriors'' gives us Lu Bu and Diao Chan, Cao Pi and Zhen Ji, [[UglyGuyHotWife Meng Huo and Zhu Rong]], Sun Ce and Da Qiao, Zhou Yu and Xiao Qiao, Liu Bei and Sun Shang Xiang, and Zhuge Liang and Yue Ying.
** ''Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce'' has several missions based entirely around fighting said Battle Couples.
%%** The ''Empires'' version of [=DW6=] allows you to pair ''everyone'' with ''everyone else''...as long as it's heterosexual.
%%** [=DW7=] adds Sima Zhao and Wang Yuanji, Sun Quan and Lian Shi, Guan Suo and Bao Sanniang.
%%* Trent and Juni from ''{{Freelancer}}''
%%* Ellis and Zoey in ''VideoGame/Left4Dead2'''s DLC The Passing.
* If you get the [[MultipleEndings best ending]] in ''VideoGame/CaveStory'', it becomes clear that there's a bond between [[spoiler:Quote and Curly Brace]]. It's not clear if it's platonic or romantic, but either way, it's strong as iron.
* This trope is the concept behind the ''VideoGame/SakuraWars'' series. The games are strategy-[=RPGs=] where the stronger the bond between you and your teammates is, the better you all perform in battle.
%%* In ''VideoGame/MedalOfHonor: Heroes'', Jimmy Patterson proposes to Manon Batiste.
* ''VideoGame/AtelierIrisEternalMana'' has Klein Kiesling and Lita Blanchimont as the Galgazit partners with an inversion of the usual hero and heroine state as Lita is a tank while Klein is a magician/healer.
%%** ''VideoGame/{{Atelier Iris 3|Grand Phantasm}}'' has Iris and Edge; before Nell comes in, that's it.
* Lololo and Lalala from the ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'' series. Justified in the [[Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa anime adaptation]], as [[spoiler: they're two halves of the same being]].
** Also from Kirby, [[spoiler: the final battle with 0[[superscript:2]] in ''Videogame/Kirby64", courtesy of Kirby and Ribbon.]]
* Issac and Jenna from ''VideoGame/GoldenSun'' married ''after'' the period they fought together. Considering how long it took for their kid to pop out, they probably [[CannotSpitItOut did not spit it out]] until some time after the first series ended.
* The ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'' likes this one, especially double-teamed with {{BST}}:
** [[BlackMagicianGirl Arche]] and [[TheLancer Chester]] from ''VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia'' are a bona-fide example, [[BelligerentSexualTension not that they'd ever admit it]]: the two of them are very {{tsun|dere}}[[BuffySpeak -y]].
** It's hinted at in ''[[VideoGame/TalesOfRebirth Rebirth]]'' that [[HotBlooded Tytree]] would like to become one with [[LadyOfBlackMagic Hilda]] [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial when he rather quickly denies having a crush on her]]. Unfortunately for him, she's not into younger men, so they evolve into FireForgedFriends.
** Lloyd and Colette from ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia'' in every ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'' spin off they appear in. Depending on RelationshipValues, they can become this in the original game, too; if not, Lloyd can score the trope with Raine or Sheena instead.
** In ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'', Luke and Tear become a SwordAndSorcery couple though they CannotSpitItOut [[spoiler: until the climax]]. Teasing them is the their companion's favorite pastime in the talk topics.
** Subverted with [[VigilanteMan Yuri]] and [[ActionGirl Judith]] from ''VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia''. It's clear from [[ShipTease their mutual flirting]] and [[TheTease Judith's love of teasing]] in-between lopping off {{Mook|s}} heads in Ghastfarost that they're at least physically attracted to each other, but Yuri's CelibateHero status prevents any kind of romance from forming.
** Shing[=/=][[DubNameChange Kor]] and Kohak[[DubNameChange (u)]] from ''VideoGame/TalesOfHearts'' definitely qualify. This also counts as a rare example where [[MoreDeadlyThanTheMale the woman in the duo]] is arguably the stronger of the two.
** A strange FoeYay example: [[TheBigGuy Alvin]] and [[spoiler:[[TheEvilGenius Presa]]]] are hinted at to have been this, or were on the verge of becoming so, in ''VideoGame/TalesOfXillia'', but their relationship descended into a [[BelligerentSexualTension love/hate]] one by the time of the game. [[spoiler:Jude and Milla]], however, are confirmed to have developed into one by the game's ending [[spoiler:although, sadly, they can't stay together and she has to go for an AlwaysWithYou option]].
* Hamil and Tart in ''[[VideoGame/TearsToTiara2 Tears to Tiara 2]]'': The former is TheHero and the latter is the ''Goddess of War''.
* Gil and Ki from ''The Return of Ishtar'', the sequel to ''VideoGame/TheTowerOfDruaga''.
** The two also appear as a battle couple in ''VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom''.
* VideoGame/ViewtifulJoe and Sexy Silvia are both {{Henshin Hero}}es.
* ''Franchise/FinalFantasy''
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV'': Cecil and Rosa, when Rosa is on the team. Married [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIVTheAfterYears in the sequel]] can remain this.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX''
*** Beatrix and Steiner [[spoiler: defending Alexandria together]] and later hooking up due to LoveLetterLunacy.
*** Freya's lover is Sir Fratley, and they have counted as a battle couple somewhere along the line.
*** When Zidane suffers his [[spoiler: HeroicBSOD in Castle Pandamonium]], millions worldwide could see him and Garnet becoming a Battle Couple to snap him out of it.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX''
*** Tidus and Yuna have a mutual BodyguardCrush.
*** Wakka and Lulu are married in the sequel but avert this trope. By that point both of them had retired from fighting.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII''
*** Balthier and Fran are implied to be an OutlawCouple.
*** In the sequel, Vaan and Panelo do likewise.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII'' has Vanille and Fang who have strong overtones of LesYay.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII-2'' is an aversion. While Serah and Noel fight together and grow close over their adventure they do not become a couple. They have other love interests in Snow and Yeul so one can say they are a Battle [[PlatonicLifePartners Platonic Partnership]].
%%* Citan and Yui of ''VideoGame/{{Xenogears}}''.
%%* ''XenobladeChronicles'' gives us [[TheMessiah Shulk]] and [[PluckyGirl Fiora]], [[spoiler:until she's killed.. [{{Cyborg}} Then she turns out to have been OnlyMostlyDead and they pick up where they left off.]]
* Fox [=McCloud=] and Krystal from ''StarFox.'' Shortly after Fox freed her and defeated [[VideoGame/StarFoxAdventures General Scales]], Krystal joined the Starfox team as one of Fox's wingmates, and the two began a relationship. In ''VideoGame/StarFoxCommand,'' said relationship hit a rough patch when Fox decided he didn't want Krystal in harm's way, though depending the [[MultipleEndings ending]] they patch things up. [[DownerEnding Or not]].
%%* Popolon and Aphrodite, the two player characters of ''MazeOfGalious'', are husband and wife.
%%* Eddie and Ophelia, in ''VideoGame/BrutalLegend''.
* ''VideoGame/{{Suikoden}}'' series :
** Hix and Tengaar (''VideoGame/SuikodenI'' and ''[[VideoGame/SuikodenII II]]''); both of them from the Warrior Village. In that village it's customary to name one's weapon after one's beloved.
%%** Lepant and Eileen (Suikoden 1),
%%**Freed and Yoshino Yamamoto (Suikoden 2)
** Ferid and Queen Arshtat Falenas (''VideoGame/SuikodenV''); they're a RulingCouple in a country where AsskickingEqualsAuthority. Otherwise they fit the SwordAndSorcerer trope.
* ''VideoGame/{{Gladius}}'' has a cup where you deploy 1 male (the only time a male unit must be deployed for their maleness) and 1 female unit and claims to be based on this. Nothing stops you from [[{{Twincest}} deploying the twins]] Ursula and Urlan beyond not complimenting each other (both being medium class units), presumably because its made by Creator/LucasArts.
* ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'': Link and Zelda have skirted this trope ever since ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]],'' where Zelda first assists Link's final battle against Ganon with combat advice and a stunning spell. In ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker Wind Waker]]'' and again in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess]]'', she becomes an active participant by firing light arrows. In ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks Spirit Tracks]]'', Zelda can possess monsters. However, it must be acknowledged that with Link being a HeroicMime, it's hard to pin down a defined relationship; in ''Spirit Tracks'', arguably the straightest example of this trope for these characters, the relationship between them is closer to PuppyLove.
* [[GermanicDepressives Sasha Nein]] and [[MamaBear Milla Vodello]] of ''VideoGame/{{Psychonauts}}'', a pair of psychic secret agents who work on the field as partners. Their personalities are as opposite as it gets, but they clearly think highly of each other and have a long, fond history together - that said whether or not they're an OfficialCouple is no more than implied (Milla has a Memory Vault showing pretty obviously that she's in love with Sasha, and he seems to reciprocate in it, at least to some extent, though other vaults in the game make it clear that such vaults' contents [[UnreliableNarrator aren't necessarily objective]]).
* ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaIIIDraculasCurse'' lets you (Trevor) have [[OfficialCouple Sypha]] as a partner from the possible three, [[SweetPollyOliver though he doesn't know she's a girl until the very end.]]
* ''VideoGame/NieR'' gradually upgrades [[spoiler:Nier and Kainé]] to one. However, like everything else in the game, [[TearJerker it can only end in tears]].
* ''VideoGame/RuneFactory3'' allows you to pick up a partner and go into battles. If your partner is your love interest or wife, it's this trope. Sonja and Aden from ''VideoGame/RuneFactoryOceans'' may or may not count, since they share the same body for a large amount of gameplay.
** Carries over into ''VideoGame/RuneFactory4''. You can later [[BadassFamily bring your child with you as well]].
* ''VideoGame/DragonQuestV'', after you marry a girl, she helps you in battles, [[StayInTheKitchen up until you reach Gotha.]]
* Although most of it takes place off screen, Altair and [[spoiler: Maria]] are said to be this in ''Franchise/AssassinsCreed: [[VideoGame/AssassinsCreedRevelations Revelations]]''
* In ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'' you can be part of one yourself. This is because you are able to recruit an NPC to fight with you and ask them if they want to marry you. Do both and you play this trope straight.
* Dart Feld and Shanna of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfDragoon'' are adventurers that can transform into Dragon knights. They become this trope after Shanna admits her feelings [[spoiler: at the end of disk two]].
* ''[[Franchise/ShinMegamiTenseiPersona Persona]]'': In ''VideoGame/Persona3'', ''VideoGame/Persona4'' and ''VideoGame/Persona5'', you can get a girl or boyfriend of the opposite sex, including your party members, resulting in you fighting enemies alongside your lover. The only exception is Junpei in ''Persona 3 Portable'', who can't be romanced due to [[spoiler:Chidori]] stealing his affections.
* There's two pairs running around in ''VideoGame/OdinSphere'', [[AntiHero Oswald]] and [[BadassPrincess Gwendolyn]], along with [[TheRedMage Velvet]] and [[BeautyToBeast Cornelius]].
* Nate and Elena, the OfficialCouple of the ''VideoGame/{{Uncharted}}'' series, get together while fighting off an army of {{Mooks}} and hunting for El Dorato on an [[TitleDrop uncharted]] island, which set the tone for their whole relationship. ''Uncharted 2: Among Thieves'' briefly has Nate and Chloe, during one of his frequent break-ups with Elena.
* ''VideoGame/StarCraft''
** Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan are this in the [[VideoGame/StarcraftI first campaign]] and played for drama when Kerrigan [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness is left behind]] by [[BadBoss Arcturus Mensgk]], infested by the [[HordeOfAlienLocusts Zerg]] and turned into the [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Queen of Blades]]. By the end of the Extension, she has become one of the major {{Big Bad}}s, and has caused so much slaughter that Jim swears to kill her.
** ''VideoGame/{{StarCraft II}}'' continues the story. After despairing for years on his guilt about what happened to Kerrigan, Raynor finally succeeds to de-infest her and bring her back to her original personality... only for her to turn herself back into a Zerg ''willingly'' so she can go on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge against Mensgk. While she retains control this time, and even saves him, he is understandably horrified by what she has done and put an end to their relationship. [[spoiler:Eventually he realizes Kerrigan is no longer the blood-thirsty monster she was as the original Queen of Blades, and comes to save her in the final confrontation with Mensgk.]] By the end of the game, Raynor and Kerrigan are on good terms again, and while they cannot stay together due to consequence, they clearly still love each other.
* Because of the gameplay of ''VideoGame/ProjectXZone'', the playable characters are by default ''paired'' with each other. Among them that do play it straight however are [[VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom Reiji and Xiaomu]], [[VideoGame/EndlessFrontier Haken and Kaguya]], [[VideoGame/SakuraWars Ichiro and Sakura]], [[VideoGame/ShiningForce Touma and Cyrille]], [[VideoGame/DotHackR1Games Kite and Black Rose]], and [[VideoGame/ValkyriaChroniclesIII Kurt and Riela]]. The rest are either PlatonicLifePartners, HeterosexualLifePartners, and in a few cases, ironic pairings.
* The SupportingProtagonist and his fiance in ''VideoGame/TimeAndEternity'' are this, despite the fact that he's in the body of a mini-drake for most of the game.
* ''VideoGame/AgarestSenki'': Harem + Hero + relationship values = this trope.
* From ''VideoGame/MonsterHunter'', the flying wyverns Rathian and Rathalos are implied to operate like this. They're actually the female and male of the same species, and their descriptions often refer to them hunting together as a couple. There are even a few missions that pit players against a Rathian and Rathalos together.
* Orcs in ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft'' hold this as an ideal. In particular, in ''Warlords of Draenor'', we are introduced to Durotan and Draka, the orcs who would become Thrall's parents. If the two aren't side by side in battle it's only because one is defending the homefront while the other goes out on a mission. In an in-game conversation during the Frostfire Ridge quests, Draka is shocked that Thrall insisted his own mate Aggra StayInTheKitchen rather than be at his side in war, where she insists it's ''most'' important to have your family by you. Aggra later appears in Nagrand, having set Thrall straight on that point herself.
** And let's not forget the Night Elf leaders, Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind.
* ''VideoGame/SandsOfDestruction'': Kyrie and Morte become one about halfway through the game. He dislikes fighting and fell in LoveAtFirstSight, while she's a BloodKnight and takes a while to realize that, yes, he's more important to her than just another tool in the World Annihilation Front box.
* There's more than one in ''Franchise/MortalKombat'', with the most glaring examples being Liu Kang and Princess Kitana (who mix it with StarCrossedLovers [[spoiler: until ''X'', when they become the Netherrealm's RulingCouple]]) and later [[spoiler: Kenshi's son]] Takeda and Jax's daughter Jacqueline "Jacqi" Briggs in ''VideoGame/MortalKombatX'' (who rescue each other mutually several times in the story).
-->'''Ferra:''' Pretty boy.\\
'''Takeda:''' Sorry, I have a girlfriend.
* The second boss of ''VideoGame/NinjaBaseballBatman'', Mad Lax, could count as this, as driving the jeep are two anthropomorphic baseballs, one with a bow on her head, implying the two are a couple.
* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'':
** Two of the Royal Guard members you have to fend off are a married couple, Dogamy and Dogaressa. They have matching his-and-hers sentry stations -- labeled with actual signs saying "His" and "Hers" -- and they keep touching noses and "saying sickly sweet things to each other", as the flavor text states, ''while'' they fight you.
** Then there's the team of RG 01 and RG 02, who have UnresolvedSexualTension to spare and can be persuaded to admit their feelings for each other.
* [[NotBloodSiblings Estelle and Joshua Bright]] from ''VideoGames/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky''. Both are trained by their father [[OneManArmy Cassius Bright]], a living legend among Bracers and Liberlian military alike so despite being Junior Bracers, they have good combat capabilities, Joshua especially since he's actually [[spoiler:A high-ranked "trained" assassin from a secret organization]]. They hook up and [[WalkingTheEarth travel to various Bracer branches in Zemuria to help people and train themselves]] by the end of the second game. Their status as a couple is further cemented at VideoGame/ZeroNoKiseki by already mastering combination craft, a feat [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration achieved by people with deep bonds with each other]].

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* If lawyering counts as combat (which in ''Franchise/AceAttorney'', it [[MundaneMadeAwesome practically does]]), [[spoiler: Mia Fey and Diego]].
* ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'':
** Pictured above are Saber and Shirou Emiya. They are a Master and Servant fighting in the Holy Grail War. [[spoiler:A BittersweetEnding ensues where they can't be together because Saber is being called back to her time... Unless one's playing the [[UsefulNotes/PlayStation2 PS2]] version (Or a heavily patched PC version) that includes an epilogue after attaining 100% completion where, after a lifetime of Shirou pursuing Saber and Saber waiting for Shirou, they attain a miracle and are truly reunited in Avalon.]]
** Rin and Shirou during the Unlimited Blade Works path. Saber backs them up as often as they go it alone and considering [[BiTheWay Rin's preferences]] [[spoiler: and one of the endings]]...perhaps a rare example of a Battle OT3?
** Caster and her Master [[spoiler:Souchirou Kuzuki]] form a villainous version of this. She does the high speed spellcasting, her EmpoweredBadassNormal Master handles close-range physical combat and shields her.
* ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry'': After the release of ''Dawn of the golden witch'', it's safe to call [[spoiler:Battler and Beatrice]] one of the most straightforward examples of this to show up there. There's a pretty epic scene in which they shoot down [[spoiler:Erika]], pulling the trigger of the gun together.
* Depending on how you play ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}'', BadassNormal KnifeNut Shiki Tohno can play the trope straight with either Arcueid Brunestud (a BadassPrincess and FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire who is ReallySevenHundredYearsOld) or Ciel (ChurchMilitant ActionGirl [[spoiler: and one of Roa's invernations, which makes her [[{{Immortality}} immortal]]]].)
* Hiyoko and Yuuya, at the end of Yuuya's route in ''VisualNovel/HatofulBoyfriend''. Gradually over his route Hiyoko witnesses how shady and dangerous his life is, ignores his ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies, and they become a pair of spies fighting an "endless battle for justice behind the frail curtain of society".

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* ''Webcomic/AntiBunny'' has Mors and Knell who are also [[spoiler: Superhero Nailbat, and former supervillain Furi, who become a married pair of badasses]].
%%* Mentl and Zona in ''Webcomic/TheChallengesOfZona''. Also Zona's parents Zonn and Ipola.
* Ellen and Nanase from ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'', were both involved in the fight with the Omega Goo and both fought against Vlad during the battle at The Nest. Although they haven't been seen to fight any battles together since their RelationshipUpgrade, they have been featured fighting together in at least [[http://www.egscomics.com/sketchbook/?date=2012-12-24 one]] sketchbook strip and they like to [[http://www.egscomics.com/sketchbook/?date=2012-12-24 play multiplayer video games]] where they fight side by side. Also, they might have had to fight some of the perpetrators of the {{Scooby Doo Hoax}}es that [[http://www.egscomics.com/?date=2013-04-30 they have foiled]].
** As of the Family Tree story arc, they are fighting together.
* ''Webcomic/{{Fans}}'' gives us Will and Shanna, and (in the Badass Threesome category), Rikk, Rumy and Ally.
-->'''Rikk''': I've spent the last five years with two remarkable women. One of them is one of the toughest, cleverest fighters I've ever seen anywhere. [[BaitAndSwitchComparison The other is Rumiko Tanaka Oberf!]]
%%* Bernadette and Maytag from ''Webcomic/{{Flipside}}''.
* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'' has several:
** Early on in the comic, even though we're not sure if they're an [[SlapSlapKiss 'official' official couple]] Gil and Agatha definitely make this work during the slaver wasps' invasion of Castle Wulfenbach.
** Later on, given events in Castle Heterodyne, we have a battle ''threesome''. Agatha cares deeply for both Gil and Tarvek, and [[FoeYay when they're not trying to kill each other]] they do actually get along fairly well with each other too.
** BadassPrincess Zeetha and BadassNormal [[spoiler:(or maybe not so normal)]] Airman Higgs have been this ever since [[DistractedByTheSexy hooking up]] in the middle of a war over mutual admiration of each other's fighting skills.
%%* Winter and Otra as well as Officer Hipbone and Police Guy from ''Webcomic/{{Girly}}''.
%%* Dan and Mitzi [=McNinja=] of ''WebComic/TheAdventuresOfDrMcNinja''.
* ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick''
** Elan and Hailey from the Order are a general teamwork couple during their adventurer raids. After Elan literally TookALevelInBadass by becoming a [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0390.html Dashing Swordsman]] they form a classic GuysSmashGirlsShoot dynamic.
** Elan's EvilTwin Nale also forms one with Sabine, a combat Succubus. They once had a lover's quarrel during an EvilPlan because Nale feared that Sabine had a crush on Elan. She reassures him and they go back to committing evil together.
** [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0508.html Daigo and Kazumi]] are both soldiers in the Azure City army. They hooked up while defending the city from a hobogoblin invasion. Then Kazumi pulled way ahead of Daigo on the awesome scale when she turned into a PregnantBadass.
* Leo/Jason and Tigris/Kira from ''WebComic/{{Panthera}}''. They met by being the first two students to become elemental-powered panthers designed to fight a secret government project. They've had spats since Jason brought his little sister into the club, though.
* Torg and Zoe from ''Webcomic/SluggyFreelance'' have a Battle Couple moment in [[http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=990725 this]] strip. True, they're not actually a ''couple'', but Torg's crush on Zoe does develop not long after this storyline.
* ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'' has several, mostly among the [[HumanoidAliens Trolls]].
** RebelliousPrincess Feferi Peixes and PlayfulHacker Sollux Captor.
** AdventurerArchaeologist Jake English and BadassGay Dirk Strider.
** While they're not shown ''in'' battle, "[S] Descend" implies this of [[AlcoholicParent Mom Lalonde]] and [[DotingParent Dad Egbert]]. Disregarding this, they are [[OfficialCouple definitely a couple]] and DEFINITELY good at battling.
%%** [[StringyHairedGhostGirl Aradia Megido]] and [[DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength Equius Zahhak]] (Sollux and Aradia appear to have been a couple [[BackFromTheDead before she died]], but never ''in battle'').
%%** [[PerpetualFrowner Karkat]] [[HairTriggerTemper Vantas]] and [[HandicappedBadass Terezi Pyrope]], who have massive amounts of [[UnresolvedSexualTension UST]] despite never officially being together.
%%** [[IneffectualLoner Davesprite]] and [[GenkiGirl Jade Harley]].
%%* [[TheCaptain Milo]] and [[NumberTwo Jenny]] in ''Webcomic/TheZombieHunters''.
%%* The title characters of AGirlAndHerFed.

* Webcomic/{{Spinnerette}} and Mecha Maid, both super heroes, are a lesbian example.
* ''Webcomic/CommanderKitty'' has veteran spacers Ace and Freeda, [[http://www.commanderkitty.com/2011/10/02/were-saved/ holding hands and kicking ass together]].
* Night and Lady Liberty of ''Webcomic/{{Supermom}}'' routinely fight crime together. They have [[http://www.oursupermom.com/comic/our-super-mom-interlude-6-the-mission-9/ since married]] and their honeymoon consists of [[http://www.oursupermom.com/comic/our-super-mom-interlude-6-the-mission-12/ more crimefighting across the country]].
* ''Webcomic/OurLittleAdventure'' has Julie and Lenny Magilligan, happily married and kicking ass with family and friends (Julie's sister Angelika, and her bitter friend Rocky).
* ''Webcomic/ZebraGirl'': Jack and Tomie.

[[folder:Web Original]]
%%* ''RedPandaAdventures'' has [[spoiler:Kit and The Red Panda]].
* ''WebOriginal/ProtectorsOfThePlotContinuum'' Any agent pair that gets in a relationship will become this by default.
* Roleplay/DCNation is fond of this trope, and sometimes dovetails it with BadassFamily. Sand and Merlynne (and, previously, Merlynne and Caleb); Green Shield and Franchise/GreenLantern Travis Grey; Changeling/Beastboy and Fauna...
* The Roleplay/GlobalGuardiansPBEMUniverse featured
** On the hero side, Yin and Yang, a husband-and-wife team of crimefighting martial artists operating out of San Francisco.
** On the villain side, there was Simon Bar Sinister and Penny Dreadful, a [[SiblingTeam brother-and-sister]] team of psychopaths who were [[BrotherSisterIncest notorious for being romantic with each other]] in the middle of their crimes.
* ''WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall'': Linkara and Iron Liz have beaten up {{Mooks}} together.
* ''Machinima/RedVsBlue''
** Church and Tex; it's clear they both still feelings for each other no matter how many insults they toss back and forth. Probably more feelings from Church than Tex as her emotions seems to have taken a beating during her time as a Freelancer paired with a psychotic AxCrazy AI. Later seasons reveal it's more a case of her emotions taking a beating during her time as [[spoiler:an AI paired with a psychotic AxCrazy AI]]. Just to be pedantic.
** Season 10 gives us a straighter example in [[spoiler:the Insurrectionist Leader and CT, who give Tex and Carolina a good fight (even though CT was mortally wounded by Tex)]].
%%* In ''Literature/TrintonChronicles'' we have Jay & Sabella.
%%* Almost all couples in ''Literature/ChaosFighters'' are battle couples. This is even lampshaded in ''Route of Earth'' and ''Chemical Siege''.
* Literature/WhateleyUniverse examples: the superheroes the Mystic Six were three Battle Couples, until Cirque died. The other two couples are still together, although nominally retired. Then there's Pendragon and Gloriana, the leaders of the Future Superheroes of America at the school.
** It is also mentioned in passing that the Winter Session special topics course "Powers Integration[[note]]a course for learning to combine two different sets of powers effectively[[/note]]" is often considered the 'cheap date class', because couples who are looking to be heroes (or villains) together when they graduate often take it as a way to practice (and stay close) together. It is also mentioned that a breakup in the middle of the course can make things rather sticky, though Pendragon and Gloriana seem to have done fine in it...
* The [[Creator/FrederatorStudios Cartoon Hangover]] short ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Siiov36YXs Story War]]'' has Goblin and Fairy, who track down and fight Medusa and Gremlin side by side. When Goblin gets turned to stone by Medusa, Fairy brings him back with a kiss, prompting a declaration of ThePowerOfLove from Goblin.
* ''Literature/{{Worm}}'':
** Skitter and Grue, whose powers (he generates darkness, she can use her insect control to tell where objects and people are in his darkness) work together to make them a terrifying combination.
** Later, there's [[RoboShip Dragon and Defiant,]] [[spoiler:the ArtificialIntelligence that is]] the world's premier [[GadgeteerGenius Tinker]] and her [[spoiler:cyborg]] Tinker boyfriend.
* ''Roleplay/STOForumVersusThreadRP'': {{Defied|Trope}} [[http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=18935861#post18935861 after Eleya and Kang travel their first hundred klicks.]]

* Lord Sylas Briarwood and Lady Delilah Briarwood from ''Webvideo/CriticalRole''. They're both quite powerful, and fittingly so considering they the big bads of the Whitestone Arc.
** Also Vax'ildan and Keyleth of Vox Machina, even though they're not "together". [[spoiler:Becomes official starting in Episode 65, though.]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'':
** In the original cartoon, we have the male and female Autobots. Given that they're soldiers and there's a war going on, it comes with the territory.
** In Transformers: Beast Wars, Blackarachnia and Silverbolt and Airazor and Tigatron are this. The former flirted while fighting each other and then she came over to his side. The latter spent quality time together during patrols in the wilderness. In Transformers: Beast Machines there's Strika and Obsidian.
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'':
** Billy and Canyon were shown to be this in the episode "Billy's Bucket List". Finn and Flame Princess almost became like this in the episode "Vault of Bones", but near the end when Flame Princess suggests going on a dungeon crawl again some time, Finn replies "Maybe we should just go to a farmer's market next time".
* ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'':
** Green Lantern and Hawkgirl discuss dinner plans while on patrols or stake outs. In fact, Hawkgirl's idea of a date is starting bar fights.
** Defied example; to Franchise/WonderWoman's dismay, ''not'' her and Batman. The Dark Knight has gone on record saying he doesn't like romance between team members.
** ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueUnlimited''
*** Black Canary and Green Arrow; they fight together and she will occasionally [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar be seen at his house, in the morning, in pajamas....]]
*** Huntress and ComicBook/TheQuestion; she provides the muscle while he does his hacking / investigating thing. On one such occasion, she complained that they spent more time together on missions than dates.
*** Another defied example: to Hawkman's dismay, ''not'' him and Hawkgirl. She thought he was LovingAShadow because of an encounter with an overpowering HeartDrive.
*** Green Lantern and ''Comicbook/{{Vixen}}'', another member of league that Jon started dating after the drama with Hawk Girl.
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'':
** Aang and Katara are easily this; although they don't officially become a couple [[spoiler: until the final scene of the series proper]], the amount of times they've fought together side-by-side, saved each other, fought alongside the rest of their TrueCompanions, fought the same battle separately or independently, did other war-related stuff together, trained together, supported each other and, generally just went through Aang's entire journey of ending a hundred-year war together [[spoiler:before that point]], can at least be tallied up to half the number of episodes in the series (61). [[spoiler:And that's not even counting the comics.]]
** Sokka and Suki have this as CharacterDevelopment. When they first met, neither took the other seriously as a warrior; him because she was a girl and her because he lacked training. On their second meeting, Sokka was super overprotective of her because of what happened to Yue. On their third meeting, both of them have matured enough to fight as equals, and have shared several kisses.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'':
** Korra and Mako become this by the end of season one, with 'Endgame' showing off this trope beautifully in tagteam against Amon. Although the battle comes just before the couple, the feelings were already on the table. Subverted in that they don't ''remain'' a couple, as they decide to stay as JustFriends in season 2.
** Similarly Korra and [[spoiler:[[BiTheWay Asami]]]] only get together at the {{Grand Finale}}, having already fought together. Where their relationship transitioned from [[RomanticTwoGirlFriendship friendship]] to [[RelationShipUpgrade romantic]] is a bit more complicated.
** Varrick and Zhu Li, briefly. Though they've mostly worked [[TheSmartGuy on the tech side of things]], they go into the field against [[spoiler:Kuvira's giant mech]] right after he proposes to her.
---> '''Varrick:''' Now let's go attach these barely functioning rust buckets to a giant killer smashing machine!
---> '''Zhu Li:''' It's exactly how I always pictured our engagement!
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'': Robin and Starfire have the protectiveness and combos (see image links) but are stuck in the SheIsNotMyGirlfriend stage until the ''[[WesternAnimation/TeenTitansTroubleInTokyo Trouble in Tokyo]]'' movie.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'':
** Obi-Wan and Satine ([[BackToBackBadasses at their best!]])
** Anakin and Padme ([[GuysSmashGirlsShoot of course]])
** [[spoiler:[[FoeYay Obi-Wan and Asajj Ventress]]]]
* ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'':
** Miss Martian and Lagoon Boy take water based missions together. The latter enjoys all this time alone with his 'angelfish'. Miss Martian's previous boyfriend, Superboy, was pissed off by her [[PayEvilUntoEvil brutal battle tactics]] and broke off their relationship.
** Kid Flash and Artemis were this for a while. Then they became {{Retired Badass}}es. [[spoiler: Then they treat a save-the-world mission in Paris like a date.]]
** Red Arrow and Cheshire are married after the TimeSkip. They have a BackToBackBadasses [[BadassAndBaby with a baby]] scene while infiltrating one of The Light's bases.
** Bumblebee and Guardian II; adding 'battle' to their 'couple' improved their relationship because they spent more time together.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{WITCH}}'' gives us BadassNormal Caleb and the Guardian of Earth Cornelia. Around the end of the series they're followed by [[spoiler: Will and her boyfriend Matt, who gets upgraded from UnderstandingBoyfriend to her fighting partner when he gains access to the powers once held only by his SuperpoweredEvilSide]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'' has The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend, later known as Dr. Mrs. The Monarch. Although most of the time Dr. Girlfriend is shown as far more capable than her leader/boyfriend/husband, when it comes to straight fighting they complement each other well.
* Enzo and [=AndrAIa=] of ''WesternAnimation/ReBoot'''s second season. On the rare ocassion that they aren't busting viruses or traveling the Net va Game Cubes, they can be seen on a date.
%%* The title characters from ''DelilahAndJulius''.
* Kevin and Gwen from ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce''. If someone touches one of them, the other will either run to their side or beat up the bad guy (usually then running to the other's side anyway).
%%* In ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers'', Optimus Prime and Elita One. Also, Ironhide and Chromia. Arcee does this with Springer in the cartoon, Bumblebee in the DP comics, and was intended to have/is hinted at having had this with Hot Rod.
%%** Arcee and Cliffjumper may have been this in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime''.
%%* Silverbolt and Blackarachnia in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars/[[WesternAnimation/BeastMachines Machines]]''. Obsidian and Strika are a villainous version.
* WesternAnimation/KimPossible and Ron Stoppable. He starts out as her sidekick, but they upgrade to an actual couple and he gains his Monkey Kung-fu powers. In the finale, [[spoiler: he ends up saving the world]] when they face an alien battle couple. In the words of Shego, "The sidekick stepped up!", indeed.
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGalaxyRangers'': They may not have done much about it in the series, but Niko and Shane qualify. Even [[WordOfGod the series creator]] admits he planned to marry them off!
* ''WesternAnimation/DaveTheBarbarian'': The parents choosing to be a Battle Couple sets up the premise of the series. They went off on a world tour to smite evil and left their daughter, Candance in charge of the kingdom.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' has [[MagicKnight Shining Armor]] and [[BadassPrincess Princess Cadance]]. Shining Armor is a BarrierWarrior powerful enough to surround the entire city of Canterlot in a forcefield and is captain of the Royal Guard. Princess Cadance is a LoveGoddess (which [[HeartIsAnAwesomePower is a lot more badass than it sounds]]). By combining their magic, they kick [[BigBad Queen Chrysalis]] and her entire army clear out of Equestria with a HeartBeatDown ''on the day of their own wedding''. A couple of episodes later, both unable to use their magic, they still help save the Crystal Empire from [[BigBad King Sombra]] with a well-executed FastballSpecial.
* Wilhelm and Vito from the student film ''WesternAnimation/TalesOfAlethrion'' count as this, representing the classic SwordAndSorcerer.
* ''WesternAnimation/SuperRobotMonkeyTeamHyperforceGo'':
** Downplayed with KidHero Chiro and RobotGirl Jinmay. They never get to fight together, but they are a couple since the very first episode and ever since Jinmay TookALevelInBadass at the beginning of Season 3, they surely are protective of each other.
** AcePilot Sprx and PintSizedPowerhouse Nova. They usually fight side-by-side, have a few battle combos and if you hurt one of them, the other will kick your ass.
* ''WesternAnimation/RoswellConspiracies'': Nick Logan and his banshee partner, Sh'lainn Blaze, fight beside each other much of the time and by the end of the series have become a couple.
* Jack and Maddie Fenton on ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'' are ghost-hunters who fight side-by-side when they aren't at home raising their two children together.
* On ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama,'' in the first episode after [[AwesomeAussie Jasmine]] and [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass Shawn]] hook up, they have to work together to infiltrate the island's secret control center. Their first kiss comes while dodging security lasers, and she's practically swooning when she watches him take out an entire army of [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot "zombie" robotic reality hosts]].
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'':
** Steven and Connie promise to be there to protect each other when danger comes. This is more evident in "Sworn to the Sword" where they both use their shield and sword skills effectively against several Holo-Pearls and even Pearl herself. This continues in "Nightmare Hospital", where they dispatch two gem mutants in a matter of seconds. In "Crack the Whip" they follow Ruby and Sapphire's example [[spoiler:by fusing into Stevonnie to fight Jasper.]]
** Ruby and Sapphire are a DiscountLesbians example. Their method of fighting is to do so while [[spoiler: [[FusionDance fused together as Garnet]]]].
* ''WesternAnimation/AladdinTheSeries'' turns Aladdin's fiancee Princess Jasmine into a full-blown ActionGirl, making them a perfect example of a Battle Couple within a team of heroes.
* [[SwissArmyWeapon Zeke]] and [[FemmeFatale Josephine]] Clench from ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'' are a bit of a subversion in that they ''used'' to be this, at least until Zeke [[CrowningMomentOfFunny filed a restraining order against her]]. They ''do'' team up once more against Jack when they both realize alone they can't hope to beat him, and actually make such a formidable team that they '''[[NearVillainVictory would have won]]''' had Josephine not gone back to her old tricks and betrayed Zeke, giving Jack the chance to escape and throw them from the train.
** Season five has Jack end up in a BattleCouple relationship himself, with [[spoiler:Ashi, the last surviving Daughter of Aku]]. Their RelationshipUpgrade even occurs right after an intense monster fight in episode XCIX.

[[folder:Real Life]]
* In ancient Greece, Plato wrote about this sort of thing in ''Literature/{{Symposium}}''. Below is one example of the trope in action.
** During its hegemony in the 4th century BC, the Greek city-state of Thebes had an elite unit called the Sacred Band consisting of 150 soldiers, each paired with his adolescent gay lover. After the battle in which he defeated them, [[WorthyOpponent Philip II of Macedon raised a monument in their honour and admonished "no one to speak ill of these heroes"]].
%%* French resistants Lucie and Raymond Aubrac.
* The US Army tries to keep soldiers who are married to one another in the same unit (or at least the same post) and lets them share a room if they are deployed together.
* Italian [[TheStrategist strategist]] Giuseppe Garibaldi and his [[ActionGirl wife]] Anita Garibaldi: fought in three wars and had four kids together.
* Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon (the two kingdoms that formed what is now Spain). Married at 17 despite the opposition of Isabella's brother and king, then went on to win a civil war, finish the Reconquista, fund Columbus's voyages to the Americas, and secure Spanish dominance over Italy and the western Mediterranean.
* In his book ''The Greatest Battle'' (on the Battle for Moscow in UsefulNotes/WorldWarII) Andrew Nagorski interviewed two former members of an NKVD special forces unit who were ordered to go UndercoverAsLovers (in the belief that a married couple would draw less attention) who, despite their initial awkwardness, ended up getting married for real.
* Ivan and Aleksandra Boiko, driver and commander respectively of the [[MightyGlacier IS-2 heavy tank]] ''[[ICallItVera Kolyma]]'' of the 48th independent Guards heavy armour regiment, were married before they got to drive the tank ''they had paid for''.
* King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in UsefulNotes/WorldWarII. When someone suggested that the princesses should be evacuated to Canada, the Queen said: "The children won't go without me. I won't leave the King. [[BadassBoast And the King will never leave."]]
* William Hays and his wife Mary Ludwig, also known as "Molly Pitcher", who took her husband's place at a gun when he fell.
* While the eighteenth century military was male-dominated this was an unofficial institution of eighteenth century armed forces. {{Camp follower}}s, while they did include prostitutes, also included the wives of servicemen (in the Royal Navy prostitutes were more likely in port; after all their profession didn't pay enough to go to sea to practice it). Officially they were disliked by officers but they would often look the other way and service wives could provide [[TheMedic useful services]]. In the British Army it was customary to cast lots for which of the soldier's wives would go with their husbands on campaign. In the Royal Navy when the [[DrillSergeantNasty chief]] came through to wake up sailors he would shout, "show a leg". If it was hairy the chief would roust the leg's possessor out of bed, and if it wasn't the leg's owner was assumed to be female.
* Robert Guiscard, Norman king of Sicily and his wife, Sichelgaita, the Lombard queen of Apulia. They won against the Byzantine army of Alexios Komnenos in Durrazzo 1081, commanding the Norman army together. [[spoiler:At one time the Normans were repulsed and about to rout. Sichelgaita rode ahead the army, undressing herself and yelling naked: "Are you men or maidens? Follow me!"]] Anna Komnena, the Byzantine historian, compared Sichelgaita "like the Amazons of the old".
%%* Sir Thomas and Lady Katherine Cochrane, a British Battle Couple in the early nineteenth century.
* Common enough among Scythians to the point of being a possible origin of the Amazons; the women rode, fought alongside and even [[{{Bifauxnen}} dressed]] like their husbands and [[TogetherInDeath were buried together in the same graves.]]
* Same sex relations weren't accepted in Japan of old unless they were this trope and they still had to be discreet about it.
* A common downplayed version was when the women were expected to [[MinoredInAsskicking Minor In Asskicking]] while the men were on campaign. This was known in Japan where women from samurai families trained to protect their homes, families, honor and [[UnusualEuphemism exclusivity]] with the ''Naginata'' ([[NaginatasAreFeminine sort of like a halberd]]). In Europe, noblewomen were sometimes in charge of castles and acted as [[TheConsigliere chief of staff]] during a campaign; though that is closer to RulingCouple it had military aspects. Viking women regularly owned saxes, which were both a peaceful and warlike tool. As American folklore remembers, frontierswomen could, in a pinch, handle a rifle if their cabin was attacked.
* When a city was under attack, historically, it was common for everyone to fight. Yes that means [[OldMaster absolutely]] [[ChildSoldiers everybody]]. Married couples fighting together in some capacity was a common sight. One reason sieges were so disliked was for that reason.
