* ''DragonQuest'' isn't exactly known for its {{BFS}}s, but in [[VideoGame/DragonQuestIX the ninth installment]], there's a [[PunnyName Co-op]] [[LimitBreak de' Grace]] called Quadraslash. What does it do? Well, firstly, all four party members shoot a [[LightningCanDoAnything magical lightning bolt]] into the sky. Where they connect, there summons an absolutely '''''GINORMOUS''''' sword which then drops on the opponent's head!

** Asuna's classmate Kaede is a semi-closeted {{Ninja}} whose signature weapon is a four-pointed Big '' FuumaShuriken''[[hottip:* :lit. Wind Demon Shuriken]] which is considerably wider from tip to tip than she is tall[[hottip:* :[[HugeSchoolgirl And she's almost six feet tall]]]]. Also, she sometimes seems to pull it [[{{Hammerspace}} out of nowhere]][[hottip:* :WordOfGod is that it splits into four sections, which she stacks and carries on her back]].

* The EmpathicWeapon belonging to Fuu of ''MagicKnightRayearth''. It's bigger than she is (most pictures of her with it cuts off) and weighs a ton in anyone else's hands -- only her wind magic allows her to carry it.
** And Ferio's sword is also taller than he is.

* Brioche Dalkian of the Biscotti Republic Omitsu Squad is shown to have one in the second season of Anime/DogDays. It's difficult to estimate the size of it as we never see all of it on screen at once. The best estimate of it size come from [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Demon Void Fang]] standing tall behind a line of hills, about a mile over said hills. [[OhCrap Then she attacks with it.]]

* Although not technically a sword (or even necessarily a melee weapon) and not generally large, I think [[{{MAR}} Bappo]] qualifies for this trope, he is first used as a ball on a chain, then the hammer enlarges. When he starts to use it correctly, it first becomes a hammer as his hand, and can also change to a dagger. The other uses of it are missile or summons though. Ginta is one of two shown to be able to use it (the other is the big bad) and the first person to meet him is unable to carry the weight. Bappo is also intelligent and prefers Ginta to use his strength, eventually.

* Common in the later ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' games. The most well-known video game example is Cloud's Buster Sword from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'', and the [[KatanasAreJustBetter Masamune]] used by ArchEnemy and BigBad Sephiroth. The Buster Sword is simply a really big sword, while the Masamune is a six-foot katana that aside from length has normal proportions.

** The sequel features the greatsword wielded by Caius Ballad which looks like a giant, ratty, metal feather.

* ''ComicBook/{{New 52}}: ''ComicBook/{{Deathstroke}}'' has a giant sword that is almost never entirely on panel.

* The [[New52 rebooted]] Deathstroke the Terminator has a giant sword that is almost never entirely on panel.

* [[OurAngelsAreDifferent Satan]] in ''SixSixSixSatan/O-Parts Hunter'' eventually carries a Big Effin' Boomerang/Ninja Star whose size and amount of damage it can inflict is proportional to the fear and hate a person has. Thus to a fearful mook the thing ''fills the entire sky'' while to a pure-hearted angel it's a useless ring of metal (unfortunately the angel works for the [[BigBad bad guys]]).

* The Medicine Seller from ''{{Mononoke}}'' has a sword that gets pretty huge under the right circumstances.

* In ''KirbysReturnToDreamLand'', Kirby can use a [[LimitBreak Super Ability]] called Ultra Sword that lets him grow his sword to massive proportions to cleave enemies and terrain.

** Ryusei Date's mechs are also more examples of Banpresto's obsesion with this troupe. Both the SRX and Banpreios have a massive sword, that is, in fact, bigger than Sanger's. Banpreios' [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8bqGcNvxMs SPLITS OPEN and CAN CUT THROUGH DIMENSIONS]]. Even R1 fits into this troupe, its final attack, T-Link Sword, shoots a giant glowing sword at the enemy, which also fits under ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks.

*** For those who aren't familiar with the franchise: that katana is more than eight times as long as the Red Frame's height, and unlike many of the examples on this page, it's not a beam weapon but an actual metal sword.

*** Episode 17 of the second season contained one of the largest examples of this trope in Fiction: the Raiser Sword. [[spoiler:00 Raiser in [[SuperMode Trans-Am mode]] was able to create a truly MASSIVE Beam Sabre capable of reaching up to orbit to slice in half the [[KillSat Momento Mori]] while the 00 Raiser is at the edge of the Atmosphere. [[AllThereInTheManual According to the background material]] the Momento Mori is on an orbital ring 10,000 kilometers above the Earth's surface.]]

** The [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam V2 Gundam]] pulled this as well in its final battle, though the saber didn't grow in width, just in length.

* The entire point of the Flash game ''GinormoSword''. If you can't hit the entire screen with your sword, you haven't done enough LevelGrinding.

** Kanzaki has one as well though Nanasen is "only" a 2m long katana.

** Also notable is Tryndamere's sword. It's so big that it drags on the ground behind him when he's not swinging it at something, yet [[OneHandedZweihander he wields it with one hand]]. Perhaps inevitably, his joke is, [[DoubleEntendre "My right arm is a lot stronger than my left arm!"]]
