In the 1993 Family Marathon showing all of the episodes of season 1, Barney does mention that "[Kathy's] daddy doesn't live with her", implying that her parents could be divorced.

* ''Series/BearInTheBigBlueHouse'': Bear seems to be the main parental figure for Tutter, Ojo, Treelo, Pip, and Pop (although only Tutter and Treelo live with him), and based on the song "Look At You Now" he seems to have raised Treelo from infancy. Whatever happened to their parents is never mentioned. Interestin'ly, we do get to see a few of Tutter's relatives (like his grandma, uncle, and a cousin) but we get nothin' about his parents.

* ''Series/BearInTheBigBlueHouse'': Bear seems to be the main parental figure for Tutter, Ojo, Treelo, Pip, and Pop (although only Tutter and Treelo live with him), and based on the song "Look At You Now" he seems to have raised Treelo from infancy. Whatever happened to their parents is never mentioned.
* ''Series/SesameStreet'': Big Bird is six years old ([[NotAllowedToGrowUp and has been for decades]]), but unlike the show's other child Muppet characters, who usually have parents, he lives by himself, with all the adult humans serving as {{Parental Substitute}}s for him. He has a Granny Bird whom he sometimes visits, and in a few episodes he mentions his mother, but where his parents are and why they're not with him is unknown.
