No Animals Were Harmed is about the disclaimer and its parodies, not animals potentially being injured

* NoAnimalsWereHarmed: The nudj (a large lizard) that attacks Antim is stunned, not killed.

* GenderNeutralWriting: Kax is expressly nonbinary (although the word itself is never used in-text; everyone just seems to understand), and is always referred to with "they/them" pronouns.

* BladeEnthusiast: Tevix's preferred form of violence features blades, and she's never caught without a few stashed somewhere on her.

** Tevix is a pilot-for-hire and a ruthless KnifeNut on almost no one's radar. However, [[spoiler: she becomes a prominent underworld boss who plans a serious blitz on the Mid Rim, and goes from ''that'' to beginning a promising smuggling career. In the process, she makes an honest attempt to change her impulsive and untrusting ways.]]

TRS cleanup

* AndNowForSomethingCompletelyDifferent: Rather than the usual Star Wars story (which features Jedi, involves Force powers, and contains the overarching theme of heroic idealists doing the right thing), ''Voices'' stars the galactic "smallfolk," and leans heavily on the idea of people doing what they need to do to keep going.

* CompleteMonster: Tak Artur has few redeeming values, if any. When we learn his backstory, it turns out that he obtained his monstrous battleship after murdering a bunch of defenseless young activists who were going to use it to extract survivors from a planet with high radiation levels.
