What is Goodfae? What does it matter to you, wiseguy? You think you're funny? You better beat it before I decide to take you out with this week's trash. And I don't wanna hear nothing about you squealing to the cops or else they're gonna find you sleeping with the fishes, ''capische?''

[[{{OOCIsSeriousBusiness}} ... Oh, alright.]]

Goodfae is a web serial novel (written by k0spam) about the mafia. Simple, right? Well, actually not so much. Not once you throw fairies, ghosts, gods and monsters into the mix with mobsters and magic. The world of Goodfae is about as far from peaceful as you can get (even in New York!), much like the life of its protagonist, Alfonso Anastasio; a mafioso and newly made man trying to make ends meet to support his bedridden sister. Just like everyone else in the great city of New York, New York, Al wakes up everyday just so he can go to work nine to five and bring home the bread. Unlike other people, Al’s work involves extortion and violent gang warfare alongside the likes of warlock Marquis Allesandri and his crew of vampires, demigods, and changelings. Hey, some people file tax returns, some people file bullets. With the Allesandri family and their capo backing Alfonso and his sister, is he going to walk the road of gold and roses, or is his life and the lives of everyone around him about to become a lot more complicated?

[[https://mobsandmagic.wordpress.com Goodfae]] updates once to twice a week, Mondays through Fridays. Arcs will generally be split into seven to fifteen 2500-3000 word chapters a piece, with one or two bonus interludes (sidestories). Due to the nature of the subject material and content, Goodfae is liable to be very dark at times, and not for everyone. Sensitive readers are advised to treat this as a very trigger-heavy work, and should make the decision to read it or not accordingly.

!! This series provides examples of:

*{{Absurdly Sharp Blade}}: Alfonso's knife, which is [[{{SharpenedToASingleAtom}} Sharpened To A Single Molecule]] and can cut through steel and anything else with ease thanks to the self-sharpening enchantment which keeps the blade from dulling mid-cut.
*{{All Myths Are True}}
*{{Dirty Cop}}: Officer Thompson.
*[[spoiler: {{Eaten Alive}}]]: [[spoiler: Mickey Donahue's ultimate fate.]]
*{{The Fair Folk}}: The fae presumably, a mysterious background entity responsible for ending WWI and revealing the existence of magic to the human population.
*{{Fantastic Racism}}: Demihumans.
*{{Fantasy Kitchen Sink}}: Vampires, werewolves, demigods, doppelgangers, orks, dragons, cynocephaly, homunculi and faeries, oh my!
*{{Forced To Watch}}: [[spoiler: The only reason Milo's [[{{ColdBloodedTorture}} treatment of Nayeli]] can't be filed under {{Rape Is A Special Kind Of Evil}}.]]
*{{Friendly Neighborhood Vampires}}
*{{Hair Trigger Temper}}: Sostene, and it's a source of frequent embarrassment for him too. It's implied this is common for vampires who are transitioning into adolescence from the initial stage of rebirth.
**Nayeli plays this more straight, as she as liable to fly off the handle at a moment's notice and is quicker to violence than Joe Pesci. It seems like the only one who never has to worry about saying something that might piss her off is Marquis.
*{{Horror Hunger}}: David Blade from Interlude 2.b, showing us exactly how difficult it can be for a vampire to blend into society.
*{{Kill It With Fire}}: The best way to attack a vampire.
*{{Knight Templar Big Brother}}: Alfonso's motivation for his involvement with the Allesandri crime family.
*{{No Social Skills}}: Theo.
*{{Neighborhood Friendly Gangsters}}
*{{Our Monsters Are Different}}: Including:
**{{Our Vampires Are Different}}
**{{Our Demons Are Different}}
**{{Our Ghosts Are Different}}
**{{Our Homunculi Are Different}}
**{{Our Werewolves Are Different}}
**{{Our Orcs Are Different}}
*{{Person of Mass Destruction}}: Nayeli, who leveled Central Park and swings around an axe that weighs a few billion tons like it's a baton. It's implied most, if not all, demigods are this way as well.
**Demihumans in general may as well be considered this, to differing degrees.
*{{Photographic Memory}}: This is Al's power as a medium. He considers it unhelpful at best, but it's been shown to have a number of practical applications:
**{{Bat Deduction}} to an absurd degree, and after only a few conversations with someone to boot.
**{{Super Reflexes}} by way of "remembering" and predicting how someone will move (disregarding that's not how muscle memory works, [[{{AWizardDidIt}} but it's probably magic)]]
*{{Politically Incorrect Hero}}: Alfonso, who has openly admitted to hating elves and is suspicious of Sostene around his sister, although this can be handwaved as [[{{KnightTemplarBigBrother}} something else entirely.]] Really, it's part and parcel for a story set in the '30s.
*{{Psychic Powers}}: Mediums.
*{{Rape Is A Special Kind of Evil}}: Mickey. Oh so much Mickey.
*{{Roaring Rampage of Revenge}}: Alfonso ''and'' Marquis in Snatch.
*{{Screw The Rules Im Doing Whats Right}}: Alfonso in Snatch [[spoiler: although this is later revealed to be a facade.]]
*{{Sir Swearsalot}}: As expected of a story about the mafia, even the most polite characters will invariably start dropping {{Cluster F Bomb}}s when things go south.
*{{Super OCD}}: Classic vampire weaknesses like crosses, running water, and garlic are explained as being this.
*{{Van Helsing Hate Crimes}}: The [[spoiler: Vitali family.]]
*{{World War One}}: A huge part of the backstory, and the catalyst for the current {{Unmasqued World}}.
*{{Xanatos Speed Chess}}: Mickey and Marquis throughout Snatch [[spoiler: even though it's ultimately revealed Marquis was just treating the whole thing as a distraction from his "real work" until Mickey made the huge mistake of making him angry.]]
*{{You No Take Candle}}: Even if she's understandable, Ren's English can be absolutely terrible.
