The main antagonist could be a Hero Antagonist up against a Villain Protagonist, who would be the Big Bad.

This laconic can easily be condensed into an even more brief wording that doesn't exclusively mean villanous, and sometimes the Big Bad isn't the cause of all the events in the story.

I mainly made this page slightly more laconic, which I'm still working on myself lol. Also, it's possible for there to be more than one character who's trying to solve the story's problem(s). (Additionally, I kinda feel it's noteworthy that while describing the trope, the unabridged article states, "In fact, [the character] doesn't have to be a villain at all,...".)

Previous definition indicated that a character could qualify for this trope even if he wasn't villainous so long as he/she is the main force in opposition to the protagonist. The page explicitly states that the character is the source of bad happenings in the story thereby making the character villainous by default. To indicate otherwise would lead other viewers/editors to confuse this trope with a Hero Antagonist which is completely different.

A (usually villainous) character who's causing the problem(s) the heroes/heroines must solve.
