** I heard this was answered in the comic. He tried to take the pictures to another newspaper, but they started asking a lot of uncomfortable questions as to how exactly Peter got them. Turns out Jameson just buys them, no questions asked. Sure, Jameson uses them for smear articles, but everyone else is too suspicious on how Peter got such good photos.

* The ultimate question: Why is Peter selling pictures to J. Jonah Jameson? Just... seriously? He's a guy who goes out of his way to slander Spider-Man's good name and has even been behind supervillains attacking him directly. Sell em to somebody who will actually treat Spider-Man with respect! Is the Daily Bugle the only media outlet in the entirety of New York City?

** Don't forget that the comics give us Spidey's perspective, making it obvious that he's a hero. JJJ hears about everything second-hand (via reporters and whatnot), and in some verions he's rather paranoid and just jumps to the worst possible conclusions. Spidey is always around whenever there's some sort of disaster happening, so it's not too hard to assume that he's the cause of disasters. And if he takes down well-known villains here and there, that could be reframed as a villainous spidey taking on other villains (like how real-life gangs tend to fight each other.) The Spider-Man PS4 game runs with this interpretation: JJJ is a jerkass but he also believes in high principles (he criticizes the government for warrentless surveillance, for instance), and he just fails to understand that Spidey means well.

** If the cops discover a known criminal in a cemetery, they're going to arrest him. There isn't some rule that says people can't be arrested in cemeteries. Now I know that Spidey isn't a cop, but a similar logic applies. Rhino is a known criminal. If we let him run loose he's very likely going to hurt people. So it makes sense to try and arrest him when you have the chance. Also, as soon as Rhino yells about how he was just visiting his mom, Spidey narrates "Oh crap. I've made a mistake" and tries to back off. The fight only continues because Rhino is pissed and Spidey has to fight in self-defense at this point.

!!Video Game
* Before the Carnage fight, Venom was clearly knocked unconscious (or at least beaten to submission), laying on the floor of Doc Ock's underwater base. However, after the Monster Ock level, he reappears on the Quinjet, fully lucid. Black Cat had contacted Cap about the situation after Spidey rescued him, but the question is: how did Venom even get on board? They may not have been able to reach out and contact him through normal means, since ''he was technically underwater''. While he does have the invisibility power and that he can recover swiftly from any attack that isn't fire or sonic-related, there wasn't necessarily a quick exit from the base either for him to use. When Monster Ock came up, did the explosions wake Venom up? Did he smash a hole into the base and just swim away until he found the Quinjet?

** It was because of the spell Dr Strange cast. They remember doing it, but they don't remember the face. For instance, Venom would remember that he stalked Spider-Man, but he wouldn't be able to recall the face. Also, his brain wouldn't make otherwise obvious connections. It's basically 2+2=5. Note, the "brain not connecting" aspect was weakened by Peter's actions in Spider-Island, which is how Carlie (And later Norman) was able to put it all together

*So because of the deal with Mephisto his villains forgot his secreet identity, right? So how do guys like Eddie Brock and Green Goblin remember their past encounters with Spidey if most of their schemes revolved about them knowing his identity? Why would Venom stalk Peter if he didn´t know his identity? Why would Peter be cloned if nobody knew he was Spidey? So Goblin abducted Stacy solely because they had an affair and Peter was just a random guy to him?

* Okay, this is something that has bothered me since I started reading Spidey in the '70's, so if all you tropers who have a different insight on it then I do could please weigh in, I'd appreciate it. Here goes. It's been established that Spider-Man can lift (overhead press) 10 tons. Let's say that when he was a skinny 15 year old who hadn't gotten his powers yet, Peter could overhead press about 100 pounds. I know, that's a stretch. Since he can lift 10 tons after the spider bite, that about a 200-fold increase in strength. However, it's also established that Spidey can leap about 30 feet straight up. Shouldn't he be able to jump a lot higher, since his leg muscles definitely had the same increase in strength? Even if Peter could only jump one foot high before the spider bite, once he got his spider powers, vertical leaps of 150-200 feet should be no problem at all. Anyone else have a take on this?

*** The public also continues to hate and fear mutants despite the ComicBook/{{X-Men}}'s best efforts, they trust convicted murderers and psychopaths to keep them safe after ComicBook/CivilWar, and routinely MisBlame the heroes for things that are the fault of the villains. Suffice it to say that the general public in 616 Marvel is a collection of ungrateful douchebags who are TooDumbToLive and quite frankly don't even '''deserve''' to have the heroes continually fighting to protect them. That means you, Sally Floyd! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

*** It's perhaps worth noting here that Captain Stacy is the father of Peter's (then-)girlfriend and Robbie Robertson is his boss, whereas, say, Kingpin has next to no contact with Peter Parker in his civilian identify whatsoever. It's a lot easier for someone who knows you and spends a lot of time with you to possibly figure out your secret than someone who has no real idea who you are.

*** There's also the fact that, for the longest time, Peter didn't even trust other superheroes with his identity. Spider-Man was bosom buddies with the Fantastic Four, but he still didn't tell them his real name for decades of published comics. If Reed Richards had known the brilliant, bold, Amazing Spider-Man was struggling photographer Peter Parker, Reed probably would have offered him a job, or at least a place to crash in the Baxter Building. But Peter was so paranoid about his identity he never let on, until he'd started making good himself on his own terms.

* I agree with you on some parts but he was being irresponsible with powers that were above the levels of the Hulk or the Phoenix. His recklessness almost caused deaths, he was a kid with an ego with unstoppable level powers. Bit a much on what Peter told him afterwards but still, he had a lot of power that he could not use properly at the time.

** Alpha wasn't just failing to live up to Peter's notions of responsibility: He was actively ignoring his responsibilities, being a massive jerk to everyone around him, sleeping around behind the back and to the face of girls he was with, and engaging in incredibly reckless fights because he could get away with it. Really, it was only a matter of time before the kid caused a tragedy, and with his power, it wasn't going to be limited to "I let Uncle Ben die." Alpha was either going to be so negligent he caused a disaster that made [[ComicBook/CivilWar Stamford]] look like a square dance, or he was going to actively go DrunkOnTheDarkSide and become a threat no one could hope to put down.

* So, maybe I'm just overthinking his costume but why does Spider-Man wear blue. I mean, I get why he wears red and black; black is the color of most spiders and red could represent the black widow's hourglass or something but what does blue have to do with spiders?

* During the whole debacle with the superhero Alpha back in 2012, when Spiderman decides to depower the kid because he's too "irresponsible" with his powers... is Spiderman now deciding to impose his "with great power" schpiel on OTHER PEOPLE? Nevermind that Spiderman doesnt actually live up to that creed himself, this kids life sucked ass before he got his powers, and he made something with it, and Spiderman just took that away, and thats supposed to be the right thing to do? Just because Parker is fine being miserable out of some semi-masochistic desire to martyr himself doesnt mean every metahuman should have to.

** Okay, but he's still publicly seen working with the heroes that have better press as they save the city/world all the time, but rarely gets credit for that. He ''was'' an [[Comicbook/TheAvengers Avenger]] at one point. (Though that may or may not have have occurred thanks to OneMoreDay.)

** They've met before, though can't remember the issue(s). They most certainly know who the other is regardless. As to why Peter, that's just his schtick. In OMD he gives the weak excuse of "Because it will piss off God", really he does this sort of thing ForTheEvulz and just especially enjoys messing with heroes (he sometimes tries to grab their souls because he can get power from souls that are especially noble, but GoodHurtsEvil so that is tricker than it sounds). Why is he making a deal with Peter and not anyone else on the planet?...Well, he IS. Mephisto makes deals like this ''all the time''. He isn't going to try and make one with someone like the Rhino or a lunatic fan (odds are they are going to Hell so he'll get them anyway) but he makes strategic deals that benefit him in the long run, people he thinks might be useful somehow or others' whose souls or happiness he particularly craves. The problem is less "Why would he make a deal with Peter?" and more "Why would he make such a CRAP deal with Peter?".

Also, it has been pointed out that Marvel has been deliberately twisting status quo pre-OMD to create backlash that would justify it happening and has attempted to do the same in the past-see Clone Saga, where they tried to replace people with Ben Reily and Mackie/Byrne reboot, where they outright tried to kill MJ off. It's a pathological thing.
