** Well, it's been theorized that Mephiles could only . As for the Chaos Emerald thing, supposedly the game was supposed to be a ContinuityReboot. It would keep all main characters, but for all intents and purposes, the previous games never happened. So in the story at least, the Chaos Emerald was never used to fight Perfect Chaos, the Biolizard, and so on. As for Elise not crying, let's just say she's a Literature/Twilight FanGirl, so the death of her father doesn't bother her, but the love of her life -- who she just met earlier that day, and is of a different species -- dying... That cuts her deep. As for why nothing was accomplished... Well, let's just say that some of the characters have no idea what they're doing half of the time *cough* Sonic, Silver *cough*. Also, it was probably part of Mephiles' plot to keep everyone distracted long enough for him to accomplish his plans... What? His plans might be overly complex, but he's not incompetent.

*** The fact that the chaos emeralds are the important macguffins at all is itself arguably a NewPowersAsThePlotDemands-style plot hole: For this game and this game only, they are able to freeze time and open time portals. Even having an entirely new set of MacGuffins would have been better. Or even the Time Stones from VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehogCD.

** Apparently there is an unused line with Blaze wondering "Could Sonic really be the Iblis Trigger?" If taken into account, then she did remember Sonic and the dub was actually accurate in translating her lines as "blue hedgehog". As for the original question, her profile in Sonic Rush basically answers what's the deal with her being in Silver's future, as it states that the Sol Emerald can take her through space and even time. This, coupled with the fact the emeralds were shown to occasionally take their holder where they're needed, heavily implies that at some point after Rush the Sol Emeralds took her to Silver's future so that she could aid him.

** Which is OutOfCharacter for Sonic, considering he and Blaze in Sonic Rush had a long stare at each other and are trying to hold on to each other as long as possible before they get separated — Sonic's holding on with both hands. It's as if they're both reluctant to part ways. He has a lot of things on his mind, but he could have at least acknowledged Blaze's presence stating that it's "good to see her again."

** The part that REALLY messes this up is the fact that Silver helped completely erase Solaris. If Solaris is totally gone, then why did Blaze have to seal half of it (Iblis) in herself? Does that mean she no longer has Iblis now? Was her sacrifice meaningless? They kicked her to another dimension for no reason? This would also imply that the Duke of Soleanna never did the experiment and died either.

Could HAVE, not could of.

** The ResetButton ending and that Blaze's character changed through this game makes this question almost entirely worthless. It's pretty clear that this game has no bearing on the Sonic universe (Generations also had a time creator in it so the Time Eater probably could of made Sonic 06 real again until it was defeated)

** Besides the whole "cartoon hedgehog x realistic human who's art styles clash massively but we're supposed to believe are from the same world and this is normal" thing, there's also the fact that Elise is a flat character who keeps getting kidnapped and rarely actually takes any initiative to do anything helpful. Elise having feelings for Sonic possibly makes sense as he's the first one to encourage her to actually have feelings and express her emotions (and she's probably so isolated normally out of fear of emotional attachments that she'd crush on the first being that was nice to her even if it was a cartoon hedgehog)...but Sonic developing a crush on a human girl he's only know a few days is completely out of character for him and just reeks of bad writing/Mary Sue-fanfic territory.

*** The game does not use Stable Time Loop. Iblis was released after Elise died on the ship, causing Silver’s dystopian future. When Sonic went back in time to prevent Iblis from releasing, he changed Silver’s future by saving Elise.
