For whatever reason, despite the ships themselves being invincible, they fail to protect the passengers inside. Preemptively shooting a dropship with weapons with punch-through or explosive rounds will not only hit and kill the enemy units inside, but causes the ship to automatically drop the corpses the moment their HP hits zero. An attentive player with some heavy duty firepower can just deflate their presence the moment they spawn in by causing them to simply drop their already-dead payload, but will still fly around as if nothing happened before leaving.
