* Another one in Legion, but the concept of homunculus is pretty disturbing in it's own right. They're effectively undead, but are so well disguised and capable of acting like any other person that they can hide in plain sight with no one the wiser. While most of the homunculus you kill (if you were a rogue) are characters you don't pay much attention to, or are just random NPCs, some of them have taken the place of several NPCs who long time players have visited or met a number of times, such as an Alliance Auctioneer. It's really terrifying and sad to consider just how many of them may have outright replaced people's loved ones, who live unaware that their loved ones are horrible abominations in disguise.

** Additionally, Arthas' primary weapon was Frostmourne, a dangerous sword with the ability to steal souls and a devastating weapon in it's own right, necessitating care and caution when attempting to fight anyone who wielded it, especially someone as powerful as the Lich King. Bolvar doesn't have it, making his already diminished power compared to Arthas even more noticeable, and meaning that Sylvanas has even less to fear from him.

* Sylvanas burning Teldrassil after Malfurion escaped as a way to fracture the Alliance felt like a flimsy justification, and ''it was''. Per the ''Shadowlands'' reveals all of the souls who died during the War of Thorns will have been fed into the Maw, empowering the Jailer and Sylvanas. Sylvanas originally planned to kill Malfurion because, as an ancient druid who has repeatedly saved the world, his soul would be rich with anima. When Saurfang spared Malfurion Sylvanas needed a replacement source of anima and so burned Teldrassil; the souls of the civilians provide less anima, but there are so many it balances out.

Added DiffLines:

* The revelation that since ''Legion'' the soul of everyone who died has gone to the Maw explains why Night Elves raised from the dead in Darkshore are willing to join Sylvanas. They have literally been trapped in hell with no sign of Elune coming to rescue them; instead it's Sylvanas who frees them from an eternity of torment. Their fury at Elune and constant talk of betrayal make more sense in light of this.

** A final point to make is also Sylvanas' mental state against the respective Lich Kings, as well as their expectations in return. Sylvanas was brutally traumatized by Arthas, and she's more or less dedicated much of her early undeath to get revenge on him for what he did to her, making her not only determined to kill him by any means necessary, but also understandably wary of his power and ruthlessness. By contrast, Bolvar has had no real interaction with Sylvanas, and for the most part has dedicated himself to preventing others from even knowing he exists. As such, Sylvanas possesses no notable trauma towards Bolvar, and thus has no reason to really take him seriously, especially given she could likely tell that he was much weaker than Arthas. This, and the fact that Bolvar was operating under the mistaken assumption she was after the Helm for herself, only ensured that Sylvanas' victory would be more onesided in her favor.

* Sylvanas being able to fight off Lich King Bolvar as easily as she did in the Shadowlands trailer got a lot of flak for making Bolvar seem much weaker, or to make Sylvanas seem more powerful than she usually is. It especially stands out given Bolvar's capabilities and that his predecessor Arthas was powerful enough to bring Sylvanas down and cause much of her problems in the present. However, it actually makes a lot of sense in hindsight when you take into consideration the circumstances in which the Lich Kings took power, their actual capabilities at those times, and the difference in their mentalities.
** Arthas when he became Lich King was basically at the peak of his power, a fully fledged Death Knight and an overall devastating foe who willingly gave in to his more ruthless tendencies, and for the most part completely aligned himself with the power of the Lich King, thus enabling him to have a near total command of the Scourge as well as being willing to use their abilities with little hesitation. Him being at the peak of his power when he became the Lich King also made him a brutally difficult opponent to fight against, and his consistent use of said abilities meant that even when the adventurers were finally able to put him down, he didn't go down without us needing outside help.
** Bolvar, by contrast, while a notable Paladin and who was clearly competent enough given his role in the past, was basically burnt to a barely recognizable corpse and was only revived due to the Dragon's flame, which likely would have taken a severe toll on his martial prowess. Even then afterwards, he was tortured by Arthas and basically only survived due to his sheer willpower, and only took on the Helm of Domination as an act of service to good, pretty much ensuring that he'd go out of his way to resist the Helm's temptation and likely to an extent, it's powers. While he does seem to have some level of pragmatic ruthlessness as of Legion, it's fairly clear that he isn't anywhere NEAR as ruthless as Arthas was during his tenure as Lich King, and thus even if he wasn't resisting the temptation of the Helm, he likely would only have been using the bare minimum of the Lich King's power to keep the Scourge at bay, and the fear of the idea/reputation of the Lich King to scare off any would be intruders. It's also worth noting that he likely hasn't had many opportunities/reasons to fight, thus his combat skills may have atrophied to an extent.

* Ever wonder why half of Silvermoon, the capital city of Quel'Thalas, is still standing, and looking in perfect condition compared to its other completely destroyed half? Well, if you go back to the Undead campaign of ''Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos'', the 5th level, "The Fall of Silvermoon," has Arthas attacking the city in order to resurrect Kel'thuzad at the Sunwell. However, the map level has Silvermoon along the bottom part of the map, and strangely enough, only what looks like about '''half''' of the city is visible for Arthas's Scourge to destroy. Given that Arthas had to depart back to Lordaeron to continue completing tasks up to Archimonde's summon, a fitting theory can be made that the main forces of the Undead Scourge departed from Qual'Thalas once they achieved resurrecting Kel'thuzad, and left the other half of the city intact, and rebuilt by the time of ''World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade''.

* Xavius in the Emerald Nightmare raid is just a reskinned, satyr-like General Vezax and other Faceless One generals. Kinda lame, actually, until it hit me: ''the Old Gods are remaking a Burning Legion creation into one of their own''. Of course he'd end up looking like one of their favored monstrosities! They might not be able to transform their minion into a perfect reproduction, given the Legion's own reshaping of Xavius' body, but they can twist and bloat it into the same general ''shape''.

* Given that the orcs who were interned were the children of the ones who committed the horrible war crimes, and they were forced into those prisons just because of what their parents did, if anything Daelin's reckless attack confirmed a lot of feelings the orcs had, making his actions the biggest NiceJobBreakingItHero in the entire franchise. Even with his death he managed to fuck it all up
