This one is justified due to being BroughtDownToNormal (Kim is a natural gymnast, not a martial artist) and even Tommy had trouble with it. Kids are also seen at a Rave of some sort (including Bulk and Skull), smearing themselves with Ivan's Ooze and implying it to be some sort of delinquent party. There is even a news broadcast reporting on the destruction being caused by Ooze's monsters.

* SlimeSnailsAndMutantTails: Ivan Ooze has some of this appeal, also his plan to sell kids tubs of purple gunk doesn't make any sense unless you remember the decade's love for this sort of thing. (Remember Nickelodeon in the 90's based their whole business around slime.)

* EvilPlan: Zed plans to use Ozze to end his war with Zordon. Ozze hijacks that plan into his own for conquest.

** Dulcea is the last living member of an alien race, who's ancestors came to Phaedos from "another time, another dimension." They were the ones who brought the "Great Power" to the monolith.

* EvilIsNotAToy[=/=]EvilerThanThou: A complex example. Ozze is genuinely grateful and asks "how can I ever repay you" to which Zed tells him to destroy Zordon, which he does. However, this was a one-time favor.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Mordant is terrified of the Ecto-Morphicons once they're activated and doesn't join Ivan and Goldar in watching them attack the city. Once Ivan combines with Hornitor, Goldar flies back to the moon. Neither of them are seen again until the post-credits sequence.

** Dulcea, obviously, but we can't forget about Kimberly's outfit.
** Inverted with Aisha was wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Poor Karan Ashley mentioned in an interview that she almost had a heatstroke multiple times being dressed like that in the Australian summer and still do action scenes.

* BroadStrokes: Pretty explicitly used, with such dramatic a departure in visual style from the series it's almost like seeing a completely different product altogether. But the core actors were the same, and the Ranger costumes and non-human characters are instantly identifiable (although Zedd and Rita lack most of their series minions and have a brand new one). It can be assumed that the general story of the series effectively forms the backstory to this film.
** The opening text scroll does mention that Zordon recruited 6 teens, which would imply that unlike the show Tommy was always part of team. But that might been done for simplicity sake.
* BroughtDownToNormal: The Rangers end up losing their powers when Ivan attacks the Command Center and leaves Zordon near-death, and a significant portion of the plot involves them finding a way to get them back so they can stop him.

* CanonForeigner: Mordant. According to an early draft, he is Goldar's second cousin, three times removed on his mother's side, visiting for the summer, but this was written out for the final draft.

* CanonImmigrant: This movie marked the first mention of Zordon being from the planet Eltar, which was later stated in the TV series. WordOfGod states this bit of information was always in the TV series bible. The movie just happened to be the first time it was ever stated on-screen.

** It is actually no one can get into the Command Center ''undetected'' without a Power Coin.
*** In keeping with the different continuity in the show no one gets in undetected without a power coin. In the movie no one gets in without a power coin. Period. Except Ivan Ooze.
**** Alpha: "Well... Almost nobody!!"
** Honestly, the way that was done, it made it sound like the coins were like keys, and the doors won't ''unlock'' without one. Ivan didn't need to worry about that, and just slid through cracks in the door.
* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: Used at the end of the movie to repair their decimated hidden base and restore Zordon to full health.

* TheDayTheMusicLied: As the team morphs for the first time in the film, we are treated to a pumped-up version of the [[ThemeMusicPowerUp theme song]] and obligatory [[AssKickingPose posing]], after which it is revealed that the bad guys have ''fled the scene'' during all the buildup. Even the post-reveal ''guitar riff'' sounds disappointed.
* DespairEventHorizon: Zordon crosses it, after Ivan Ooze destroys the Command Center. He flat out tells the Rangers Ivan Ooze is victorious and there's nothing they can do; it's actually Alpha-5 that sets them out on their quest to find a new source of power.
* DisasterDemocracy: Ooze invokes this, naming himself the leader of the bad guys.

* DistressedDamsel: Both female rangers. Kimberly may have fit this trope in the TV series, but only alittle bit. In the movie, she's fits this trope almost full on. Even worse with Aisha, who was ''never'' portrayed as this in the series but finds herself trapped or injured and having to be rescued by one of the boys three separate times. There was actually a little bit of outrage over the outfit, while it shows a lot of skin it wasn't too provocative (a skirt made of wide strips of fabric and a top that didn't show much cleavage), but a publicity photo showing her pinning Tommy to the ground had a MaleGaze-ish angle and made it look worse than it was.

Whether or not Saba made the transition with the acquisition of the ninja powers (as did the suits and as happened in the series) was not revealed, however.
