* ActionGirl: Dulcea, the tall, fit master warrior of Phaedos who defeated a flock of mooks and pinned Tommy with her staff effortlessly. Aisha and Kimberly also count, kicking nearly as much ass as the other rangers.

* DamselInDistress: Kimberly twice. The first time was when a zombie mastodon cornered her and Tommy came in. This one is justified due to being BroughtDownToNormal (Kim is a natural gymnast, not a martial artist) and even Tommy had trouble with it. The second time was when her new Zord was trapped in Ooze's "electro magnetic zekze lock" but [[DamselOutOfDistress she used her thrusters to get out of that one]].

There is even a news broadcast reporting on the destruction being caused by Ooze's monsters.

** The first fight scene in the construction site involved the Rangers fighting mutant, humanoid rats. However, it was universally agreed upon that the rats looked ''absolutely horrible'', and they were replaced with the Oozemen. * BroadStrokes: Pretty explicitly used, with such dramatic a departure in visual style from the series it's almost like seeing a completely different product altogether. But the core actors were the same, and the Ranger costumes and non-human characters are instantly identifiable (although Zedd and Rita lack most of their series minions and have a brand new one). It can be assumed that the general story of the series effectively forms the backstory to this film.
** The opening text scroll does mention that Zordon recruited 6 teens, which would imply that unlike the show Tommy was always part of team. But that might been done for simplicity sake.
* BroughtDownToNormal: The Rangers end up losing their powers when Ivan attacks the Command Center and leaves Zordon near-death, and a significant portion of the plot involves them finding a way to get them back so they can stop him.

->''It's Morphin' Time!''

TheMovie adaptation of ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers'', released between the show's second and third seasons and given a {{big budget|BeefUp}} treatment. It doesn't fit into the {{continuity}} of [[NonSerialMovie the series]]; the events of the film are replaced in the third season. The Rangers, villains, and Command Center are all radically different, accounting for where the movie's budget went to. In particular, the Rangers have a PoweredArmor appearance and the special effects were a far cry from the series.

The plot: Rita and Zedd release another SealedEvilInACan, a ShapeShifting glob known as Ivan Ooze, with the hope he will become a new minion. Unfortunately, he proves that there is a very good reason he was sealed away. Trapping Zedd and Rita in a snowglobe, crippling the Rangers' Command Center, and destroying their powers, he sets out to rebuild monstrous creatures that he began years ago. The Rangers depart for the planet Phaedos to find "The Great Power" to re-energize themselves and return to stop Ooze.

----
!!This film provides examples of:

* AllThereInTheScript:
** The "group of young warriors" who trapped Ivan Ooze were part of an organization called "The Order of Meledon". Zordon and Dulcea themselves were members.
** The planet Phaedos is located in the Hyperion Constellation.
** After the Order's enemies were defeated, Zordon continued to fight evil elsewhere.
** Dulcea is the last living member of an alien race, who's ancestors came to Phaedos from "another time, another dimension." They were the ones who brought the "Great Power" to the monolith.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: Ivan destroys the Command Center.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Ivan Ooze mentions several horrific things he missed out while he was imprisoned: "The Black Plague! The Spanish Inquisition! ''TheBradyBunch Reunion!''" That last one was a ThrowItIn by the actor that everyone working on the project loved.
* TheArtifact: Much like the series, the suits remain the same even after switching to a completely different set of powers. Although at least in the movie, the chest pieces displaying their animal does switch from dinosaurs/mythological creatures to the ninja animals.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:Zordon, near the end of the movie.]]
* BareYourMidriff: Kimberly gets stuck wearing a midriff baring skater's outfit when Zordon calls for them and she doesn't get a chance to change out of it. [[{{Fanservice}} Makes you wonder why...]]
* BigGood: Almost nowhere else in the franchise has Zordon been as revered as the epitome of all that is good. Ooze visibly rages after hearing his name and Dulcea only helps the Rangers when she learns that Zordon is in trouble. The only season that came as close was ''Series/PowerRangersInSpace''.
* BigRedButton: The Ninja Megazord has one that Aisha needs to break a glass panel to use.
* BlobMonster: Ooze and his servants.
* BondOneLiner:
-->'''Billy:''' You ooze, you lose!\\
'''Rocky:''' Talk about a splitting headache!\\
'''Tommy:''' Eight ball, corner pocket!\\
'''Aisha:''' Kiss and make up!\\
'''Kimberly:''' Have a nice trip... See you next Fall.\\
'''Kimberly:''' Let's rock his world.
* CaliforniaDoubling: The series was filmed and set in California, while the movie was filmed in Australia. The movie actually looks rather good for its budget, and some industry analysts have suggested it helped promote the use of Australia as a cheap filming location.
* CallBack: When Kimberly finally boards her new Zord.
-->'''Kimberly:''' [[MundaneUtility Nice stereo!]]
* CompositeCharacter: Mordant basically serves Squatt and Baboo's function from the show. He's even fat like Squatt and has a monocle like Baboo.
* CanonForeigner: Mordant. According to an early draft, he is Goldar's second cousin, three times removed on his mother's side, visiting for the summer, but this was written out for the final draft.
* CanonImmigrant: This movie marked the first mention of Zordon being from the planet Eltar, which was later stated in the TV series.
** WordOfGod states this bit of information was always in the TV series bible. The movie just happened to be the first time it was ever stated on-screen.
* ChainmailBikini[=/=]{{Stripperiffic}}: Dulcea.
** This was obviously done as {{Fanservice}} but Dulcea herself is FetishFuel for many, even the kids who were preteens at the time.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: A new, powerful villain appears and completely humiliates the old boss? Goldar never liked the old bosses anyway.
* CombatPragmatist: The Ninja [=MegaFalconzord=]. See GroinAttack below.
* ContinuityNod: Alpha mentions that nobody can get into the Command Center without a Power Coin, a plot point first mentioned in the "Green With Evil" five-parter. Ivan Ooze, of course, disagrees.
** It is actually no one can get into the Command Center ''undetected'' without a Power Coin.
*** In keeping with the different continuity in the show no one gets in undetected without a power coin. In the movie no one gets in without a power coin. Period. Except Ivan Ooze.
**** Alpha: "Well... Almost nobody!!"
** Honestly, the way that was done, it made it sound like the coins were like keys, and the doors won't ''unlock'' without one. Ivan didn't need to worry about that, and just slid through cracks in the door.
* CueTheRain: "Trouble" by Shampoo:
--> We couldn't get a cab, 'cause we ain't got no money!\\
We missed the last train but we thought...\\
We'd get the night bus but the night bus never came!\\
We'd almost gone home and it started to...\\
* thunderclap*
* DarkerAndEdgier: They actually mention several times about people possibly dying, including Zordon and the group of brainwashed parents. Kids are also seen at a Rave of some sort (including Bulk and Skull), smearing themselves with Ivan's Ooze and implying it to be some sort of delinquent party. There is even a news broadcast reporting on the destruction being caused by Ooze's monsters.
-->'''Reporter''': The mayor has declared a state of emergency...
* TheDayTheMusicLied: As the team morphs for the first time in the film, we are treated to a pumped-up version of the [[ThemeMusicPowerUp theme song]] and obligatory [[AssKickingPose posing]], after which it is revealed that the bad guys have ''fled the scene'' during all the buildup. Even the post-reveal ''guitar riff'' sounds disappointed.
* DisasterDemocracy: Ooze invokes this, naming himself the leader of the bad guys.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:Zordon. Near the end of the film, while Ivan Ooze causes damage on the Earth and the Power Rangers are returning with their new-found powers, Zordon tells Alpha, "Keep trying..." before breathing his last on the news anchorwoman's words, "Where are the Power Rangers?" When they return to the ruined Command Center after destroying Ooze, they hear from Alpha that they are too late, and they see Zordon's pale body lying on the broken pillar. Fortunately, with [[AllYourPowersCombined all their powers combined by concentration]], the Command Center is restored by their WorldHealingWave, and he is brought BackFromTheDead, restored as an entity once more.]]
* DugTooDeep: The unveil of Ooze's egg.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning
* EvilLaugh: Ivan Ooze.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Ooze thanks Zedd and Rita for freeing him by shrinking them down and trapping them in a snowglobe.
** It was more for Zedd trying to zap him for saying he (Ooze) should be in charge. He thanked them exactly as they wished: by destroying the Command Center and putting Zordon on the road to a nasty death. Of course, he probably planned to do it anyway.
* [[AFatherToHisMen A Father to Us All]]: Kimberly said this to Zordon.
** In an early script, Dulcea said Zordon was an inspiration. If he dies, a part of those he inspired dies with him, and the universe will suffer an "imparable blow".
*** ...which was [[HilariousInHindsight odd]], given the ending of ''Series/PowerRangersInSpace''.
*** However, that was a HeroicSacrifice.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Ivan Ooze is one of the most entertaining Power Rangers villains; he is clearly evil but just enjoys himself so much. He even has some of the most memorable lines of the entire franchise.
-->'''Tommy:''' ''We're the Power Rangers!''\\
'''Ooze:''' ''"[[SarcasmMode Whooo!]] [[ExpectingSomeoneTaller Where's my autograph book]]!?"''
* FlatCharacter: ''ALL'' of the Rangers. The movie pretty much assumes you're already familiar with these characters and their roles from the TV show.
* GenreSavvy: While nothing came of it, Rocky mentioned that they should continue on in case the bone creature pulls itself together.
* GroinAttack: The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgtIMGhEenQ&t=4m45s Megazord does it to Ivan Ooze]]. It even has a button apparently [[Funny/MightyMorphinPowerRangers designed for the sole purpose of activating this maneuver]], covered by "For Emergency Use Only" glass.
** Almost struck Rocky.
* HeyYouHaymaker: Averted. Fred found his dad at the construction site and tries to get his attention, when Goldar appears shouting "Hey you!". He thought he's been spotted, until... "Get back to work!" to another hypnotized parent.
* HighClassGlass: Mordant for some reason wears a monocle.
* HollywoodSkydiving: The film opens with a skydiving scene that lasts for several minutes. Kimberly [[ActionGirl backflips out of the plane]], Tommy [[RuleOfCool skysurfs]] all the way down, and the whole thing is set to [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic Higher]] [[Music/RedHotChiliPeppers Ground]]. It's totally awesome.
* HotAmazon: Dulcea, the tall, fit master warrior of Phaedos who flirted with Adam when he felt disappointed about his spirit animal being a frog by describing him as a "handsome prince". She wasn't entirely sweet, though, [[SugarAndIcePersonality kinda pushy and standoffish at first]] (the Amazon part being proven when she pinned Tommy with her staff effortlessly) until they mentioned Zordon.
* HumongousMecha: The Rangers' Ninja Zords and Ivan's Ecto-Morphicon Titans - Scorpitron and Hornitor.
* ILoveTheSmellOfXInTheMorning: "I love the smell of destruction in the evening."
* IncomingHam: "Laaadies and gentlemen! The OOOOOZE is BACK!"
* InstrumentOfMurder: More like "[[{{Pun}} Instrument of Destruction]]": When Ivan Ooze says to Zordon, "It's time... [[{{Pun}} to pay]] {{the pi|edPiperOfHamelin}}per," Ooze takes out his piping flute and plays a bit like a [[StealthPun literal piper]] before using the flute's electric powers to damage the entire Command Center and weaken Zordon to a withering mortal.
* IWantMyMommy: Skull screams this when he and Bulk skydive out of a plane in the beginning of the movie.
* KidAppealCharacter: It's obvious Fred was put in the movie and given his own subplot for exactly this purpose.
* LargeHam: Ivan Ooze.
* LaughablyEvil: Ivan Ooze shows to have ''quite a good sense of humor'' even for a ruthless, power-hungry tyrant.
* MayContainEvil
* MonsterClown: Ivan Ooze when selling his slime to kids.
* MsFanservice: Dulcea, obviously, but we can't forget about Kimberly's outfit. Inverted with Aisha was wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Poor Karan Ashley mentioned in an interview that she almost had a heatstroke multiple times being dressed like that in the Australian summer and still do action scenes.
* MyNewGiftIsLame[=/=]BlessedWithSuck: Adam: "...[[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway I'm a frog.]]"
** His power is... [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway kissing]].
*** [[ThePornomancer Kissing is an]] [[HeartIsAnAwesomePower Awesome Power!]]
**** Adam even smiled.
* MythologyGag: Rocky's street clothes in this movie are a modern version of his Red Ranger Sentai counterpart [[Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger Geki]]'s outfit.
* NailsOnABlackboard: The sound of Dulcea's sticks, as described by the Tengas.
* NeverSayDie: Averted:
-->'''Ivan Ooze:''' So, they've all been destroyed?\\
'''Tengu:''' Well... we were about to destroy them, when...\\
'''Ivan Ooze:''' What, you didn't ''kill'' them?
** Another example, which is something of a subversion: In the trailer, Billy says that Zordon is "aging at an accelerated rate". [[NeverTrustATrailer In the actual movie]], however, he explicitly says that Zordon is dying.
** Dulcea would "age as rapidly as Zordon" if she ever gets close to the Great Power.
** This line:
-->'''Fred:''' If you don't come with me right now, our parents are going to die!
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: Parodied and averted, as Ivan's shapeshifting abilities were shown second only to his "teenager smelling" power:
-->'''Ivan Ooze:''' You forget: I'm a master of disguise!\\
'''Mordant:''' [[LampshadeHanging How could I forget? I never knew!]]
** Ivan might have assumed his reputation spread across the universe.
** The Ranger morphed forms also have wildly different weapons and modes they can switch into, the Red Rangers' scanning visor, the Yellow Rangers' headlights, Pink Rangers' "thunderwhip" and the Blue Rangers' zip line.
* NoImmortalInertia: Zordon begins aging "at an accelerated rate" when Ivan breaks open the time-warp capsule. Later on, Dulcea tells the Rangers that she too will age rapidly if she leaves her domain on the planet Phaedos.
* NonSerialMovie: Despite being based off the popular ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' franchise, and sharing the same cast, the movie isn't part of the show's continuity - Season 3 started off with a similar story arc to the plot of the movie.
* NubileSavage: Dulcea. There was actually a little bit of outrage over the outfit, while it shows a lot of skin it wasn't too provocative (a skirt made of wide strips of fabric and a top that didn't show much cleavage), but a publicity photo showing her pining Tommy to the ground had a MaleGaze-ish angle and made it look worse than it was.
* OhCrap: Ooze, as he's about to be hit by a comet.
** Goldar and Mordant at the end of the movie, when Rita and Zedd return.
* OneWingedAngel: Basically what Ooze does at the end, he merges with his own monster and mutates it into a giant robotic version of himself.
* OpeningMonologue: The film opens with a block of scrolling text with Dulcea reading it in voiceover. This explains Zordon's backstory and the formation of the Power Rangers briefly. The fact that it is read so straight is hilarious.
* PropRecycling: The first fight scene in the construction site involved the Rangers fighting mutant, humanoid rats. However, it was universally agreed upon that the rats looked ''absolutely horrible'', and they were replaced with the Oozemen. The rats later showed up in the TV series, in Season 2's "Return of the Green Ranger."
** And the Tengus were used in the third season as the ''Tengas''.
** Much later, one of the stone gargoyle-guardians the Ninjetti Rangers fight appeared in the background of an episode of ''Series/PowerRangersSPD''.
* PsychicAssistedSuicide: Attempted on Angel Grove's adults.
* {{Pun}}
* RememberTheNewGuy: Mordant, kind of.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Mordant is terrified of the Ecto-Morphicons once they're activated and doesn't join Ivan and Goldar in watching them attack the city. Once Ivan combines with Hornitor, Goldar flies back to the moon. Neither of them are seen again until the post-credits sequence.
* SealedEvilInACan: Ivan Ooze.
* ShoutOut: While Fred is spying at the construction site, Mordant can be heard yelling [[ShowBoat "Tote that barge, lift that bale!"]] in the background.
* SlimeSnailsAndMutantTails: Ivan Ooze has some of this appeal, also his plan to sell kids tubs of purple gunk doesn't make any sense unless you remember the decade's love for this sort of thing. (Remember Nickelodeon in the 90's based their whole business around slime.)
* TheStarscream: Played for laughs near the end of the film: with Ooze gone, Goldar thinks it's time to take over as the BigBad, but that's just when Rita and Zedd come back...
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Mordant, taking the place of Squatt and Baboo.
* TakeThat: A trope rarely used in Power Rangers. When Ivan Ooze laments the terrible things he missed while he was blowing up the command center and Zordon with it, the three things he mentions are "The Black Plague," "The Spanish Inquisition," and "[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking The]] ''[[TheBradyBunch Brady Bunch]] [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Reunion]]''!""
* TitleTheAdaptation
* TrainStopping
* TransformationIsAFreeAction: Subverted twice. The first time the Rangers morph, they get to do the whole routine because the Oozemen take the opportunity to run away. When they suit up as Ninjetti, one of the rock-monsters hurls a spear at Aisha right at the end of the role call. "The Bear - WHOA!"
* UniversalDriversLicense: Kids driving a monorail and a fire engine.
* UnPerson: Ooze menaces that Zordon will become this.
* VillainOverride: When his Ecto-Morphicons fail, Ivan takes control of Hornitor (by filling it up with... himself) and battles the Rangers personally.
* WatchingTroyBurn: The destruction of the Command Center.
* WeaponizedLandmark: The tower Ooze uses for the Megazord battle.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Saba, Tommy's sword in the series, makes a brief appearance to finish off the last of the Ooze-men. After Ivan trashed the Command Center, though, he vanished along with the rest of the Rangers' powers. Whether or not Saba made the transition with the acquisition of the ninja powers (as did the suits and as happened in the series) was not revealed, however.
** Zordon's words seem to imply that when the Rangers lost their powers, Saba disintegrated along with all the other weapons.
* WitchWithACapitalB: Ivan Ooze's insult of Dulcea.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Ooze disintegrates his bird {{Mooks}} after they fail to stop the Power Rangers from going towards the Great Power and report back to him about this.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: After brain-controlling all of the children's parents in the city, in order so they can work as his mind-controlled slaves to help build his [[spoiler: weapons of mass destruction]], once the task is completed, Ivan then sends the parents to walk off a cliff to their doom.
* YourSizeMayVary: Interestingly, the Zords in the movie are scaled down considerably from the series. Whereas in the show the monster and Megazords are taller than most of the buildings, the Ninja Megazord here couldn't be more than about 10-12 stories tall (individual zords were only about 3 stories tall). This is due to the fact that much of the filming for the CGI was in real locations and not just a model set on a sound stage, the Falconzord especially wouldn't be able to fly between the buildings if it was any bigger. Though the tower Ooze uses as a weapon would have to shrink considerably for it to work the way it does.
